The fact that we have lost to all the teams around us on the ladder has something to do with it... Plus the fact that all the Carlton haters have had nothing to crap on about for most of the year has somethingto do with why they ve gone so hard at us this week... Get with the times...Dont you know only the courageous Essendon* has the right to have their losses excused by their injuries...

In some ways they are right, until we prove differently.

We are not strong in our back line and now without Jammo, we have no-one to handle the big athletic forwards.

We need to prove them wrong and this week is gonna be huge.

Riewoldt killed us the last time, everytime the ball went in there he marked it. We cant rely on Thornton to take a big scalp like that unfortunately, so the battle needs to be won in the middle.

That line should be in the Herald Sun translater.

We have Laidler, Duigan and Jamison missing from our backline; that's half of our backline.

I'd say "we are weaker in the backline whilst half are out injured".

Last week in the backline:

We had O'Keefe in for his first ever game.
We had Austin in for his first game in 2 years.
Tuohy in for his 3rd game.
TBird playing as our No 1 KP when we all know he's a 3rd tall type.
The Gibbs-Kennedy match up wan't ideal either with a 7cm difference in height.

That's what injury does to any team.

Now have a look at the scores kicked against our backline this year; not bad at all.
That doesn't show aup the backline as our weakness. Other teams envy our efforts thus far.

I agree that TBird got killed by Reiwoldt in the first round, but it was our shocking kicking for goal which flattered the Tiggers.

WE will prove them wrong this weekend. We are also getting a few bof our injured back Waite and Robbo for sure.

I thought Riewoldt was lucky in round 1 and a couple fell in his arms..... wasn't his opponents fault, more so the third man up did a bad job...(Duigan, Laidler playing their first game and being a touch nervous)

This richmond game is a non-event really, I was always worried about West Coast (and I'll admit it, sydney as well!) manly because of their height and as we got closer also our outs'.

But Richmond, nah nothing to worry about there... Yes they have a strong midfield, but I believe ours is stronger and Jumping Jack has been out of form and coming off a loss the boys will bring them down with our press...

For those with a bad memory it was actually white who spent most of his time on jack last time. He did poorly, but we had a backline of white in his 6th game, badly out of form Thornton, 1st gamer duigan, 3rd gamer laidler, yarran in his first game in the back line and Russell so expecting them to kill it would be silly.

Waite and robbo will help greatly. A Thornton Austin tall backline worrys me.. Hope bower comes up.

The battle is won and lost in the middle every week. You can have a backline of absolute scrubs, if they're protected by pressure up the field they'll come out ok.

Let's face it, the Australian press and media love to build a tall poppy up so they can cut it down again as soon as it stumbles. Gives them something to write/talk about when things are good and bad.

Especially the football media. It's what keeps the industry alive and justifies the over exposure by providing an ongoing topic.

Essendon*'s turn was first, then ours. WC and Hawks are next when one of them drops a game

Scum = Essendon*
Filth = Collingwood

Prefer it if we can go back to flying under the radar to be honest. Wet Toast can carry our "Premiership threat" burden whilst we get on with the job of preparing for the finals.

Still cut up from the day Setants sold Lloyd some candy in front of 70,000 in the 48 point comeback special...
By the way, hows their Irish guy Quinn going ? Havent seen him around from a while...
Very well educated on matters football are these morons...

Love the arse clown who had a go at our club song claiming its the worst in the league - from the team whose song was used for a dated (even then) Channel 7 variety show of the 1950's and 1960's "Sunnyside Up" - :roll:

I'm actually pretty fed up with the "Comments" in the Herald-Sun Sports section - they allow any Carlton hating bile dripping moron to post their Carlton hating crap :mad: - but never seem to allow us equal time to repay the compliment. :wink:
