Finals is coming up and our side is still no where near settled. Hopefully we will finish Top 4 and and the key will be how we match up with Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn.

Finals are hard, tough shut down games and the bonus for us is that we could easily play all at the MCG.

For me:

B: Touhy Jamison Laidler
HB: Yarran Henderson Duigan

C: Waite Ellard Scotland
Foll: Hampson Judd Murphy

HF: Garlett Thornton Gibbs
F: Betts Kruezer Walker

Int: Simpson Carrazzo Robinson (Russell)

Trying to fit Brock or Curnow in but not sure how?

Waite on a wing makes us very hard to match up. Can go to key position if struggling or injury and allows runner as sub. Top third man up and tall through midfield makes a huge difference.

Thornton is the worker across HF and reads the play well and helps smalls.

Hammer for Warnock. Like more mongrel in finals.

Defence has run, skill and toughness and matches up on anyone. Scotland will always drop back to help.

Russell, Armfield, Houlihan, Curnow options for sub. Will depend on form.

Forward line has options. Can go tall and small at different times. Will enjoy space of MCG.

Lots of options through midfield and bench. Absolute must!

Duigen Jamison Laidler
Russell Bower Yarran
Gibbs McLean/Curnow Simpson
Robinson Waite Gartlett
Betts Henderson Walker
Kruezer Judd Murphy
Warnock/Hampson Scotland Carrazzo Houlihan
Emerg: Armfield Ellard Thornton
McLean/Curnow & Warnock/Hampson = form.
No Passengers!

Love the fact our supporters just jump on (champion) and off (who?) "our" players.   :banghead:

LUCAS, LUCAS, LUCAS.

Is the missing player. He'll play one or two more GOOD Bullants games and come in as a sub, get the pace of the game and play a big part in the finals.

Remember ........... LUCAS!

I think clarification needs to be made that this is for Carlton not the Ants, all Bower references should be made at talking bullants.
I liked the first team listed, just change Zac for JR

I am a huge fan of Lucas but is a long way from it at the moment. Still struggling with injury and a poor pre season. He is a long term player and needs another full pre season. I expect him to step up in 2012.

90% fit is a better option than 100% Brock and probably a few more.

Lucas is struggling.

Depends on structure. We desperately need that inside player. If we had a Swan or Boyd we would be awesome.

As I said Lucas is very talented and I am a fan but we need to be realistic. He is very young, played less than 20 games and hasn't played senior football for a long while and his form at the Bullants is average at best.

Sometimes we need to be cautious and see the bigger picture, he is a 'potential' 200 game A grade player. Leave him this season, get himself right and see him firing in 2012.

Said in the first post, Don't want him in until he's played two good Bullant games.

Fair enough. That will give Brock a few weeks in the firsts to see if he can cut it.
If not we will have to cut our losses.

Hopefully Lucas can come good.

I will leave Austin aside for the moment because I know how you feel about him, but delisting Collins would be absurd. He has had a horror run this year, needs to be given a chance. I know the kid can play, just needs some confidence and an injury free run. Let's wait and see how he goes in 2012.

I saw enough against Essendon* in round 4 to know he isnt in the long term plans of the Carlton Football Club.

Nah just surprised you would name a guy who has played next to no football for over two seasons and is still a major unknown quantity....

Trying to fit Brock or Curnow in but not sure how?

Had a good first quarter last night did David, but he faded badly after that. He is physically spent at the moment, which for those who know Ellard's game says a lot about how our style of football can be quite wasteful.

The other names I'd have for consideration are Houlihan (assuming he didn't just end his career last night), Kerr, Lucas and Bower. Warnock and Setanta are emergencies for this list of names, rather than selection ideas.

I know some think that playing Waite on a wing is a good move but i dont think Ratts will go with that. He loves him up forward and that to me looks like where we will get best value from him.

My lineup leaves us open to disaster if we get an injury to a tall during a game but i reckon that is where we are as a team.
We are not good enough to carry an extra tall for insurance. We need the extra runners to keep the upper hand in at the clearances.
When we win the clearances we are very hard to beat.

...also Russ is the sort of player that can play tall so he does supply a little cover.
