I think both Essendon* and Adelaide are sneaky chances to beat the Eagles over there...

But if we end up playing an interstate team here, lock in Etihad. Bloody hell what a shame.... And if we win we're probably haded to Subiaco.

It is our only chance. If we beat Hawthorn next Friday night we are all going to have to go for Essendon* against the Eagles.

The other thing that no one has looked at is. We can't rule out Fremantle as 8th. They play North and Sydney play Saints. Freo win and Saints win Freo are in 8th spot. The following week they play Pies in WA and Sydney are at Skilled Stadium.
Which will most likely still leave Freo 8th heading into the last week. Freo v Dogs at Etihad and Sydney v Brisbane at the SCG.
I favour Sydney to win at least 1 which means Freo will need to win both at Etihad.

Whoever plays the Swans in week 1 will be at Etihad...

If it's us then so be it, it's a home (state) final so let's rock the place with 50,000 Carlton fans.

The footy gods are against us - took so long to play finals again and two years in a row its interstate, get a home final and its at Etihad most likely

Win taht and we travel to WA..........

Shouldnt complain too much I suppose, just have to think back to how empty it felt being a Blues supporter from 2005 - 2007, they were 3 hard years

Completely agree with this, footy gods are against us! The best scenario is we win last two and West Coast slip up, giving us a crack at Collingwood in a qualifying final. Otherwise, we'll be heading to Subiaco in Week 2 of the finals (if we make it to Week 2)

Can you imagine if we play Essendon* in an elimination final (after being the first team since 1996 to not get in the top 4 with 16.5 wins) and get done by that scumbag mob, it would be crushing to say the least!

Would love another crack at Sydney for a bit of revenge for last seasons loss in the finals.

Swans will be an easier team than Bombers - slower than teh Dons and dont have as many options up forward

It would be a nice touch to knock them over after they did it to us last year - you cant avenge the loss, but it owuld be nice to beat the Centrelink Swans

Essendon* finishing 8th = MCG final
Sydney, Freo or Norf finishing 8th = Etihad final

Bloody Swans slipping, they were looking a lock for 6th or 7th.

A 50K Carlton fan full Etihad against an interstate team is a far better result than a neutral venue elimination final v a traditional rival..
Rich might have done us a big favour today.

We do by a 1, with Scotland kicking the point after the siren!

I'd prefer we be 2 points up, Thomas or Swan kicking from the edge of the goalsquare after the siren, and miss.

Not bad boys, I'll take either one

Or this....my dream scenario has Judd dispossessing Swan in the Collingwood goal square, burning off Thomas and Pendlebury with lightning acceleration as he bounces his way through the centre of the mcg, then sensing there are only seconds left launching a huge torp which spirals through post high as the siren sounds. Carlton by one point!
Then as we cheer and hug and celebrate we gain even more joy as we spot Eddies face on the big screen, circa Brownlow medal night 2010

....maybe next year

I reckon we will end up playing Essendon* at the G first final.... gee that Geelong loss and Essendon* draw has come back to haunt us.

Meh. We all reckon we're unlucky to not finish top 4. That being the case we have to beat whoever crawls into 8th. Fact.

We have earned the right to choose where we play by finishing higher than St Kilda and Essendon*, it is our home final and it is a serious possibility that by playing at Etihad that some of our 43 plus thousand members will not have access to purchase a ticket, once you factor in medallion and AFL members there will be less than 43k tickets on sale and we'd fighting with Sydney members for those...

I don't know about you all but i pay a shit heap of money every year to have access to buy tickets to home finals and the grand final should Carlton participate....i'll be [REDACTED] if i'm missing out on our first final in Melbourne in a decade because members have snapped them up in the 2 hours on the Monday because i couldn't get to a computer or an outlet until lunch...it is bullshit it is unfair that by being the fifth best side in the comp that Essendon* and St Kilda supporters have a greater chance of getting a finals ticket than our members and supporters when our players have earned us the right to those tickets by being a better side...Essendon* is an away team playing an away final...St Kildas home deck is Etihad ours is a mixture of Etihad and the MCG our administration should have the choice of venue it is only fair compensation for the better year we've had.

Stuff Essendon* and St Kilda we're the better side we choose where we play let those sets of supporters fight it out their sides werent good enough to earn them the opportunity...imagine Collingwood was fifth and had to play Sydney where would they play and what would Eddie say?? There is your answer..

First vs four has traditionally gone on Sunday, giving the top team the longest break. Last year was the exception as there was a home final at Subi to consider.

Geelong vs. Hawthorn Saturday night at the G seems the most likely after that.

Based on that article, I think we're playing Etihad if we get Sydney :(

Sydney are in the box seat for 8th. They have St Kilda, Geelong and Brisbane, needing to win two to overtake the Bombers for 7th. (Bombers will beat Port in two weeks).

They may only win 1 more game - they play Geelong at Skilled.

If Freo win 2 more games and Sydney win 1 more, they will go past Sydney by 2 pts and sneak into 8th.

It seems that no one wants to finish 8th because all the teams in contention just keep losing

Given that week two most likely sees us play either West Coast in Perth, or Collingwood (please God yes), a nice and easy first-up final against a dispirited team like the swans would be perfect for us.

Bloody glad that St Kilda keeps on winning and stays away from 8th. Happy also if we avoid Essendon*, who are unpredictable and on their day can challenge anyone. The swans however, are nothing more than an honest middle of the table team without the firepower to surprise us on the day.
