I'd trade Warnock instead, but I'd want to acquire a third ruck for next season.

..don't see him leaving at all actually.. ..teams need 3 rucks, it's rare for a ruck to go all season, so nowadays there's opportunity, and in good form i'd have him before Knockers..

Warnock would be on more cash as we had to pay him more to get him across from Freo. I believe both Hampson and Warnock are out of contract at seasons end. They should both be on equal money. This is Hampsons big contract. He will negotiate hard.
I dont think getting opportunities will come into it. No ruckman plays 22 games so he will get plenty of games with the Blues.

I see Hampson as a long term key forward. Similar to Tippet at the crows. Maybe a superior Leigh Brown as an option.

Based on his last few weeks before getting hurt, there is no way I'd trade him. I'd trade Knockers first.

Our problem is three rucks of similar age. It makes things a bit awkward giving them all a good run.

Agree we need to recruit a project ruckman.

I think the Tigers would be much better off targetting Dawson Simpson at the Cats. 22 yrs old 206cm 105kgs only played a couple of games and with Trent West nathan Vardy and possible Ottens for another season or two he would be looking for opportunities.

No, they would be better off with Hampson because he has raw athletic ability. Dawson is way off.

WE would be better of keeping Hampson and still getting a project ruckman from the back end of woop woop. The recruiters need to look far and wide for a rough as guts diamond. He's big and he's out there.... somewhere.......

We need to keep Hampson, simple as that. A lot of people on here say they would rather him over Warnock, I still haven't made up my mind on who is better but if one goes down we need backup. Hammer will stay I reckon

Actually, they'd be better off targeting Brisbane, who have 3 players on the books who could play starting ruck at most clubs.

I agree.
The cats aren't fighting to keep Blake, so he will be the easiest option to poach.

Once Blake goes, they will want to keep Dawson if they can - realistically Ottens might be only one injury away from retirement.

Warnock vs Hampson
- don't forget that things can change! At the start of the year I think there was a general feeling that Hammer was still a long term project, and Robbie was the premier ruck for big games. All of a sudden Hammer has taken off! But when he comes back from his rehab, he might have gone backwards again.

It's rare to find players who don't experience patchy form - but with rucks there's less of them on the field to distract from their deficiencies, so fans tend to single them out quickly if they get beaten by their opponent or are down on form.

Let's keep them both.

Stephen Icke was on SEN this morning, he was asked about Hampson and said that the club was negotiating with his manager at present on the assumption he would be a Carlton player next year. He said that the club was acting in good faith and assumed his manager was too.

Isnt Icke easy to listen to.Always makes sense and seems very self assured. He gives you confidence.Trouble is we rarely hear him.Its always the would be if he could be defacto footy manager Swann doing all the talking. It infuriates me listening to Swann talking footy when we have such a highly capable guy like Icke who makes far more sense.CEO's meddling in the footy side of things is poison.Sort it out Sticks or we will go nowhere.

He's the CEO Mick, he's supposed to be involved in all facets of the business. You're thinking of the CFO.

You are right about Icke being easy to listen to, he speaks really well.
Other things he mentioned were;
Curnow in the mix this week
O'Hailpin will not play
Waite should miss 2-3 weeks
Jamo hopefully will be back round 20 against Melbourne, was even hopeful of the week earlier when we play North.
and of course about Hampsons contract being negotiated currently.

No hes not.............we have a football manager, coach, assistant coaches and a football sub commitee.Swann is directed by them, not the other way round. Its well known in footy circles that Swann has far more involvment in footy matters tha any other CEO in the AFL.....................Why ? what exactly does he bring to the table RE footy apart from his ego? its a hairbrained setup.Idiotic.Cross polination administrator, footy junky. Its a recipe for disaster.Mark my words.

From what I hear he's far better connected footy wise than you're giving him credit for.
