League recruiters and player agents have told The Age the Tigers are after a ruckman in the 22-24 year-old-age group who can also play as a forward, is of the right character and is not yet chasing major dollars.

The young age group, at this stage, is important as it endorses the long-term plan of coach Damien Hardwick and the club.

Hampson, 23, fits this category. He has played nine matches this season, the last in round 13 when he hurt his knee, and is locked in a battle with Warnock, just ahead in the pecking order, to partner the mobile Kreuzer. Hampson's management is understood to be willing to accept offers from rival clubs.

Bugger off tigers...

Wanted: good young ruckman, good character, can play forward and wont cost much.

That's really innovative, thinking outside the square stuff from Richmond.

Okay, so the Tigers drafting policy is to poach from Carlton? Do they think its the 1980's again and we are Collingwood. Not that Grigg turned out to be a major loss in hindsight. Maybe they should look at other options, like trying to pick a few up in the draft. Or looking at the state leagues.

Will be interesting if the Blues are as willing to do a deal with the Tigers again.

We would want Brad Miller thrown in there as well. He would have to bring Pia with him though.

1st round pick??
No way. They are desperate.

Hampson for Riewoldt or Martin PLUS Vickery.
Hammer gave glimpses in the last couple of weeks that he might actually develop into a gun.

Megan is working wonders for him!!!!

Damn, I was sitting next to the Hammer and his Mrs on the weekend. I should have asked him if he was Bitchmond bound.

He's not mates with Shaun Grigg is he?

I don't think he married Grigga in Vegas. I can't remember who Grigga married in Vegas. Houla is a friend of Grigga though.

I'd trade Warnock right now before Hammer.

..Hammer's not going anywhere, why knock back big $$$ and the chance for him and family to 'head back home' from the suns, to go to richmond of all places.. ..it's not like they'd be offering him a heap more dollars than we are.. ..only thing they could promise would be 1st ruck posi, but hell he could almost develop into that right here anyway..

We cant afford to lose another quality player. this time last year we had 4 ruckmen, if we lose Hampson after losing Jacobs then our depth is in trouble if we get an injury. I wish some clubs would develop their own and stop poaching our players. Makes me wonder sometimes if should have chased Warnock, Jacobs may have stayed.
It seems that we are doing too good a job in developing ruckmen, sakc Capuano.

As crazy as this sounds losing Hampson a few weeks back has unsettled us. He was in great form. If they want him we'll have Cotchin or Martin and their first round pick

If Hammer's out of contract at the end of this year, and according to 'Player Contract Status' he is, there is nothing stopping him just walking. It will all depend upon the approach he and his manager want to take.

Smells like Port Adelaide about 7 years ago - too many ruckmen so started offloading the likes of Brooks and Ackland when they had Primus and Brogan. We just have to make sure that we keep the two good 'uns. Does anyone miss Sauce? How is he travelling this year?

Tigers can have Warnokc for Rance/Post and a second round pick.

At least Rance isn't soft.
