This is a season defining game. Let's hope the the MC don't let us down again.

Win and we can set ourselves up for a serious run at the top 4.

Lose and I fear it may all fall apart...

Blues by 27 pts

As "brave" as Essendon* has been in their last two wins, the truth is they've been well beaten in their last two first halves. Better teams than Richmond and the Cows wouldn't have squandered the match winning positions they created for themselves.

We should back ourselves in.

Carlton to win this game easily. After a tough couple of games, they will have a field day against the rubbish that is Essendon*...

This match has the potential to be a 100+ point win. Though I'm thinking a 60 point win would be a pass mark considering how hopeless they are.

Key Match-Up's:

A little hard to do as they have so few good players.

Henderson -> Ryder / Hille
Bower -> Crameri
Duigan -> Which ever hack small forwards they bring out

Thornton -> FWD. Probably on Hurley though but we should take the loss there.

Is carrazzo back? If so send him to Zaharakis. Not a great player but one of the few who has the ability to turn it on.

Someone needs to do the defensive thing on Fletcher. Last time was an embarrassment.

IIRC correctly, Laidler played on Hurley last time and tore him a new one. Hurley was running hot, too.

Hendo or T-Bird, back or fwd; 6 of one, half a dozen.... I'd back Bower, Laidler and either one of these guys to get the job done. Fletcher destroyed Hendo last time, so at the end of the day let's just get some continuity and leave T-Bird fwd.

Ins - Tuohy (should have played y'day  )
Outs - Ellard

If Carrots is ready, AJ or Twomey go out for him.

If we win this, we make top 4 IMHO, just think it will give us the momentum we need coming into the finals. WC draw doesn't seem so cushy now with Dogs and Dees away and Freo and Bombers @ home, the latter could be playing for a finals spot @ Subi in the last round.

Interesting to note how many people want carrots back in now.

"You don't know what you've got till it's gone", I think the line of the song goes.

It's not a coincidence the coaches suggest he is one of the first picked every week.

I would love this to be the end of the "drop carrots' debate...but alas it will begin again soon enough.....probably the week he gets back.

I want him back, he's due for a NRS nomination

If Carrazzo & JR are fit, I'd expect them to both come straight back in.

AJ (inj) will be one out. The other will depend on match-ups & weather - ie. do we drop a tall (Bower or Watson - probably Watson) or a running player (likely to be Ellard, Curnow or Twomey)?

All things being equal, I think we'll drop the tall....

B: Duigan Bower Laidler
HB: Yarran Hendo JR
C: Simmo Judd Scotland
HF: Robbo T-Bird Carrazzo
F: Betts Walker Kreuzer

R: Warnock Gibbs Murphy
Inter: Curnow, Garlett, Twomey
Sub: Ellard

In: Carrazzo, JR
Out: AJ (inj), Watson

Armfield, Hoops & Tuohy are in the mix if the MC think Curnow or Ellard need a rest or a spell with the Bullants, and/or if either Carrazzo or JR aren't ready to return.

Brock got injured and reported in the last VFL game he played, so I assume he's not available (?) and I'd like to see Lucas string a few good VFL games together before I'd consider him. Setanta has missed too much footy and will have to come back via the VFL. ROK hasn't played the last 2 weeks, so it's probably unlikely he'll be seriously considered. Davies is something of a forgotten man, and unfortunately for him it will probably stay that way for awhile longer...

I think we'll need big games out of Betts & Garlett to win this one...

As an avid anti-Carrazzoist, I am also on the get carrots back band wagon. I still believe that once Carrots can't gte a game that that is when we become a true contender, but for now he is still in our best 22 and is the defensive mid that makes would have been ideal yesterday and will be ideal for the likes of Morefrees or Zaharakis

They struggle on the MCG.

Hard to judge their form after they had to come from behind to beat an injury depleted Rabblelaide away...They knocked off an out of form Geelong who lost to WC and had to come from behind to beat another rabble today...Form line doesn't look too good...Blues should win it in the middle with Watson out.

Monfries to suddenly find his jelly legs again.

I hesitate to speak on behalf of anybody else however I feel I can sum this game up for every Carlton supporter:

Losing. Is. Not. An. Option.

I thought Watson was a sure thing to play - hope not because he is their extractor and can hurt us.

I hate the Dons more than the ferral woodsman, must win this week

"Anti-Carrazzoist".....

I'm with you though Cranium, at the moment he is an important cog in the rotations and can shut down a good on-baller too. Hope he's back this week.

Results have fallen our way this weekend and this looms as a "8" point game.

Win and we consolidate a top 4 position thus putting us three games clear of 7th and 8th. Lose and a home final starts looking shaky.
