Tiges have won just 2 games in 7 weeks (6 games)- one against Bris the other Essendon*

they have lost to WB, MELB, Port and Syd

It is hardly a good form guide

We should smash them

Seriously if the Blues don't win, put down the glasses as nothing will happen come seasons end re finals....

We'll smash 'em by at least 9 goals.

I still think we lack some grunt in the middle without Curnow or McLean.
Not really happy with the White selection either but I'm going to trust the selectors, lets see.

I have defended Austin a couple of times this week particularly from Hotcox's raves. Why is he a scapegoat for the loss last week in his first game back after 2 years out when the mid field was decimated making the backs job impossible. Stop playing favourites and drop Ellard who had less than 10 possessions for the second week running. Don't say he was concussed, if he was he should not have played.

With Austin out we again have a short side. I don't regard White at 190cm as a tall even if he plays key position, so we lose two talls from last week in Jamison and Austin and gain one in Waite. Interesting.

The talk about Bower being better than Jamison? Hello ,,,,,,, Jamo was a lock for All Australian until his injuries and may still get the gig. When was Bower ever talked of as a certain AA? Jamo is Mr. Reliable (always). Bower is Mr. Confused (sometimes) .

Hotcox's argument on Jamo v Bower had a higher shit content than his usual ones

Ellard isn't doing anything for me at the moment either except his kicking of goal accuracy. McLean has to come in to see if he could string together some form that we know he is capable of.

Jamison is much better than Bower, but one thing I loved about Bowers game when he is up and firing is his dash & run off half back when he arches his back and takes on the opposition. The only problem is we haven't seen that from him in a long while

..lookit, i personally have nothing against Austin and i haven't formed much of an opinion of him beyond 'young tall still developing'.. ..i think that he was picked last week out of desperation.. ..i think with Waite and White coming in, Waite fwd may very well push Hendo back and with Hendo/White playing kpp it allows Thornton to play that 3rd tall role he does so well which will help settle the back six.. ..i didn't think Austin was ready, he didn't look ready with that arm guard and i believe he's out simply because the better players [currently] are now available once again.. ..much like Hendo was rushed in vs the bombres, or how Collins looked out of depth early on [ditto Watson].. ..players picked when not ready [for whatever reasons] should and do get replaced when the better options are there.. ..and i think that this is all it is..

Agree with BKB, Austin has been playing CHF in the Ants and was given a massive job to do in the backline against West Toast. I was surprised he was selected, he didn't seem to be quite ready for elevation. He has learned a few things and will have a few aspects to work on with the coaches.

Bower is certaintly in our best 22 when fit, no doubt. Hotcox might even be right that he might have more upside, but he is not in the Jamison class right now. Jamo is one of our most important players currently, including one of our leaders.

I have more upside than Jamison because I haven't played since yr 10. I'm reasonably athletic, could go from 0/10 to 3/10 like THAT. I can comfortably say that neither I nor Paul Bower will be the best (or equal to the) tall defender in the AFL as is Michael Jamison. Hotcox is TalkingCrap

Mark Austin has more upside than Matthew Scarlett!!!!!!!!!

I have got a feeling they picked White over Austin because he can pinch hit forward if Henderson goes back on Vickery. White's best footy for us last year was forward. He is a better forward than Austin.

I am seriously not having a go. I can remember him going into the forward line but struggle to remember him doing well.

Which games are you talking about? Happy to hear the discussion.

I had the worst dream last night that I was getting ready to go to the game, fell asleep, missed the game and checked the scores on my phone to find out we'd lost by a goal and Jeff Garlett got reported and got 6 weeks suspension for getting in a fight

The reason Bower is not in the Carlton Side was when he last played in the seniors the coaches believe he didn't work hard enough
and didn't put in as they would have hoped.
So until he shows this in training and the VFL he will not be getting a game in the seniors

This is coming from a person who has the type of membership that he sits in the coaches box a couple times a year

I'm no Austin-hater, and would love it if he could one day prove to us he'll be a solid senior player (looking pretty unlikely), but I don't think there's a guy on our list who's more protected by the good folks of TC. People go into meltdown that he got dropped while at the same time someone like Hendo's worth continues to be questioned. Bizarre.

We can't argue with facts. Austin's been on the list a fair while, and hasn't shown any signs that he can make it (of course injuries have played a massive part in this too, no denying it) besides being a pretty solid player at VFL level and having the right physical attributes to be the type of player we need. But so were Hartlett and Edwards before him, and like these guys a day will come when potential just won't cut it anymore. At this stage in his journey he needs to prove himself, not be coddled into it. If this doesn't happen, I suspect he'll be delisted by the end of the year (but possibly rookie'd). His 9 lives are almost up.

Bower ahead of Jammo, gimme a break!!!

Jammo has been our best defender since the great SOS, finally we have a KPB that can go with the gorillas & beat them!!!

I'll go as far to say that Jammo is our MOST important player, without him we have NO Hope doing anything in September, can u just picture Cloke rag dolling, Bower, Thornton & White.

To win premierships u need gun defenders.....look at our premiership history folks, it all starts on the last line & Jammo is our 2011 SOS.
