So why isn't JR in. From what I gather he has been returning to form in the Bullants. He is meant to be finally fit as well. If it is a straight swap between him and Davies, no contest.

I don't know, but it seems a given now that the 'Pies will rotate players to keep a squad of 26+ players in the selection mix. The resoning is to give players a go at the big time, so they can accurately assess them. That way you are not wholly reliant on 22 tried and true.

Maybe JR is a known quantity, they know he's fit now and there 2 or three other guy's who may not be as good, but are not far off it. JR could come in at anytime without a hiccup.

Jammo on the other hand is also known quantity, but he's a special size and we don't have anyone anywhere near as good yet. He need match fitness in a hot contest, so he get's a gig.

I've got no doubt that JR will be in the finals side.

If he doesn't show form he shouldn't be promoted. Hasn't backed up his form from last year so far and is running out of time.

The MC will play him. He will play reserves tomorrow and the next week and then slot into the ones for round 24 and then play finals.

Id still say Jamo is 50/50 for tomorrow. Just a hunch.

No.

Look, it's about earning your right to get in, but also earning your right to stay in. Davies hasn't really put a foot wrong, had Coaches votes for the Melb game - how many did JR get before he got dropped??

It's not about being walk up starts, unless you're a Judd, Jamo, Waite, Murphy, Gibbs.

So, JR doesn't get in until someone in defense mucks up and gets dropped. You don't drop Davies when he;s doing well.

The other thing is, JR was turning it over a bit when he was playing this year, prob more than any other defender. Something to consider !

I agree with you and that's the point. JR was out of form for several reasons and was deservedly dropped. He has worked his way back into form and fitness in the two's. Wouldn't you want to see how he goes in the seniors during the home and away rather than chancing him in the finals? You want your best team in and at the moment at peak form that is JR over Davies. Davies has had a taste and would be unlucky to be dropped no doubt but which is better for the team?

Good point. JR's been playing Bullants so will be getting match fit. One of his best games for us was the elim final last year too.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Hammer come in for the Saints game (MK out with "soreness") - assuming he gets through the Bullants games unscathed - to give him a run in the seniors before finals selection.

Jamo will play on Hale and Bailey IMO. Both don't have too much athletism to overwork Jamo after a couple of months out, also allows Hendo to play CHB on Buddy.

Going in as clear underdogs. Just the way I like it

I hope the boys give the Hawks all they can handle......and then some.

Time to shake this comp up and let everyone know that Carlton 2011 is the real deal. This is our chance.

Although nothing better than beating the dawks, well the bummers maybe, don't get too carried away. 2012 will probably be our year.

I thought JR would have been back this week, a little disappointing.
Reckon there'd be a chance that he'd come in for Jamo as a late withdrawal.

Anyone reckon there's a chance we'll play Davies on Buddy?

Dunno mate, the guy who told me wasn't even definite about it but reckoned there is a strong chance he'll be sub.

Duigen Jamison Thornton
Yarren Laidler Joseph
Scotland Carrazzo Simpson
Gibbs Henderson Gartlett
Walker Kruezer Betts
Warnock Judd Murphy
Armfield Robinson Ellard

Joseph for Rioli & Laidler for Franklin with support from Thornton as 3rd up.
Time to stretch Hawthorn backline with Hendo/Kruez combination
Carrazzo to take Mitchell & Gibbs to run with Hodge
