Thanks Richmond, now we have to barrack for the saints against the swans next week

Please explain why Etihad?....

Assuming we finish 5th, it's likely that there'll be 4 games in Victoria. The AFL never play at the same venue twice in a day, so there'll be at least one game at Etihad.

If we wind up with Sydney, there's a real chance that could be us, especially considering that Collingwood look likely to host the other interstate team in the 8 (West Coast).

I'll have a crack:

It's our home ground and we'd be playing an interstate team. Collingwood will get the G no matter who they play, and Geelong vs Hawthorn would certainly be at the G as well you'd think.

So with that match-up, it's a no brainer we'd be at Etihad.

So by finishing higher we would have no choice in where we play our home final? Doubt it....

Saints & Bombers fans would riot in the streets if they had to play their final at Etihad when they could well fit more in the G than we would versus the Swans. It'd be the right call.

So there is no incentive to finish higher unless we draw a team with more support? Haha....sounds dumb....I still reckon we we would be the one rioting as there should be 70,000 plus Blues supporters at the G to see our first home final in 10 years....reckon bombers saints get the dome....

Week 1:

Collingwood vs West Coast - No way will Eddie McChins let this be at Etihad, 70,000 members etc.

Geelong vs Hawthorn - Best matchup of the week, at the G for sure

Essendon* vs St Kilda - two Melbourne teams, big Essendon* following, again at the G

Which leaves....

Carlton vs Sydney...interstate team, unfortunately a no brainer because the others are almost certain to be at the G

Let's petition for a double header on Saturday at the G

You do make a good point however about us finishing higher and getting 1st preference on venue choice.....but this is the Afl and all they care about is the bottom line

I reckon the bombers will be keen to play on etihad. So would the saints. Both teams play their best football on that ground.
The bombers look a complete different team on that ground.

AFL might go for the extra 10 thousand fans though. Both games will sellout at etihad we would get 75000 at MCG the Bombers/Saints will get 85,000.

TV ratings will also come into it.

The AFL will give us the opposite to what we want. Lock it in :thanks:

Why couldn`t they shift Carl v Haw to the G if they are so worried about fans getting in?

Bit bloody hard to argue for the MCG when the stadium we're trying to avoid is actually our home ground (and by our choosing).

You make your bed, you lie in it.

I think we all agree that negotiating a good deal at the G once our Etihad contract is up is of primary importance. We belong there.

Pity they can't/won't stick Melbourne at docklands.

You'd think the scum's place in the 8 is now assured, but don't forget Norf and Freo can still mathematically make it.

I for one am more than happy for these teams to smack themselves in the head to play us in the finals

If the Swans beat the Saints in Sydney, we're back to a Carl V Essendon* final. That's quite possible now since 'The Streak V2.0' is over.

It look like we could play Sydney first week in and Etihad has to have one game if four are played in Melb in week one I think

So I reckon if we do get teh Swans we will play at that hole Etihad - win that and Eagles lose I think we are off to WA in week 2 against the Eagles, hope I'm wrong though

I think both Essendon* and Adelaide are sneaky chances to beat the Eagles over there...

But if we end up playing an interstate team here, lock in Etihad. Bloody hell what a shame.... And if we win we're probably haded to Subiaco.

The footy gods are against us - took so long to play finals again and two years in a row its interstate, get a home final and its at Etihad most likely

Win taht and we travel to WA..........

Shouldnt complain too much I suppose, just have to think back to how empty it felt being a Blues supporter from 2005 - 2007, they were 3 hard years

Etihad is technically our home ground.

Still think if we win our last two games we will finish 3rd.

Hawthorn's last game up on the Gold Coast may not be as easy as people think it will be.

West Coast will drop one of there last three games.
