Totally agree Warbs. The site has gone to pot.

There some serious shit going on in the post Carlton vs Richmond thread between SOC and bondi.

People need to chill FFS.

It's always been like this, it's just that with the team doing well there's nothing else to do but for everyone to take out their daily frustrations on each other rather than the players and/or coach.

Hi all, you know me in another guise (try Tony Moclair's brother.....)

Maybe what Keogh was getting at about McCartney and by extension, Lennon, is that all the thread "needs is Love......."

(Apologies to Tommi and BG72! :yikes: )

Wonder is Sheahan will ask him about the massive rumour doing the rounds that Malthouse has signed a in principle agreement to coach Carlton next year.

Traditionally we re-sign the coach on the back of a decent first half of the season, so that the coach can focus completely on dropping three quarters of the remaining matches to leave us all wondering why he has a shiney new two year contract.

Since we didn't re-sign Ratts two weeks ago, perhaps we really are persisting with this new fangled "set a KPI, complete season, compare ledger to KPI" approach. Seem crazy to me, but lets just see how it plays out.

Oh dear.

Ratten will be sacked once our season is finished and Malthouse will replace him.

His latest word was that he'd been misquoted, and that Ratts might not get fired if he doesn't win a final.

So if we finish 6th, go out in straight sets, it's conceivable Swann will renew him, and this thread will go into meltdown.

Personally I know nothing about coaching and wish Ratts all the best.
But I think Swann is tying himself in knots a little bit. Might get awkward if the finals win doesn't come.

We've made plenty of shortsighted, foolish decisions over the years but that one would take the cake.
I've not been a huge supporter of Ratten as senior coach but the panel we have at the moment is coming along OK. Id sign him at years end for 1 or 2 years.
If it doesnt work out next year, it's not a big payout.

I'll show little interest next year if they sign Malthouse. Collingwood are moving him on for a reason. He is the figurehead of the coaching panel but he doesnt drive the style of footy they play.

I smarter man wouldn't have commented mid-season.

Ratten is decent, honest and very good - but events conspire against him.

So the new young coach is the one that brings us the 17th.

He will appear to most as a rather uninspired choice.

But he will have special qualities that are at first, only known to a few.
