Quote:
Carlton are determined to go into the finals with a top-four spot, giving them a strong chance to improve on their elimination-final defeats of 2009 and 2010.

"It's getting to that stage of the year now where we've really got a strong belief in our game plan and what we're doing and we're really rehearsing for the finals now," Gibbs said.

"Our aim going into this year was we have to win a final.

"Playing Collingwood this week, there's no better team to test your skills against.

"We definitely believe we're good enough."

Remember a few years back we were going into a Filth game on the back of, what was it 13 or 14 straight losses, which would of been a record if we had lost to the Filth. All the Filth had to do is just turn up against us but we stuck it right up them, remember Eddies 'crying shame' in the stand.

You have to believe

By the way what is the problem with using CAPS (just asking)

The problem we have, as I see it, is over the last decade football has become increasingly game-plan driven, which in my view makes it harder to knock off a highly fancied opponent due to an increase that weekend in fierce competitiveness. Not saying it cannot be done, I mean Cats hammered Pies early in their win this year, but the fact of the matter is the Pies are so well drilled, they will make the most of any slip ups. The game is so scientific now, for use of a better word.

One thing we have going for us I suppose, is most (Carrazzo aside) of our quality mids/flankers are fit and will play. By this I refer to Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Scotland, Garlett, Betts, Robinson etc. Midfield is critical in modern footy and we have stock in this regard. So if the lads turn up to play, and are fiercely competitive, then we give oursleves some chance.

But geez, hard to see us not having some issues at either end with the bookmarks out. Our lack of quality depth in talls is our major weakness, along with inexperienced rucks. I will be there, but I won't be confident at all.

Does anyone know if we’ll be wearing our capslock strip?

A mate of mine (Essendon* supporter unfortunately) had the pleasure? of Alan Didak visiting their workplace a couple of weeks ago.

According to him, Didak doesnt rate us at all and cant believe that players like Carazzo are getting games. (He actually laughed when mentioning Carazzo's name).Whether he believes this or not its up to him, but to be sprouting it around an office surely is a sign of arrogance in that club.

If this is the kind of attitude the pies will take into the game, we can beat them if we play the relentless football we have shown this year.

Redskin get more information from your mate and send it to the club. Because if that doesn't @#$%&! get the boys blood boling, nothing will.

Its a shame that Didak wont be playing so one of the boys could run through him.

He will be in the stands though*

*not that I condone this sort of behaviour

Quote:
Netiquette Rules Summary

1.
ALL CAPS
The most important rule is never use all caps for your messages. IT MAKES IT LOOK LIKE YOU ARE SHOUTING. It is highly offensive and especially hard to read. Caps may be used sparingly to emphasize a word or phrase. Trust me, avoid using the caps lock key on your keyboard, or suffer the wrath of the annoyed recipient! You send me a message that is all in caps and it's going right into my trash without being read.

Quote:
3.
WATCH YOUR TONE
Please remember that you are sending a text-based communication to possible strangers. They may not know your sarcasm or witty sense of humor like your family and close friends do. For this reason, it is imperative to get into the habit of using some of the common shorthand features in your email, especially the public ones you may post to a newsgroup or forum (where hundreds, if not thousands of strangers will read your post). Just remember to act as if the reader on the other end doesn't know your personality, you have to give them hints as to your tone and emotion. See the emoticon and abbreviations lists at the end of this document.

Quote:
4.
SPELL CHECK
Nothing sends the wrong message like poor spelling.

Sorry ... I am a realist ... just too many key injuries. Our kicking into the forward line reminded me of the way we played 5 years ago. We will get a spanking on Saturday ... I can't bare to watch those smug Magpie players/supporters. Not only do we have major players out ... we are having a major form slump.

When we were playing well we had ...

Jamison,
Waite,
Curnow,
Carazzo,
Armfield,
Hampson

Currently I believe there are a number of players that just are not up to it including:

Bower ... third tall ... overrated ... makes too many mistakes.
Warnock ... just does not do enough.
Austin ... nope ... gone.
Joseph ... not in the best 25 ... second stringer.

I think Setanta would be a help but unfortunately has been injured. Not sure about Houlihan ... it may be over for him.
Henderson ... hmmm ... wish he would get back the form he had at the end of 2010 ... but I don't have high hopes.

This week we badly need some forward marking power ... I would be tempted to try a kid ... maybe Levi if he is fit.
I would also bring back Watson ...

Just try a few things ... run the ball into the forward line ... don't just bang it in hope. In fact all over the ground just run .. run ... run.

I wish every player was as desperate as Mitch Robinson ... then we would be worth watching ...

Sorry ... just feeling so negative about our chances.

One of our hard hitting journalists will ask the Filth why they haven't sent Dawes, Beams, Dick and Didak to Arizona to get their bodies right.
