pretty big result panning out at ANZ with Sydney about to beat St Kilda

Saints could easily miss the finals

Of the teams really fighting for the 8

North:

have St KIlda and Richmond at Etihad to come - i reckon they can win both of them and will then finish 8th and we will be playing them

Bombers:

Have Port and will thrash them and will come 7th likely though dependent on other results

Sydney:

Have geelong in geelong and will get smashed and then lions at SCG which they should win - could well end up 6th and host the bombers in week 1

Saints:

have North at Etihad and us at the G - I think North have them covered and if we beat them they will miss the finals - yet if we lose then saints rocket up to 6th and will host the swans - and we will host the bombers with north missing out despite winning their remaining games

pretty tight ending to this season

either way to me it looks like we will play north or the bombers in week 1 now

geez - but if saints rebound and beat north next week then it will likely come down to percentage between sydney and bombers as to who finishes 7th and 8th

so we would yet meet the swines

you would think geelong would thrash sydney and crush their percentage

and bombers would thrash port improving theirs

so in that scenario even with todays win the swans would come 8th

swans will be cheering on north melbourne next week

I think us & North will beat the Saints. Reckon it will be Syd hosting Ess leaving 3 MCG finals in Melb.

Us vs the Kangas most likely on the Sunday.

Incidentally after all the shit the saints have put us through over the last decade how nice would it be to finish them in Rd 24 :smoking:

I think this is the likely result.

But these remaining four teams are so inconsistent. The only certainty is the Bombers beating Port.

If Saints lose to North next week, I reckon they are a chance against us in round 24. What do we have to play for that game? It has the potential to be one of those games where we are 'off'.

Also, the % between Sydney and Ess is too great. We will either play North or Ess in week one at the G.

If Norf lose next week are they done for? Or does it depend on Sydney and the results in Rd 24?

I have us vs the Swans.

That assumes:

- Saints beat North
- Swans lose handsomely at the Cattery, denting their %, while Bombers thrash Port

If North beat Saints, likely to play North

I can't see it being anyone other than Swans or North, barring a big upset of course.

In all honesty I'll be happy to avoid Essendon*, happy playing any of the other 3.

Using the AFL ladder predictor...

If Essendon* beat Port by 100 (could easily be more considering it's at Etihad)

and

Sydney lose by 60 at Skilled and beat Brisbane by 30, then Essendon* will finish ahead on percentage by 1. A 30 point lose against Geelong and 30 point win against Brisbane will see them finish 1 percent ahead.

Will be touch and go.

Firstly, we have everything to play for in the last game! Put our best team in and have a finals preview. Would be great to get back on the winners list before the first final. Last two finals we've gone in after losses... Also there are a lot more players on the fringe this year so the players that get selected for the Saints will not want to play badly and get dropped!

Secondly, the good thing is we haven't lost to any of the potential week 1 final opponents this year. All I hope is we don't play at Etihad and we don't play St Kilda (although that somehow seems mathematically impossible? I've only heard Sydney, Bombers or North?).

And thirdly, in the ideal world nothing would please me more than beating St kilda in round 24 and knocking them out of the finals after the pain they have inflicted in the last 10 or so years!! I guess in that scenario we'd play North at the G... Bring Rewy to tears and bring on Norf!

I have Sydney hosting a final to St Kilda, and Carlton playing North Melbourne (which will be at the 'G'). North are in form and the Saints have lost 2 in a row now

I would rather us play Sydney but then it will be at Etihad and the Blues don't like playing at Etihad

So you have Port beating Essendon* at Etihad?
