Yet you know that the flick by Walker to Betts will be the only throw highlighted.

FWIW I thought the umpiring was decent tonight. No Razor Ray, McBurney, Nicholls or Vozzo makes a difference.

I was more worried about our field kicking than goal kicking

1passage especially where Gibbs was alone in the middle of the ground and Armfield kicked it to the Hawks player..(Sewell I think)

went with Hawthorn fans and the lauding over Cyril when he touches the ball is ridiculous...a basic handball evokes a "Wow" from their crowd... Honestly prefer Yarran to Cyril

Try listening to Bruce when Rioli is playing. He just gets in camera shot and he soils his jockey shorts.

A team built on kicking efficiency played a team built on winning contested ball and fitness and look who won. Says a lot about what our recruiting direction should be

Gibbs most over rated player I have seen at Carlton. Never delivers when it counts

The match commitee has to pick a big forward or a relief backman that can send Henderson forward so we can kick a winning score. The extra running player that we select ahead of Setanta or Watson means we can't win

Carrazzo - Pity Curnow got injured but as long as he plays we will never be a top side

Armfield had to start in the 23 ahead of Joseph and Ellard. Good triers with no tricks against top opposition

Thouey, Setanta Watson are better than Davies Joseph Ellard

You can say what you like about the coach but doesn't win big games

Really? Cyril will put his body on the line when he has to! 9 tackles and 15 touches in a 'quiet game'. When was the last time yaz had 9 tackles on an off night?

No excuse for that first half. Absolutely disgusting half of football.

Thought we were well and truly past that? Evidently not as the Hawks exposed us once more on the big stage.

Have we truly improved? Who the hell knows?

Reckon 8th will well and truly fancy their chances. That's a sad indictment on us.

So, so disappointed.

Disgusting half of football? Geez you're a @#$%&! sad sack!

Was watching the game with friends and they all looked at me at half time (after they looked at the scoreline...which is what I'm sure most of you did) and said you must be shattered.

No, I'm not.

Scoreline wasn't really indicitive of the way the game was going. We created scoring opportunities, but kicked a lot of behinds because they weren't good scoring opportunities. If we'd created better, put a score on the board then everything changes.

The thing I was amazed about was when they had time and and patience, they could pinpoint passes, may have been short, but they kept possession of the ball. We were doing ok, but turned it over, or kicked to 50-50 situations too often. We succumbed a lot to inferred pressure too often and rushed kicks because of it.

We've got a long way to go, but to say it was disgusting is being lazy and over emotional.

Premierships aren't won or lost in the first half of a game in Round 22.

Truth is that a game like this is a good learning experience about the type of pressure we need to apply, and withstand, to become a good side.

You guys talk about the draw and how we've had it so tough. I'd rather play Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn and West Coast twice throughout the year so we know where we're at before the finals. The more big games we play the better for us. @#$%&! easy games against Melbourne and Richmond. Would rather finish 8th being tested than get an easy draw in and not know where we need to improve.

Only Judd throws the ball.

Only Judd gets pinged for being caught and swung 180 degrees before getting rid of it legally.

Buddy can get away with that.

Plus Buddy.

Amazing to see everyone fap over Franklin who ran into an open goal because Thornton went to ground.

The fact that shorter players can do the same thing makes it less spectacular. :sly:

Did you watch Yarran's body work last week?

Bruce was pulling himself over Hodge clearing the ball out of the defensive 50.....cleared straight out on the full.

Well we certainly know where we are at now.

Until we can man it up for 4 quarters against sides like Hawthorn we are still only making up the numbers.

Not going to single out names (like Carazzo) - but we have too many players who went into that first quarter not believing we had a chance of winning.

Hawthorn are a tough, hard brutal bunch of snipers who push the envelope of fair play and we fair dinkum didnt want to know about it in the first half.

For the past 4 years we have come into these games without any self belief its time to harden up.

Kouta, did you watch Yarran tonight? pull out of a marking contest with buddy?

All good doing it against Freo whilst 30-40 points up and sailing, different story with the hawks bullying us!
evem still, didn't put his body on the line last week. Will never back into a pack or jump when he isn't sure whats around him

I'm so frustrated. Why is it this team has such an obsession with zoning off? Hawthorn are super with their kicking skills so when you give your opponent a ridiculous amount of space, they will cut you up every time. Low and behold when the blues played more man on man in the third, Carlton came back and played some decent footy.

Just got back.

Appalling first half. Second to the ball, no clean hands or feet, physically monstered at contests and intimidated...

We are still showing a pattern of behaviour when up against the big bodied teams at Etihad..see West Coast and now Hawthorn...even Footscray physically got into us this season....Geelong at Etihad was early in the year when we were fresh...

Our list is not right...We need a hard big bodied CHF and CHB.

Positives: Henderson Walker and Yarran

No big scalps this year........I am not convinced with certain personnel...

Was disappointing he didn't spoil, but to suggest it was because he was scared or avoiding body contact is crazy, if that was the case he'd have just waited out the back.

:garthp:

Gibbs has smashed Goddard in wins against St Kilda.

Watson isn't ready.

Can Curnow kick?

I wouldn't even look at an Andrew Swallow who butchered it against us. If Breust can play a forward role and prosper, then I can't think of a reason why Kerr can't be given a game. They were picked in the same draft. We need players who can kick.

Play the forgotten man in Lucas as a half forward/wing.

If Jamison can be played forward and compete well against Schoenmakers, then Austin could play a similar role with Waite out. Picking Setanta would be a stop backwards. Austin has more footy smarts and skill than Setanta.

He did just wait out the back :screwy:
Oh, then he threw his hand at the ball once the mark had been completed
