Good solid win. North have been playing good football and are a handy side.

Freo will beat Hawthorn and Bulldogs could easily beat WCE so Top 4 looking better.

Like Thornton up forward. Concerned with the match ups opposition sides will now have on Eddie. Going for the taller mobile defender and that makes it hard especially the way we use the ball.

Brock's the interesting one. IMO we need two of Ellard, Curnow and Brock in the side. His weaknesses are obvious but that bigger body around the ball is vital. We may just have to wear his weaknesses to have him as part of midfield rotation. We have enough speed out wide to cover. The other option is to play Duigan around the ball. He is off the boil at the moment and a new role will freshen him up?

Hendo needs now to stay at CHB. He is settled, happy and getter better. Please don't move him again or we may have another Setanta. Bring in Jamo at FB. Bower needs to get over his injuries.

Warnock worries me coming into finals. Aggression is needed and at the moment he doesn't have it. Hopefully Hampson will be back soon.

I like Davies but I am not sure you can play Laidler, Davies, Duigan in same defence. Touhy just needs time to settle. Looked better as game went on. Yarran was good, hopefully he will look at tape of a few times he relaxed and his opponent got away. Just needs to learn to play every minute.

Scotland was a star with Gibbs & Simmo not far behind.

With Jamo, Waite, Carrots, Hampson, Russell and possibly White, Bower, Lucas, ROK, Austin all pushing for spots we are looking solid. Form and fitness is now the key!

Good post.

We need to adjust to how the opposition is playing Eddie. If they player a taller defender then he needs to push up the ground and run him around, then get back and crumb off the packs and chase and tackle to provide something.

Davies is ok in defence with Laidler and Duigan as long as he's playing the 2nd tall role that would normally be filled by Hendo/Bower/Jamo.

Sorry, just needed to quote this again...but this is what the MC were thinking weeks ago while the TC MC were crying for him to be moved forward

I would imagine Davies will be the one making way for Jamo unless he can really find touch and take Duigans or Touhy's spot which i cant see happening.

Tbird looks like the one who will lose his spot to Waite i reckon.

Great game by Hendo of Petrie. He's showing some dash is Lachie. Intersting to see whether Ratts keeps him in the backline once Jamo comes back...
Fantastic to see Gibbs kick goals . Though thats one area of his game he needs to improve in, and he did a good job of it last night...

Duigan - How the hell was this guy overlooked by every other club. He is courage personified. His mark in the last was Kenny Hunter-esque..

Simmo - continues to be underrated, but gets the job done most weeks. Another typical Simmo game.

Judd - Ws never going to put in a blinder after teh interupted week that hes had. Showed what a true champion he really is by working his way into the game despite being double teamed early. True champions stand up when the pressure is on, and Judd slotted a long goal from outside 50 when the game was on the line early in the last.

Thought Brock was good at the tough stuff he's in the team to do... Had something like 9 tackles for the game, so that almost guarantees him a game against his old mob next week...

The question is, if Setanta goes ok in the VFL should we bring him in next week assuming Waite doesn't come up in time? Should Setanta be playing in a team with Jamo, Hendo, Waite and Kreuzer? I would probably say no. Then again, would love to see how he Setanta goes in a final - he hasn't played in one yet.

Ok "if" Hendo stays at CHB as many are mentioning what do we do;

1. Forward to support Waite? Setanta, Kruezer, Hampson, Warnock, Thornton, Bower are not forwards and will not do the job come finals. Really disappointed with Kruez up forward so far.
2. How do we fit in Bower, Watson or Thornton into our backline? For me Bower is just as good as Henderson both defensively and offensively. Hendo's offensive kicking is a delight I must say and really enjoyed watching him play over the past couple of weeks but Bower is just as good when up and going as well.

We need Henderson forward in the finals. He's support for Waite is crucial if we are to proceed into the preliminaries. Bower & Jamison are our KP defenders. This also allows us flexibility.
So we cannot have 2 Henderson's but do have another named Bower.

What's wrong with Thornton up forward with Waite. He seems to play good footy each time he plays there. Allows Kreuzer to play his role as ruckman resting forward. Henderson is playing his best footy in defence as he did for Brisbane. He stays there.

Interesting post-match presser from Ratts.

One of the first things he addresses is the fact that Norf always pick us for their friday night fixture and set themselves for us, and dealing with this. Clearly he wanted to put Norf in their place because of this

I don't think there is a consipracy. They got 41000 crowd with only 12000 of their own members showing up.

it may be to create a Friday night tradition to follow into Good Friday.

it's Ok for Brett to use it as a spur pre-match but to continue after the game sounds a bit whiney.

Brad scott reckons they ran out of legs in the last because of their 6 day break, although they had 6 hours of extra break on Carlton.

It's because you played an unsustainable brand of footy, idiot.

he's becoming the next Sheedy, spin, spin, spin.

A line up something like this should do the trick.

Yaz Jamo Laidler
Duigan Henda Gibbs/scotland
simpson Curnow Gibbs/scotland
garlett Waite Robbo
Betts Kreuzer Walker

Hampson/Warnock Murphy Curnow

INT from Armfield touhy Carrazzo Russ Brock etc

No room to squeeze Henda in up forward unless you want to not rest ruck up forward. Not sure how that would work.
That position i have named robbo in is the one we rotate players through. Muphy, Gibbs, Simpson, armfield, Robbo, Gibbs all roll through there and onball and it has been quite an effective tactic.

There's no spot for McLean in our best 22 IMO.......painfully slow in reaction and leg speed.

Brock might not of set the world on fire but he was servicable

What bringing him did do was allow Ellard to play a lot better than what he had been - he could hunt the ball more thought it was Ellards best game for quite some time

Davies was good I thought this kid was on the way out
Touhy looked set for a horror but recoverd well to play a really good second half
Bryce Gibbs is Mr versatile of the AFL he gets given a different role each week and excells he is fast becoming my favourite player
Terrific game from Hendo - Petrie was the inform forward of the comp and he is a big man to cope with
Simmo had one of his better games

Just give me 22 Health Scotlands I would take them anyday - he is superb
Garlett was down a bit as was Eddie but you would have to love the tackle he laid on Harvey

Was Johncock and Mcleaod as good as Yarren at this age - I dont think so - He just gets and goes and his kicking skills are up there with the best

Struggle to kick straight at Etihad I was wondering why - Cant be the ball they use them and other grounds

Do the players wear different boots at that stadium because something not right

Not a bad team, though I'd probably think about bringing in C Judd.....

I was out last night - came and read TC to see a fair bit of bagging of mclean.

Then I watched the match - brock mclean was nowhere near as bad as some people here make out. One bad bit of play where he completely misjudged the tackel but did some good things - intelligent shepherds/blocks, some good handballs to release players and was involved in a good bit of play on the wing where he did a lot right ie handball, link up receive, handball, linkup receive... (where judd got pinged for incorrect disposal despite handballing it)
