I doubt I'm the one you're referring to, but I do remember thinking it at the time. Couldn't believe Swallow was still available at that pick and was certain we were going to draft him.

Here's some thoughts...someone wanted him at Pick 4 (which means he'd probably be at West Coast now).

You may find something here too

OMG....I wanted Austin Lucy at Pick 20

Oh, I hate Etihad Stadium too.

If I'd woken this morning to hear the place had burned down I'd have been relieved I never had to go there again.

Hendo best game for the club. We have found our CHB, didn't realise he had that much toe
Scotland superb
Yarran sublime
Gibbs - super classy but still slightly hesitant at the contest once or twice, can't see him doing a Duigan or Simmo
Army great job on Wells till injured
Warnock just has no strength. When Harvey pushes him out of marking contests it is a worry
TBird was good but again took time off a contest to complain to the umpire, ensuring we lost the contest
Thought McLean was solid and played his best game for us
Too often they managed to flood our forward line and leave their own totally open.
Forward line very ordinary until Gibbs got up there
Love to have Swallow in our side, he would make Juddy and even more effective player
Thought Davies and Tuohy were solid and will become good players. Davies has more pace than I thought

Tuohy worked himself into the contest beautifully.

Tuohy?? Don't you mean Toovey?? :screwy:

Agree with your general sentiment - it was a good win I thought, we controlled the game, couldn't put it on the board, but kept fighting and justice prevailed. If we kick straight with our setshots (something we did very well last week) we win by 7-8 goals. North came to play and provided us with a high intensity contest - as the commentators said, they are probably going as well as Sydney and Freo and certainly better than Melbourne, Essendon*, Dogs etc. I don't think it was the horrible/terrible game people seem to be saying here, I thought it was a good game, we were just a bit frustrating with our inaccuracy but that kept it a contest for longer.

As much as I'd like Hendo to be a forward, he looks a new man down back, like the world's no longer on his shoulders. He also seems to be able to show his agility and speed more than he does down forward. Not saying he can't play forward down the track, but at least Jamo's absence has shown we have a capable fill in.

Thought Simpson and Scotland were our best last night, both have enormous courage. Wasn't Juddy's night but he really willed himself into the contest.

I haven't been a Davies fan but he showed more last night than he has in previous games - still can get caught in the headlights a bit though. Tuohy has the potential to be a lock in our best 22. Brock's game wasn't so bad either, by no means brilliant but apart from a couple of missed tackles, he played a solid game. Hopefully his form warrants a longer stay in the side.

Ok "if" Hendo stays at CHB as many are mentioning what do we do;

1. Forward to support Waite? Setanta, Kruezer, Hampson, Warnock, Thornton, Bower are not forwards and will not do the job come finals. Really disappointed with Kruez up forward so far.
2. How do we fit in Bower, Watson or Thornton into our backline? For me Bower is just as good as Henderson both defensively and offensively. Hendo's offensive kicking is a delight I must say and really enjoyed watching him play over the past couple of weeks but Bower is just as good when up and going as well.

We need Henderson forward in the finals. He's support for Waite is crucial if we are to proceed into the preliminaries. Bower & Jamison are our KP defenders. This also allows us flexibility.
So we cannot have 2 Henderson's but do have another named Bower.

Umps are tightening up on Juddy - got pinged for holding a few times this week and last week - but even so, he's still just awesome.

Everyone in my area loved it

One thing I noticed about Norf was apart from when they'd kick those easy coast-to-coast goals  they really struggled with their kick ins when we were properly set up. Scotland picked off quite a few and others went to boundary throw ins which we created scoring opps from - honestly the game should have been in the bag at half time.

Definitely not one to put in the time capsule. Maybe if Gibbs had kicked 5. Massively over-umpired game.

Jamo and Hendo down back supported by Laids Duigan Yazz Gibba and Tuohy.

Waitey, Krooz and Walks up forward supported by EDDIEBETTS and Jeffy.

Just give us the cup.

I hate it too. We don't play the game there well at all. Nearly all our shots for goal are from the pockets.

Give me the G any time.

I loved Collo as a player but he certainly [REDACTED] up sending us to play at this hole.

And had to wait forever to get a train out of the joint

   Perhaps we need to see a list of his other suggestions before we role out the red carpet.

Didn't see it properly but does Thornton need to be worried with his hit on Swallow in the 3rd quarter ?

I disagree, this game showed our improvement and growth as a team.
North kept coming at us all night, don't forget this is "north only Friday night game" and "last finals chance", etc ... we kept at them all night and even when they got away a couple of times we pegged them back nicely and quickly. Great stuff by us for 4 quarters. Tough and hard footy. Just should have kicked better in the 1st half.

I love watching Bower when he's "up" but it's a long time since he's been there. If he was at his best at the moment we'd be really flexible but he's just miles off at the moment.

What will be worse is listening to that flowering flowerstick of a flowering moron Jeff Gieschen justifying this pathetic flowering flowerstick of a decision.

"It was technically correct"

It was technically incorrect. Laidler was on the boundary line when he kicked the ball and actually kicked the ball in board by about 7 metres. It took a sharp turn and went out. If he kicked it just inside the boundary line then there would have been a case to penalise him. 20 free kicks in the first quarter sums up a game that was poorly umpired.

Nothing in it at all. Swallow was doing a Monfrees. Shouldn't have even been a 50 metres penalty.

I was a little concerned we weren't up for the game, but I think we're really looking for the bye and a break to freshen up before the finals and we did tough the game out and its character building to have a few games where you're not playing your best but get the win anyway.

I think we should stick with Hendo in defence for the rest of this season. Bower is our best option long tern but he's not going to get there this season.

Lets not worry about what Chanel 7, paid commentary team says.

They say things to try and make the call interesting, even if factually inaccurate.

Lets look at the facts.

First half bad kicking is bad football. 11 Set shots for 1 goal. Had it been 8-3, In reality we were doing enough.

Second half kept North to 1 goal late in 3rd term and only 2 in last, again, well apart.

So in a low scoring game, winning by 18 points shows a lot of character.

We do need to get Irish back in at Full Forward, if we can.
