Happy with the win, but still a few areas we need to improve. Would have liked it if we played with more dash in the last.

Did what we had to, and in truth is the sort of margin I was expecting. But it is frustrating that it came about through one quarter of scintillating footy when the other three were pretty ordinary.

Plenty to work on for our final H&A games, and hopefully players to come back. With Freo over there, Hawks and a fast-finishing Saints, we need to improve on our last couple of games not just for the result (and our top 4 aspirations) but to get some crucial momentum coming into September (and shutting the mouths of all these cocksmokers bagging us for only beating bottom-8 teams would be good too).

Just back from the game. Curious contest. They were all over us early but kicked dreadfully. We poleaxed them in the 2nd and then played out a lacklustre last half. The usual suspects were great. Doesn't really give us much of a handle on our finals chances. The next few weeks will. It is a pity that we are not able to pick close to our best side at the moment. Jammo and Waite are must inclusions but will have few games before the finals. TBird, McLean, Davies and AJ, were okay today but probably nervous about retaining their spots. They all look vulnerable.

Warnock was great against a skinny young kid. Hope Hammo can get back, still not sure about Warnock against a strong ruckman. Was hoping Setanta would get the call up to replace Armfield, not sure how much value there is in having Houla as the sub two weeks in a row. AJ was really the swap for Armfield. We're travelling well but have 5 or 6 to come back which is good but means we will go into the finals a little unsettled.

Big game next week with several players playing for their spot. Think Tuohy is settling well, got caught ball watching a few times but he may well be in the side come finals which is a great achievement

The only real worry where our backline was concerned was when the ball came in fast, and on the quick rebound. When our opposition leave their forward line open, it's always a worry for us.

What opposition teams will take out of this is how we chipped the ball around for long periods in the 2nd half, and eventually an opportunity would arise from a mistake. It's an unfortunate after-effect of our ordinary years, and I'd be surprised if teams don't try this tactic themselves.

Rapt to win.

Very ho hum and unimpressive 70 odd point win though for mine, other than second quarter.

Plenty to work on in the rest of the H&A. Thought we were pretty poor today at times. Too cute with the ball and major fluctuations in intensity.

More than happy to take the points and move on.

Let's smash the Dockers next week.

don't mind the easing off in the last quarter we have Freo next week and Hawtorn after. The season is a marathon nd 'dosing' your effort is important. Spend to much energy now and we will pay for it later when we may really need it.

Oh and that broken leg to the Melbourne player. Nasty, not something I wwould wish on anybody.

You should concentrate more on your punctuation than jumping at shadows.

Hendo has been fine down back.

I'd prefer to see one great quarter of footy than 4 slug-outs against an opponent we should brush aside. Which we did.

The guys were obviously not totally switched on, which can be a problem, but I suspect we all knew Melbourne would come out hard and physical, and it's just a matter of riding that out then putting on a show.

This match was as meaningless to the big picture as the Gold Coast match. The main thing is we got the points, and percentage.

Well done Carlton - professionally done

Rapted with a few of our, what some might call, bottom 6.
Davies did the job on Green, AJ pwned Davey again, Tbird is playing with zest, Tuohy was solid in defense and provided dash, Brock despite his obvious deficiencies provided support and Ellard chimed in with 3.

I'm loving Scotto this year - BOG today - magic game.

Some will no doubt call for change in our defense but I'd be reluctant to change as continuity is so important as they are learning to cohesively operate together. Jamo the obvious inclusion when he's right but for the moment leave it be.

Nice to see the big grin on Robbies face - monkey off the back with that goal and a top performance in the ruck today.

Robbie did well today but he was against no-one again. His real test comes next week with Sandilands back in. He was also beaten by McEvoy against the Saints earlier this year I thought so it will be good to see him go against him again. Unless Hammer is back in by then.

T-Bird's double tackle was brilliant :D Interestingly we got beaten in the tackle count.

Duigan was looking a bit slow and tired today.

Scotland was great again and probably up there with that Judd bloke for BOG.

Gee we just look so much better at the MCG and we're also way more accurate there.

Some of you guys could be walking down the street find $50, and still turn to the missus and complain that if only the bloke in front had dropped another you'd have $100.

If you want to know where we're at, watch the replay and turn it off at half time. The second half is pretty irrelevant.

Thought Warnock set up the win in the first half. He gave the midfield silver service albeit against a inexperienced ruck. Having said that you still need to hit to advantage and Robbie did that. JUDD was super, and 'it moved' when he kicked that left foot snap for goal.

Brock had good patches and got his hands dirty. Duigan was way out of sorts and might need a rest. Tuohy had a solid game. Scotland continued his stellar season and ellard showed some good goal sense. Murphy and Gibbs were outstanding.

Here's a bombshell.

I'll touch on it now but will expand further during the week when Ive settled down a bit and can gather my thoughts and put them into words.

I've never left a 70 point winning game with such an awful taste in my mouth.

And its got nothing to do with our performance, with Melbourne's, or the umps.

It's all a result of who happened to be seated next to me, and the things I heard him say CONSTANTLY during the game.

The man I'm talking about is John Murphy, yes, Marc's father.

I sat next to him during the game, heard all his calls and mutterings, and as I said before, I left the game as upset as I have when we've been flogged.

This man is a CANCER to our club, and to Marc. And must be controlled.

In my post later this week I'll include the 5 or 6 different calls I heard him yell out during the game,

at one stage in the last qtr he actually said in disgust " I cant believe he's signed with this bloody club"

and that wasnt the worst of them!

JOHN MURPHY IS AN ENEMY WITHIN.

to be continued.......
