This year was the first time I hadnt signed up to be a member in years as I knew son and I couldnt get to any of the games due to his sporting commitments.

Decided to get the 3 game membership anyway two weeks ago just to give a bit of support to the club - interesting that it still hasnt been sent to my house. Luckily I dont care but would have been pissed off if intended to use it!

Surely cant be that hard to mail a membership card

Thats in stark contrast to what just happened to me, I went in to upgrade my membership on Monday and I received it the next day in the mail via express post.

I would give the club a call just to follow-up on its progress???

I signed up a friend on a 3 game membership last week as a birthday present. It arrived yesterday.

Today is cut off day for membership totals.

I do hope we can crack 45,000.

Kerna did say the numbers are a bit disappointing and needs addressing.
Plenty of room for improvement if Jeannie is involved.

I was at the club yesterday morning and noticed a sign on the front window showing membership at 43,771.

That would be the final total I suspect.

I reckon next season our target should be 50K.

It sounds high, but in reality it should be easy. Our marketing department needs a good hard kick up the bum though.

If we make it deep into Sept/early October you would expect more than 50k....very disappointing that many still haven't signed up this season especially existing members....

Agree if we get to the Prelim and at least give a good account for ourselves, and continue the momentum into early 2012, we should easily crack 50k next year.

I noticed that too. But it was the cheer squad who put the numbers on it so who knows.

We'd easily be ahead of Collingwood if our medical team was responsible for counting our memberships.

Or we could get by on preferences like the Greens to hold the balance of our power.

I got clarification from Essendon* today regarding this, as they had thrown some marketing expenditure behind reaching 50k members. In fairness to them, the AFL only count the membership categories that have access to games. The Bombers include their 'Beyond the Boundary' membership package in their tally, even though this type of membership doesn't provide the holder with access to Essendon* games.

What it does provide is full voting rights. It costs $137 or $273 for a family, so AFAIK they are more than entitled to include that membership in their total figures.

Essendon* do not include Pet Memberships (cost - $32) in their tally...something I'd be very wary of Hawthorn doing having been guilty of that in the past. FWIW, St. Kilda charge $35 for pet membership and North, Richmond, Collingwood and WB charge $30. Carlton do not offer pet memberships.

If those are the "real" membership figures then we've not done so bad after-all in comparison to the others. In which case, I was wrong.

So Richmond fudged their numbers yet again. They have been bragging about almost reaching 50,000 and having more members than us.

Access v non-access members

Only Carlton, Melbourne and St Kilda do not sell non-access memberships.
