I used to love getting the Melbourne Times and reading "Wacker of the Wing"

There were also the Collingwood and Fitzroy versions "RoyBoy" and "Fantasy 58" - they wernt bad reads either, but no where as good as Wacker

Probably a typo....but it was ''Wacker on the wing''....and his favourite player was Greg Kennedy....''Greggy boy you bottler''..........

Take em to dick's grave, it worked in We Are Marshall. Maybe show em a lowlights package from the Pagan years first.

Just don't waste it on the Cats in the prelim. Save it for the big dance.

Would it be inappropriate to suggest the place that a terrible car accident occurred?

The Stork Hotel in Elizabeth street opposite the market; where Vasil Varlamos could sometimes be found having a beer with mates in the Car Trade.

That was on the 3 pubs my old man use to drink at after work, he used to alternate between that, the Central on Victoria st and Mac's around in Franklin St. Good memories as a kid of the Stork as they had grouse toasted cheese sangers.

I used to sell papers around that area after school and I still remember reading the colour liftout from the 1979 Grand Final in front of the TAA building in Franlikn St. I was supposed to be selling The Herald but was too busy reading about the game.

Ah the memories............

Brent Crosswell
David Glascott
Fraser Brown
Col Kinnear
John Scholes

Olivis Newton-John

I wish we'd kept the specially constructed area for Sir Robert Menzies' limo to watch games from, and put it out the front of Visy Park.

That the most influential man in the country (perhaps even to this day) would spend his weekends watching the Baggers speaks volumes about the prestige of our club.

They boxed in that area in the early 80's when they built an extension to the Harris stand. They closed off the old gap that was between the Heatley and the HArris stand. It was that glass enclosed corporate area just behind the points.

It wasn't a too bad a perk for the man - just showed in how high regard the club held Sir Robert in. After all he was the man who got Jezza to the Blues after he signed with the Roos.

Good to see the current players getting on the "visit the past" bandwagon with a nice little return to the premiership quarter on Sunday afternoon.

Also at the end of that street is Argyle Square - that is where Mil Hanna was going shave Lou Richards head after he lost a bet. But when Lou took off his hat he was wearing a scalp headwear, so they put shaving cream on that and shaved that - weak as pee Lou-Lou

Menzies was very influential with the Premier of Victoria at the time fellow Liberal Henry Bolte.

Managed to influence Henry who managed to influence the Chief Secretary Arthur Rylah, who managed to influence the Attorney-General, who managed to influence the Governor of Pentridge who managed to ........
