Dare I say it, but Richmond hold a playing hand in our finals makeup.

They play the Eagles, Swans (MCG), Demons and Kangaroos before the season is out.

They have a habit of late season upsets that have their fans calling Top 4 the following year.

On current form meeting Melbourne in the first week would be like having another bye.

The most surprising aspect of this thread is the lack of insistence from Moshe and Jimmae for the grammatical correction to the thread title....

I thought that the preliminary final actually was the "penultimate" day?

No, it's the penultimate day.

(But you didn't mind "laxasaisical"???)

I'd say Essendon* will finish 8th.

Assuming Essendon* beat Port (at Etihad), only one more win is required from either the Swans or Doggies with both games at Etihad (Only ground Essendon* is good at) to rule out Melbourne (they would need to win their last 3 games, and then make up 14% in the process which is highly unlikely, especially with games against Carlton and West Coast in the next two weeks).

Freo would need to win 2 of their last 5 to displace Essendon*, but only have home games left against Carlton and Collingwood with away games against St Kilda, North and the Dogs.

North would need to win against either Hawthorn or St Kilda, then beat Freo and Richmond.

Bulldogs would need to win their last 4 games against Essendon*, Hawthorn, North and Freo.

So 5th place would see Carlton v Essendon* with the winner most likely to play West Coast at Patterson's in a semi.

Could you imagine the meltdown if we lost an elimination final to the Bummers?

Essendon* don't have a team on the park. I'm tipping they are gone.

I would feel pretty confident at the G against any of North Footscray Ess or Melb.

Sadly, 13th is the highest they can realistically achieve. :(
