With the Saints beating WC tonight, I just hope the club realises they've been given a great opportunity to re-group and begin the march toward some real September action.
We start the new 6 week season in 4th spot, two points ahead of WC. WC have Freo and then a rampaging WB to contend with over the next couple of weeks.
We can start our new season by halting the Scum's momentum and then sending those paupers from Arden St further away from the top 8.
We'll hopefully get Carrots and JR back in the next week or two with Jamo, Waite and Hammer to follow. In the meantime
1. TBird remains FF, leading from the square
2. Walker and Irish (if available) are our lead up targets.
3. Warnock told in no uncertain terms that Hammer takes his spot automatically if he doesn't start imposing himself on the contest
4. Our back 6 consists of Hendo, PB, Duigan, Yarran, Laidler and Touhy
5. Gibbs plays midfield between the arcs, supporting the defenders, setting up the forwards and occasionally having a shot
6. Watson to play out the rest of the year with the NB...he's just not ready
7. No more tall subs
8. A plan must be put in place if Yarran is deliberately taken out of the game....eg taking on Gibbs' role from point 5.
9. JR and Simmo to play classic wingers giving them space to run
10. Ellard probably needs a spell at Preston...time Kane Lucas to step in

Now if we can hold onto 4th spot and get our injured players back, we will most likely play those arrogant peasants again. Imagine if we could beat them and they completely f$%ck up their back to back defence??????

Your time is now Carlton Football Club. Seize the opportunity. We begin the new season in the top 4. The ball's in your court blues!!!!

.......and watch a replay of the Saints first quarter tonight. The WCE got absolutely strangled, mangled and bullied then cut up with precision kicking and hard running.

We just have to do it that way, we don't have the quality of the Pies, but we've certainly got the Saints covered. The difference is the Saints have remembered just how effective 100% grinding footy is.

We'll hopefully get Carrots and JR back in the next week or two with Jamo, Waite and Hammer to follow. In the meantime
1. TBird remains FF, leading from the square possibly but I prefer him down back with Bower (until Jamo returns) and Hendo up forward
2. Walker and Irish (if available) are our lead up targets. If Carlos is fit I would go back to the tactic of playing him as the second ruck with Kruze and getting the lumbering Warnock out of there.
3. Warnock told in no uncertain terms that Hammer takes his spot automatically if he doesn't start imposing himself on the contestWill replace Carlos as the preferred partner to Kruze
4. Our back 6 consists of Hendo, PB, Duigan, Yarran, Laidler and Touhy TBird insead of Hendo
5. Gibbs plays midfield between the arcs, supporting the defenders, setting up the forwards and occasionally having a shot Good idea....
6. Watson to play out the rest of the year with the NB...he's just not readyYep
7. No more tall subs We can only hope
8. A plan must be put in place if Yarran is deliberately taken out of the game....eg taking on Gibbs' role from point 6.Needs to play on a wing
9. JR and Simmo to play classic wingers giving them space to run JR in defence and Yazz to the wing with Simmo
10. Ellard probably needs a spell at Preston...time Kane Lucas to step in and be told to be hard it or his senior time will be limited but certainly worth getting some games into pre finals

Now if we can hold onto 4th spot and get our injured players back, we will most likely play those arrogant peasants again. Imagine if we could beat them and they completely f$%ck up their back to back defence??????

Good post 99....I have made some comments above....I reckon we have de-railed fitness wise in the last few weeks....hopefully the fitness staff can freshen the boys up for the run home....they must start playing like they mean business again....

99prelim, you are kidding yourself if you think;

Thornton can play ff
O'hAilpin is a lead up forward
Hendo must remain back
Lucas is better than Ellard right now
Our season starts now.

If we were told we would be in this exact position before the season begun, I would of been happy.

WC and Hawthorn will drop games, we just need to get back into form, beginning this week.

If we do, suddenly the North and Melbourne games seem like games we should win too. Freo away, Hawthorn and St Kilda look the toughest. 5 out of 6 will get us top 4, but 4 out of 6 might too.

Surrey, they're my opinions.....after synthesising some of your stuff of late, we may as well shut VISY park down and reopen it in October with a new coach. I actually still believe we may be able to hold our heads up high before the season is out.

Please indulge me with your musings on the way 2011 will pan out for Carlton

If we can find a forward to grab a couple of contested marks and kick a few goals we will be around come preliminary final weekend.

Got any suggestions?

We have a list of players. I would say one thing if Eddie, Yazz and Jeffy are not going to impose themselves in contests we might be better served by less skillful, more physical players like Touhy, Cachia and Kerr.

Should be trying to get Tuohy, Armfield and Kerr into the side over the coming weeks.

Who would have predicted this a month ago but this week has now become the proverbial line in the sand game as far as this season goes.

How 'bout thei Cimm....
Setant and Kreuz alternating off ruck and forward line?
if we can concentrate kKreuz a bit more up forward..so when a tall marks near goal, it tends to be Mattie rather than Rrobbie...we could do really well. (or that is my thinking on it anway.)
