In the first rounds of the finals all members, whether you are social club or silver, get first chance to purchase tickets.
When purchasing them you get the choice of what type you want, so if you want standard then chose standard. There are not as many standard seats available so you may have to chose an upgrade if these have sold out. As for the GF, a ballot system is now in place and you have to register prior to the Prelim final with credit card details. Social club members have priority so will get a ticket, silver members to into a ballot after they have also registered.
My hubby is a Collingwood legends member so i know how it works.
First weeks of the finals are pretty affordable, it gets very expensive if the you get to past week 2.

As well as being a Carlton Social Club Member I am also a Geelong September Member which means when Geelong made the 2007, 2008 & 2009 Grand Finals I was guaranteed a GF ticket provided I registered my intention to take up my ticket.

In previous years when it came to GF tickets when registering for the ballot you did get to nominate the types of ticket that you would be happy to purchase (so if budget dictates you can nominate standing room and / or the cheaper seats). I have found, as Kezza mentioned, that each year the number of cheaper seats available has diminished. What may have been standard seating is now regarded as prime and prime now premium.

To increase your chances of securing a GF ticket you pretty much have to be open to paying for a premium seat.

thanks for that info, makes sense to me

so when we make GF and i am registered as you state then its just a matter of the ticket being allocated to me and i pick it up from the club or TM? or better still its emailed to me and i print myself. that would sure beat lining up at arts centre as i did in 1999, i was social so was guaranteed but still got there at 4.00am

If we make a Grand Final there's no way I'll be entering the AFL membership ballot - bugger-all hope of securing a ticket. Have made sure there's money put away to go all out on one of those corporate packages with the decent seats and function included, probably purchased through North Melbourne. I figure it saves me disappointment should we make it, and it would be money well spent.

Let's just take it one week at a time, though.

I have to go my daughters school musical on the first Friday night of the Finals.

What chance are we of playing the Friday night?.....please say none.

If we finish fifth, I think its fairly likely. Last few years has seen 5 vs 8 go on the Fri night, the only reason we were on Sunday last year, was to ensure the winner of Hawthorn/Fremantle got a fair go to prepare for their semi final.

Only way that changes is if Freo somehow finish 6th I guess.

If the ladder stays as is Hawthorn v Geelong are a lock for Friday Night.

AFL have made clear now that the Qualifying finals will be the Friday and Saturday nights, as they are the better games and they want those in primetime. Which is why last year the top team lost the right to play on the Sunday and get the longest break (which had happened for the last heap of years prior), and which is why Collingwood v Geelong is on the Friday night, to still give a 7 day break minimum. Collingwood as they finished first will get the extra days break and will be Sat night and therefore Geelong vs Hawthorn (or whoever) will be Friday night

That is all true, but you'd think they would prefer Carlton v Essendon* on a Saturday night, than a Sat/Sun arvo. Having said that Carlton v interstate side at the dome is a lock for an afternoon game.

Sounds rather reasonable.

Having said that though - Freo or Sydney finishing sixth fixes this problem quite as easily!

I am just excited that finally i get see Carlton play in a final again. I think i am correct in saying that the last time we played a final in Melbourne was 10 years ago against Richmond.

It's a shame we could easily go another year without a final at the MCG though

Guys,

What is the quickest way to get tickets on Monday.

Going to club, or calling ticketmaster.

Standard or premium ?
