Nobody on The Game Plan gave us a chance.

Lloydy still banging on about our midfield not being defensive enough and that the Hawks mids work harder to help out the backline.

FLOG!!!

Wasn't this the guy who said after the Sydney game that we had no weaknesses and could go all the way? The footy world is so damn reactionary.

Didn't want to start a new thread but I'm Sydney staying next to Darling Harbour and I want to to know which place nearby would have this match on TV live

He said "Hawks easily, Carlton are downhill chasers"

Which is what? Because winning certainly won't do it (it'll be because of their injuries, us having more #1 picks etc). So best think of another reason.

based on reports from last weeks game, could be Sewell (vs bateman) that is out. was subbed out of the game with a back problem.

KB on sen saying he's very confident the Hawks will get up.

Someone called up saying he's never got over the '82 Grand Final

God I hope we win this

I was going to say that's one less flog to lay some cheap shots, but he'll just be replaced by another cheap-shot-laying flog

Here's how we lined up in Round 9 last year and got flogged by 50 points...

FB: Michael Jamison, Brett Thornton, Aaron Joseph
HB: Bryce Gibbs, Simon White, Jordan Russell
C: Heath Scotland, Dennis Armfield, Kade Simpson
HF: Marc Murphy, Setanta O'hAilpin, Ryan Houlihan
FF: Chris Yarran, Matthew Kreuzer, Eddie Betts
Fol: Sam Jacobs, Andrew Carrazzo, Chris Judd
Int: Chris Johnson, Joe Anderson,
Lachie Henderson, Mitch Robinson

NB: Waite was out suspended - White, Johnson, o'hAilpin all gone before half time but it didn't matter we were down by almost 40 points at the half.

14 months later...

B: Jeremy Laidler, Michael Jamison, Chris Yarran
HB: Bryce Gibbs, Lachie Henderson, Nick Duigan
C: Heath Scotland, David Ellard, Kade Simpson
HF: Jeff Garlett, Bret Thornton, Dennis Armfield
FF: Andrew Walker, Matthew Kreuzer, Eddie Betts
Fol: Robert Warnock, Chris Judd, Marc Murphy
Int: Andrew Carrazzo, Aaron Joseph,
Mitch Robinson, Marcus Davies

Looking through our team, the only weakness I can see is Davies BUT he is young and learning his craft, so we have to cut him a bit of slack I believe.
Jamison has a question mark over his fitness, but I reckon they will use him as a sub tonight.

Let them worry about us. They've got some concerns of their own.

Their form line all year has been very similar to ours. No reason why we cant win this.

Think the media might be getting carried away with their perfomance last week.

Having said that i reckon the point he made about our midfield not being defensive enough is something that concerns me..... well kind of.
More our team defense. I am hoping tonight that we keep things really compact ,keep the game tight and intense. That is what finals football is about.

The last month i reckon we have been lucky with our opposition stuffing up a fair bit of their inside 50's once they have broken our defenses further up the ground. The hawks will make us pay if
our defense slacks off.

Its going to be a tough and enjoyable game where we can learn a lot about ourselves.

My own grade on how their seasons are going.

2011
Warnock 7.5
Garlett 7.5
Walker 8.0
Laidler 7.5
Duigan 7.5
Ellard 6.5
Davies 5.5

49.5/70 70%

2010
Russell 8.5
White 4
O'hAilplin 6.5
Houlihan 7.5
Jacobs 6.5
Anderson 4.0
Johnson 3.5

40.5/70 54%

16% improvement in different personnel not to mention the improvement in the other 15 players who played last time.
At lest Robbo, Thorton, Scotland, Murphy, Eddie, Army, Yazz all having better seasons than in 2010.

Go Blues

Don't think it will be on live at all up here.

Delayed telecast either on Fox from 11pm or Ch7 from 11:20pm.

Welcome to Sydney...
