CONS

Banner - Cheer squad hang your head in shame. I copied down the verse for posterity - 'Smash these Bloods / Come on Blues / They don't care/ They got rid of Roos'. Our poet laureate should be banned from any more attempts at verse after that. Maybe just put Go Blues on the banner.

Yet from the AFL website:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/116584/default.aspx

Quote:
Banner of the round
There was much talk in the press box before the game about whether banners should be banned. But the doubters were silenced by these four lines of gold from the Blues' cheer squad:
Smash these Bloods
Come on Blues
They don't care
They got rid of Roos

just a question - have we put the rich v yarran argument to rest? I know who i would want....and we have him!

Hendo - whats wrong with some supporters? We are meant to support, not the opposite! Seems some are half blinde, he had 3+ players on him at one point. One thing does annoy me about hendo, he aint selfish. i dont like these handballs when he marks the ball.

We've won 4 in a row for only the second time in the last 10 years!

We havent won 5 in a row since Round 18, 2000, which incidentally was the last game in a 13 game winning streak.

Yeah I laughed when I read it

I guess they couldnt really use Your Goodes is Good but our Betts is Better again

What's wrong with
"Carlton and Hyundai/Optus/Mars/other major sponsor - a great team"

??

PRO:

Winning so easily after a slow start. The defensive efforts seemed to be really intense.

We'll get to read more than a single para about it in the Sydney papers tomorrow. Last week's match got 2 sentences.

Murphy. Really blossoming under Judd. Becoming Judd-esque.

Great team effort, so a big wrap for the other 21 too.

CON:

Robbo's hair colour. WTF?

I'm only going to mention this briefly, and it's only reluctantly, butthe lack of intensity in the last. I get easing off when the match is won, and it was well and truly won in the 3rd, but I'd prefer to see more made of the match as a whole and a real message of intent sent to the rest of the comp. On the other hand, given the match was won, beginning the preparations for a real pressure match against WCE is probably sensible too.

Pros:

Kruze
Murph
Yazz

Our improvement defensively this year has been the big plus....

Our accuracy over the last 2 weeks has been better due to better inside 50 effectiveness. This was our major deficiency in the first 10 rounds and it's good to see some improvement in this area....

Cons:

None worth mentioning...

My pros:

Kreuzer is a gun.
Murphy is a gun.
Yarran is a gun.
In the 3rd quarter I was taken back to my earlier memories of going to the footy at Princes Park, when we'd kick to the Heatley stand, such was the atmosphere as we got on that roll. A pity that Scotto missed that shot, I reckon the crowd would've been in hysterics if he'd nailed that.

Cons

Poor Hammer
As well as Russell is playing, I reckon he looks pretty lame at the moment. I don't know whether he'd get any benefit from having a week off but it looks like he needs it.
Dropping intensity in the last quarter. You can forgive blokes for being tired given we were down to 20 but moments like Duigan dropping a sitter and Simmo missing that goal at the end (he'd goal 90% of the time), really annoyed me.

On Hendo, I agree that he can lift his intensity another 15-20%. He wasn't leading with intent, nor imposing himself on a marking contest by seeking body contact or squeezing the life out of the ball when trying to mark it. I think at some point it will click for him and he will decide that he doesn't want to be simply one of the 22 but rather he wants to be one of the dominant forwards in the game and take 150+ marks, kick 50+ goals for the season. We've seen Kennedy do that for West Coast, lets hope Hendo can find that belief sooner rather than later.

I'm assuming Waite will be available next week as will Carlos. Will be interesting

Not sure anyone is particularly bagging Hendo are they, but if you have a pros and cons thread it is not unreasonable to put his first half in the cons.
