Too many here honestly think they know more than the blokes on the MC.
The MC spend all day 6 days a week with the players, living and breathing football, they know what they are trying to do on the field and what they need to achieve that. You need to concede they know more about than us. Once you have done that you can sit back and try and understand what they are thinking. Most of the time it makes sense. The MC are not trying to lose games.
Based on what I have seen with some selections this year, I honestly believe that I have the right to challenge the logic behind selections...and even more scarily, dare to suggest I may know more about how the players are going then the people who spend 6 days a week with them
1. Have the MC not already conceded that they "rushed" Hendo back in rd 3 too early ???
Ratts has admitted that error. 2. Have the MC not admitted mistakes by dropping Watson after one week...when he was plucked from the ants after hardly appearing in the ant's best more than once ???
I havent heard thim admit that.3. Ditto re Austin ???
They never admitted that was a mistake because it wasnt.4. Did the MC have it right by playing Warnock for a number of weeks while Hammo was rotting away at Cramer St ?
Yes they sent him back because he lost confidence. Had a busted hand and they wanted to change the mix with Carlos taking over. Its not a perfect science. Mistakes will be made. You could find mistakes in Collingwoods selections last year and they won the flag.
You dont know more about selecting players for carlton than the blokes in the MC. I can confidently say that. None of us do.
The MC have a plan and they have selected accordingly. Id say the detected that the bombers really struggle when under intense pressure like what they copped from Crows last week. They also noted that they are capable of running out games.
What do you do? You pick a team that is capable of matching their late run and a team that is capable of getting into position to pull off the press for as long in a game as possible.
They identified last week that we are getting outmarked too easy. What do you do add talls to an already tall side (last week we even had an extra tall). No you look at the tapes and realise that you were probably too tall and couldnt keep rotations around the ball to keep heat on it. Kick coming into the back 50 too fluently and favouring the forwards. Also playing a more mobile team will help us get more numbers to marking contests to kill the contest.
Lets see if these tactics work.
