Thanks Moshe for a great read.....and I was there at all of those games too; although your memory is sharper than mine on dates and venues of games; but the incidents are still vivid.

And guess what?........my Wife and I were married in 1971 too.....40 years together....

Whitnall's debut was pretty good - 4 goals and Rising Star Nomination.

Carl Williams got less than that. Well had he made the distance...

Matthew Allan's first game at PP against the Bears was a good day. Remember his two thumping goals in junk time vividly.

Was at Whitnall's first game also. Thought he handled Wallis admirably. Remember McGuane having a better game than most give him credit for.

Remember Jacob Anstey's first game, never seen a senior player so overawed and scared of the contested footy.

Porter's first game, the first bounce, tap down to Bradley, goal is probably one of my most endearing memories. Was hard done by, Ports

Rd 1 2004...wow, that was something. At least we got Heath Scotland out of it all, I suppose.

Walker's first game was outstanding, Glenny Bowyer's first game really gets overlooked in the scheme of things though.

The Fev game in Adelaide that year, I remember it being Cory McGrath's first game...thought he played a huge part in getting us back into it. Think he was our highest possession gatherer on the day? Wondered why he hadnt played before that.

Bear's great debut was something as well. Thought he'd be an absolute star that day.

Never been so angry about how a coach treated a player than Jesse Smith's first game. Played maybe 5 minutes all game, about the same next week, dropped and then delisted subsequently after. Deserved better.

Thanks for the memories here. McGrath came on late in 2004 but ended up playing better than many of the other recruits for that year.

Dont mean to nitpick but Allan only kicked one in debut:

I remember Mark Majerzack's (sp?) first touch at PP circa 92-93? A lovely left foot goal. Darren Tarczon's first 'touch' when he cleaned up an Eagle with a great hip and shoulder. Then there was Ashley Matthews - took a great floating mark across the pack v the Hawks at VFL Park, kicked a goal and I swear got another 20 games on that one mark.

Yes....Majer had a lot of class about him, but failed to consistently produce it...(Majerczak)

Against the Bulldogs at PP.

Came off the bench, sprinted on the ground and marked at CHF

Majerczak's debut was in 1987 and Tarczon cleaned up Bluey McKenna

Someone might have posted this earlier, but Ryan Houlihan's first game saw him come off the bench, and almost immediately tackle the ''raging bull'' Byron Pickett. The ump pinged Pickett for holding the ball, free kick Houli.

thought it was game two whe he busted his leg?

funny that you mention charles, cause mark porter was the bloke who fell across his leg i'm pretty sure. He himself had a sensational debut agaisnt the bombers in 97 - highlighted by his perfect palm down, down braddles thoat, who didn't break stride out of the middle and slotted it post high from 60m.
