Too little or too much? If it's too much, then that group needs to get a grip.

We're a football club for crying out loud - be successful and money will start to flow if managed correctly.

It's not like our football department has been resourced well for years...we were on poverty street during the Pagan years.

Football is a key part of the CFC business plan - or at least I hope it is. What is wrong with investing in the assets, i.e the players that we have.

If they want to get a better ROI from Football Dept expenditure, I would think that the $200k/annum VFL license fee would be the best value for money.

Really sounded like he was scrambling to find something to say. Really weak story.

Also his story on Brian Lake and "interview" with his manager was laughable.

This guy is really bottom of the barrel journalism since he started working for Hutchy.

Whether or not it is accurate, it is disappointing that there appears to be a leak coming from board level. I doubt a journo would blatantly make it up so there has to be something to the story.

On any board or management group of a dozen or so, you would expect conflicting opinions and debate. It's not only normal, it's healthy.

So I've no doubt a couple of board members have raised the question "Should we keep pumping so much money into the football department when A. we have a huge dept, and B. we're underfunding other areas such as membership?"

So if I was a journo, I could easily write that story without any fear that I was getting it wrong. Wouldn't need anyone to be leaking it too.

Here's some other stories I could write:

BULLDOGS BOARD SPLIT OVER RETENTION OF RODNEY EADE

KANGAROOS BOARD SPLIT OVER TASMANIAN FORAY

Essendon* BOARD SPLIT OVER MOVE TO TULLARMARINE

ADELAIDE BOARD SPLIT OVER THE FUTURE OF NEIL CRAIG

Probably the only club you couldn't write one about is Collingwood, because Ed is 100% in control there (don't worry, he'll be the next John Elliot) and the board are there to nod approvingly at the right moments.

Tom Elliot ... have you ever heard him on 3AW ... we don't want another right winged dictator at the helm ... If you've seen the father .. you've seen the son.

A BIG BIG .... NO.

It's about time we had another right wing capitalist at the helm anyway.

I wonder if Andrew Bolt has the time?

Really need some good planners on the Board.

Where are we going to display the next 10 cups we win in a row?

Win the flag this year and the money will flow sooner than later.
Sponsors will be knockin' on the door, the AFL will pay us a few million.

Blue Skies.

with Ratts Richo Brown and the players all travelling beautifully at the moment it's pretty clear the only 'passengers' are the deadwood on the board who are only there for their own networking opportunities and simply riding on the coattails of Mathieson's gift to the club...

strip the deadwood and embrace what the 'outside' world can offer... 60,000+ members waiting...

Just as a matter of interest what do you base this statement on?
