It depends on the purpose of classifying players as talls.

This may sound silly, but in this discussion I reckon a tall is anyone who plays as a tall, but isn't mobile and can't run as a midfielder. So while Waite plays as a tall and is mobile, he's still a tall because he can't really run through the midfield. Walker can play through the midfield, so while he plays partly like a tall he's not a liability when it comes to running.

Its all about running, chasing and putting on pressure now. Anymore than 7 players who can't do that (talls) and you're side is out of balance. 2 ruckmen, 2-3 tall defenders and 1-2 forwards given that you're resting ruckman needs to play forward.

Ohalpin must be brought straight back into this team now that Waite is out. I would have the three of them (Warnock, Keruzer & Ohalpin) all rotating forward and through the ruck.

Play Thornton and Walker as the hit up leading forwards.

This leaves Bower & Henderson to try and contain Cloke down back with Duigan and Laidler the 3rd man up.

Amrfield and Curnow must also come back into this side to add grunt and run.

I don't mind what you're saying Hotcox, but that means you have to play 2 of O'hAilpin, Kreuzer and Warnock forward, along with Thornton. Its too many talls. Our problem on Sunday was a lack of pressure and the ball coming out too easily. It'll fly out of the Pies defence if we structure up like that.

Fevola has a groin and Kouta ate a dodgy souvlaki, but both should be right to go.

On current form I would have Thornton up forward, TBB. We probably need Setanta as well but I'm dubious about how fit he is. Ants a bye this week which is not helping players needing a run.

Hope they don't muck up bringing Jammo back!

If we could actually bring back Setanta, I would drop Warnock because he has been lacklustre despite racking up the hitouts.

As for the people who are saying Collingwood use 2 talls at either end, 1 ruck and Leigh Brown, you're about 60% right; they use 2 talls up forward, 2-3 down back, a swingman, 1 ruck and Leigh Brown.

They show what you can do when you have the right set up around talls who can deliver the ball, run the ball or bring others into the game with the ball (marks, taps, handballs, etc).

How long since Setanta has played anywhere, 4 weeks? And people expect him to have an impact against the competition benchmark?

All that will happen is he will be crucified by everyone after a shocker, just like Hendo was after the Essendon* game.

When Big Irish came into the seniors the first time this year (the Swans game?) he hadn't had much of a run and did OK. Granted, it was a wet night at the SCG.
But he's had a hand injury so would have been able to keep up the fitness.

I honestly think we miss his bash and crash when he's not in the side. He works well with the little blokes.

has watson done anything of note in the ressies forward line.

perhaps he can play out of the square and walker can be a mobile chf with kreuzer floating down there as well?

hendo has gone ok in the backline & i dont think its a bad thing that he gets first crack at cloke. gives him more exposure on the best forwards and builds REAL depth for the coming years.

Fair call but we need someone in the forward line to take a contested grab and at least hold one of there tall backman accountable. Memories of 2010 (2nd game) and 09 (2nd game) are flooding back to me.

Forward setup

Betts Keruzer Thornton
Garlett Walker Houlihan

Harry Obrien has taken Betts to the cleaners over the past 2 years and Walker has been ordinary against the filth as well.

Ratten just said on the couch that Carlos wont play.

Got the feeling listening to Ratts OTC that our forward line is in for a re-jigging. Could Kerr be about to debut ?

In his interview on OTC, Ratts ruled Setants out for this week also...
We're in very very deep kakka this week...

Henderson must go forward this week. Kruezer must support him with Walker, Gartlett, Betts and Robinson. Hendo is the man and we must give him the confidence and support now. Believe in the kid!

Thornton & Bower to play back. Bower to take Cloke this week with Laidler, Duigen, Russell & Yarren the support team. It's not a bad 6 with our main man missing ofcourse but T-Bird it's time for you mate. Show us how much you want it.

Our midfield can match Collingwood's. We need Curnow. I know his not in good form but we need him with McLean now not being available. Curnow is the key to our midfield and has been missed over the last few weeks.

That's my 2 cents. I'll sit back and watch how this unfolds with everything crossed and praying we find our mojo this week.

If you look at the first 40 minutes we had an open forward 50 we managed to milk two 50 metre penalties because the dogs were trying to slow us down running back
When waite went down the dogs also pushed numbers back
We manned up the lose man thus clogging up our forward 50
You heard both murph and ratts saying they ran the ball out to easily thats because when we manned up the lose player we created space forward of the ball for the dogs run inyo and they ran out in waves

What needs to happen is if they put one back you pull another one out and put numbers around the ball then you run forward in waves into an open 50

Our losses coincide with congested forward lines and then we either bomb it to the square or try get to cute with the passes Teams seem to be able to do it to us at Etihad
