GO BLUEBAGGERS.

That is about the only thing we can agree on.
I'm here to represent past players of the club and
you obviously are not.Your vitriol towards someone who does not deserve it
will be remembered.
Go Blues and lets get number 17 without being
neanderthals.
I think Spirit the difference is, your players are like alumni - everyone who has donned the Old Dark Navy, forevermore, is a past player and should be respected as such
Bondi just hates anyone who left the Old Dark Navy of their own free will
On matchday I'm with Bondi
afterwards, I'm with you
mostly....
OMG. Is this guy for real?
I missed this little gem of a post from that poster hiding behind his pseudonym 'Spirit of Carlton'. I always knew Spirit of Carlton as an organisation adding value to the club, not a politcal poster with an agenda.
You are right dannyboy. It's a game day thingy, this booing, hissing and stirring of an ex player...Grigg. A bit of fun, footy fun...and a way we Bluebaggers get ours back for the bitter disappointment of losing a player for nothing; and take a piece of our heart with them.
We don't boo Josh Kennedy. Do we? I wonder why? I wonder what the difference is?
WE all do it. It's a bit of fun, and its a bit of stress release...but bottom line it's human nature to be disappointed and reacting to that disappointment.
Have a read at every Carlton forum (ALL of them) and even at the G on Saturday. Grigg was booed and belittled by Carlton supporters: most of them. Why does that poster whose hiding behind the name (and shield of) SOC not respond to every 'normal' supporter who boos an ex player like Grigg? (you know the ones he refers to as 'Neanthdethals, who pay their memberships year upon year and have put more into Carlton FC than Grigg will ever do).
What a disgrace that he uses the name SOC for his own political agenda, personal attacks and bullying. Real upright man. Hey? His vitriol is misguided , misplaced, pretentious and he thinks he can get away with these personal attacks by hiding behind such a respected name.
His use of the name Spirit of Carlton for his own political agenda is what I would call abuse of privelege. I know who he is and I respect the good things he's done and doing for the club. But to play out his schoolyard bullying under the pretence of SOC is a misuse of privelege and he knows it. Someone needs to pull him up on this before he really gets carried away.
Did he understand, or even partake in the booing of Hamill at Princess Park when he donned the St Kilda jumper against Carlton? Was every person who booed that day Neanderthal? It's part of footy. Everyone was part of it because it is normal not Neandethal.
Right now I'm on the road and missing my kids, so I wont let fly on the comments and threats highlighted in yellow, but I will respond to those threats in good time, when I'm back at the club.
I know he knows I was going to advertise on the SOC Directory and haven't just yet. I am also prepared to join good supporters Psych and others and sponsor the good work SOC does for the club and past players...and I will. Not for any privelege...just to help as I usually do with anything Carlton. But I will not stand for threats and abuse and abuse of the Carlton name for ones own poiltical gain. We had a President who did that, and despite the fact I still like him as a Carltonian, I do not condone his misuse of power and privelege at the expense of MY club. I share a similar admiration for this guy calling himself the Spirit of Carlton.
Now lets not get caught up with this poster's play on our emotions when he refers to helping past players. There are loyal players who served us in the past, even multiple premiership players who have fallen on tough times (I will not name) who need our club's and SOC's help (I'm talking the group SOC not the poster hiding behind the name) because they did not plan for life after footy, or through bad luck fell on hard times; I and all of us appreciatethe offer of help to loyal ex Carltonians. Well those suffering players didn't get paid the 100's of 1000's of $$$ players like Grigg and Hamill have received from their decision to move to other clubs for the allmighty dollar, and I'll give you the tip, the Grigg's of this world will not need the support of SOC, in fact I will be surprised if they have a Carlton bone in their body, like our loyal servants from the past.
Lets not cross wires here. The SOC was initially created to put some of the Carlton Spirit back into our club which had lost its spirit after the severe AFL's penalties and the club's demise. Blokes like Grigg did nothing to help our club in the past or in the present. It is us, the supporters, and loyal past players who dug deep for many years to get the club off its kness, and to get the club back up where it belongs, not to be bullied and pushed away, threatened and abused by bullies like this poster who likes to disguise himself under the pseudonym of Spirit of Carlton. This is not me being disrefectful of the wonderful organisation that the Spirit of Carlton is, (and I will back that up with donations and sponsorship of the organisation when I get back home), but my disgust with this poster for not letting us supporters be normal supporters without being called Neandethals or disloyal and threatened by his abuse and 'long' memory. He sounds like someone from the mafia with those sort of threats.
I think it is our duty as supporters to do what we can to deter all Carlton players from wanting to leave our club, moreso with free agency around the corner. Booing ex players is a special privelege every supporter can use when they have to. Don't let this imposter of a poster scare you supporting the way you like just because he gives a bit of his spare time to the club and hides behind the name imo unethically.
Let the Spirit of Carlton be a respected organisation I say, but if this poster (calling himself SOC) wants to be political and abusive then he should use his own name not that of a respected organisation.
It is my duty and my thrill to support Carlton as best as I can for the betterment of the Carlton Football Club. I don't believe cheering ex Carlton players who left our club after a handful of games and no Carlton flags to their name and no appreciation of the club, let alone loyalty. These turncoats are the types who lead, yes lead the way for others to the road of other clubs. Leave my club with no Carlton legacy I can be proud to tell my kids about, well, I am not going to show you appreciation for your decison to walk out on my club.
