Greg Swan repeated on 3AW today that this meme, constantly repeated by footy commentators on 3AW and Ch7, is not correct. You're engaging in the emotional sensationalism you were projecting onto big Kruze (who dwarfs you in intelligence obviously).

1AW asked to look around at end of season (I think he was frustrated at not being considered played as a forward every week). Adelaide offered to take him from us but in the end he wasn't interested. Carlton always said he was a required player at the time and didn't want to let him go, good judgement eh.

Big K wont run out of clubs trying to pouch him for the rest of his career if he stays fit and injury free, (touch wood and all that…) so he can take his time on offers. I just hope he stays and enjoys becoming a one club legend at CFC. Such a talented and determined a player.

Absolutely no need to personally attack Syd in the manner you have diesel. He has every right to voice his feelings on the subject and while I disagree with him quite a bit on a number of subjects I enjoy his honest and somewhat confronting contributions.

I happen to think Kreuz is the type of guy who basically loves being with his family and enjoys the simple quiet life. He'll be handsomely rewarded by Carlton and probably will be more than content to continue on his carpentry after his footy days which hopefully will bag him a premiership or 2.

There is no argument to mount.
You are not listening to reason.

But..but..but, he should move every time he's offered more money. He could get hit by a meteor tomorrow and it be all over...

so what you are saying that no other club treats their players like Carlton does - No other club would have looked after Kruez the way they did - No other clubs have quality players -no other clubs experience 10 or so years of susatained success - History shows that new franchises rise pretty quickly and it is not long before they are holding up the cup - See it is all emotive rubbish and the AFL thrives on it and so do the clubs -

Take a couple of players who recently bleed blue they loved the place wanted nothing more that to be at Carlton - Lance and Fev - both had their issues granted and both didn't really help themselves by the way they went about it - But both would have had offers from clubs during their time at Carlton both elected to do the team thing and stay - but the moment things turned the slightest bit pear shaped they were shown the door -

Now no question football is an emotive game I sat in my lounge room and felt my eyes well up during that third quarter on sunday - It was probably the most enjoyable football experience I have watched in a long time seeing Kruez and Murph put on a display like they did was a pleasure to watch but thats not to say I didnt experience the same feeling when Fev was booting bags of 8 against the pies and bombers or when Lance booted that goal from outside 50 in 99 - but to the average punter football is an outlet for these players it is career and at this point in time with the GC and GWS there is an unique opportunity for these guys to significantly improve not only their football income but their status as players

You're kidding. Up to now, I thought that in some misguided way, you really believed you had some good points or something, but now you're just grasping at straws. THE MOMENT THINGS TURNED THE SLIGHTEST BIT PEAR SHAPED??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

That moment was in around 2001 for Fev. The moment???????? Are you for REAL?????? The flower moment??????? At the end of 2009, things weren't the SLIGHTEST BIT pear shaped. They were a flower orchard!!!! What are you talking about?? Is there a different Fev that I don't know about?

And as for Lance, we shoul've shipped him off the moment HE turned the slightest bit pear shaped. That's not the shape for an AFL footballer.

Sheesh..... My cup runneth over!

It's reasonable to compare the K man to Scully and in that sense, Melbourne to Carlton.

Kreuzer has been guy loved by the entire Carlton community since he was drafter. There's no boos for Krooz because he's an amazing guy, an amazing footballer and an amazing part of an important part of Carlton's list, and is made to feel that way.

Focus on Scully, and when I hear Melbourne supporters both in real life and on radio, they don't enthuse the same amount of love for their player as what Carlton does for Matthew.

I think in the end, this is where the difference lies, and look at the rest of the list - Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Krooz, Jamo, Garlett, Betts... these guys love the Navy Blue (or at least appear to).

Remember when Russell wanted out back home? I bet he's glad he stuck with the club. I'm betting Walker is feeling the same, too.

No it doesn't. Did you read my post. Your point about clubs dropping players like hot cakes is NOT VALID. Carlton, for example, held on to Fev for 8 years AFTER it started going pear-shaped. Same with Lance. Same with Stevo. Everyone tries to make it work within the confines of a modern business.

Do I begrudge players for seeking more money elsewhere? Definitely not! And I'm one of those that didn't boo Hammil, and didn't boo Campo or Murphy or Allan. It's their prerogative.

But to berate them for NOT taking the money and running????? That's weird-ass shit IMO. Alloow them to do it, but acknowlege them when they don't. Besides, 22 year-olds making $300K and $400K p.a. is pretty good going anyway. And if they have a semblance of smarts, they get themselves educated or trained or set up in business anyway.

Relax!! They do ok. Even the duds or those that only have your average 50 game career. Check out Ian Prendergast and Rod Galt and Ricky Nixon and David Johnson and if I researched it, I could name you 50 more.

Sydney, I'm not having a go at you, but have you played in a team before?

These are young blokes, they form close emotional bonds through shared experience. Some of them put a higher premium on that than others. Maybe when players say they are playing for premierships some of them mean exactly that.

And it's not as if he won't be looked after playing at Carlton. He could very well have decided that missing out on $1m over three years (less tax) isn't worth the chance to win a couple of flags with a group of mates he's developed with over the last couple of years.

Your argument seems to be about the advice given to him. Who's to say what his manager has or hasn't told him, or that perhaps Matthew thanked him for his advice but told him he wanted to stay in Melbourne.
