We might scrap into 8th spot and get belted in the first week of the finals.

HeadCox would have been an apt log in.

We have injuries to key players in Waite and Jamison. On tonight's form we cant be confident in any of those games. At our best we could win them all but the season is now taking a toll on us.

After watching the Weagles hang on against Geelong last night I had a look at the remaining games for us, Weagles and Hawks. I kept coming back to the fact that I couldn't see us making the top four. And after today....

Hawks could easily win five or more of their remaining seven games, potentially toughest matches are against us and Doggies (after today I don't know I'd still call the match against us potentially tough). Weagles have eight games to go, should win at least six, could win all eight on present form. Only danger games appear to be against Sainters and Dawgs.

Carlton? We'll do well to win five of our last seven matches. It's not the despair, it's the hope that kills me.

Can someone tell me why our forwards keep leading to the boundary? Is it instructions? Is it desperation?

Maybe KB was onto something last week?

Tonight's performance and our draw when compared to Hawthorn and West Coast's definitely makes top 4 look out of the question.

I thought we were a 5-6 team at the start of the year and that looks like where we'll end up. I thought last year we were a 7-9 team and that's where we finished up. However we went backwards last year after losing Kreuze and I am hoping like hell this year isn't the same after losing Jamo.

Still a long way to go though, and anything can happen.

Meanwhile last years wooden spooners will probably finish in the top 4..... Anything less than top 4 is a failure this year considering the form of Aints and Dogs.

After the West Coast and Doggies games, hard to feel optimistic about the rest of the year.

Play like we did today, and we'll struggle to win another game.

Sad that this long into the season, we don't seriously know if we've improved all that much.

I thought 5-6 and top 4 if things went our way, which at the moment isn't happening.

Who knows if we win next week the whole tone of this would be could we snatch a flag!

By default. we are yet to have our 2nd bye. Dogs and Aints started year with some unexpected losses. they will be dangerous if they finish in the 8.

Meanwhile we could still end up with an interstate elimination final....

You do realise we’ve been seriously exposed twice in 3 weeks?

Yep - http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_l ... st=SE&sb=t

To get back on track we MUST beat the Pies this week.

We can still do it - but we'll have to beat Freo, which is not beyond us, and the Hawks.

If we can do that and the WC have a slump for a few weeks, which is more likely than not, and we'll squeak in to 4th. One thing we don't want is to finish 5th and manage a home final against Essendon* or Sydney. If we were to win that elimination final, we'd most likely come up against the toasters in WA.

The great unknown is how many of the games against Melbourne, Kangas and Essendon* we'll lose. None of these are guaranteed based on yesterday's game. In fact, I hope we can manage 2/3.

Connolly thinks we're good for 3rd....then goes on to say how good a run home the Hawks & Eagles have :screwy:

Carlton's latest stumble adds another dimension still, but you'd still have your money on Carlton finishing third. The Blues have a tough couple of weeks coming up against the Pies and Bombers but an easier run after that.

I read that and thought the same. Odd. He's assuming that we don't lose any more games than Hawks or WC do which is hard to see when you compare the draws.
