Can someone in the know explain how he tore something in his knee yet was sent back on the field?

When you 'tear' a miniscus, even ever so slightly - you don't know you've down anything serious except perhaps feel like you've twinged something. After a few minutes, that pain goes away. I'd suggest there are hundreds of amateur athletes who have torn a miniscus and never had the scans to prove it...just some swelling. It does heal itself.

I tore my Meniscus last year, simply doing hill sprints (I'm 47 so maybe age related too). Had and arthroscope, and it went very well, with only 7% of cartillage removed. It took me about 8 weeks to get back to running, but I didn't do anywhere near as much re-hab as I should've. Swelling is an issue, as the longer it remains swollen, the more the supportive muscles around the knee waste away and need to be built up.

If all goes well, I reckon Jamo will be back in about 6.

I think alot of the repair time and swelling issues are based somewhat on how rough the surgeon is with the knee joint while perform the arthroscope. If you have ever watched one of the Medical shows those Doctors can be brutal the way they wrench and bend the joints. Obviously the less intrusive trauma to the knee joint the quicker the knee should get back to normal. I'm sure the Blues Surgeon will be gentle  and with all the rehab available 24/7 at the new CFC facilities Jamo will be up an at'em in know time.

Fingers crossed.

Regards Cazzesman

Hopefully his full pre-season stands him in good stead - we can ill afford to lose him.

I hope our Match Committee picks a team that can cover his loss and exploit the Tigers this week.

Hope our injured players are dosing up on Vegemite this week.

I wouldn't be shocked if he was back after missing 3 weeks.

ran into an old timer this morning who hangs around the club a bit not sure how credible he is because i know him as a bloke who just hangs around the joint, retired nothing better to do etc and he reckons its on the mild side and 3 weeks is realistic...not sure if true but take it as some scuttlebutt hope its true!!

Might well have been John...Jamo's player sponsor. Normally on the ball.

In my line of work I have dealt with people who have had similar injuries. Everyone is different and no injury is exactly the same but I have seen athletes come back after a few weeks from something that sounds similar. That doesn't mean it will happen but it's not unheard of.

Not good at all.

Goes without saying that we need Jamo fit and firing to have a real crack in Sept.

Everyone called it, seriously the club needs to come out and give it straight from the get go. Frustrating how their continuously doing this. Either they're liars to their supporters or some medico needs the sack asap for misdiagnosing continuously.

Cannot give details yet but Jamo will be given every chance to get back earlier as a result of some recovery equipment purchased by the Spirit of Carlton at the clubs request.

We are all in the big blue endeavour together. If the club has the knowledge and we can help out towards number 17 we are all there together for the players and the club.
