Did anyone else think Merrett was a ridiculous choice? He used evidence from last year for this year's AA team...

Scotland is borderline, as is Garlett, but the four other names are worthy. I'd give Priddis the flick too.

Funny how the people who were first to take pot shots at us when we were down are the first to jump on our bandwagon now that we're becoming a good side...

Apart from the comment on Garlett, I'm agree with you jimmae.

I reckon Merret has been shithouse this year. Gives away tooo many free kicks and allows too many goals through. Clumsy.

Don't worry, Paul Roos will still be there as a lone voice of disdain.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he had to present the Jock McHale medal to Ratts, but only after getting on the mic in front of 100,000 people saying "It was only a matter of time, with those draft picks and all"

Playing Melbourne, Port and Brisbane the last three weeks probably helped "recent recall" too

Anyway Murphy and Judd are certainties. Jamo is a good chance but Demetriou has an unwritten law that you must have two top seasons before you get in. Scotland, Garlett and Walker would be in the top 50 but not AA.

I prefer Rohan's nominations for AA than yours.

Since when has Demetriou had anything to do with AA selection.
I know one of the selctors and I have asked him about the process, and they take it very serious indeed. You only get one crack at it, and you have to justify the selection to have some credibility from the public. The public know their bias exists.

Ever commentator has mentioned Jamison is leading all other FBs for the AA, so if he repeats his efforts in the 2nd half of the season, he's in Demetriou or not.

Did you have the Blues for the 8 before the season started?

Demetriou is chairman of the All Australian committee and has been for quite a while. You should ask the All Austrailian selector you know if you don't beleive me. Jamo has a bit of competition Scarlett, Fletcher, Gibson, Merrett, McPharlin, Glass, Reid etc. etc. so I will stick with my good chance choice rather than a certainty.
I had us with 14-15 wins for the season but that does not mean you need 6 AA to get those wins on the board.

The fact that Scotland is even in the mix in some journos mind is a huge plus for both him and the club. I'm a real rap for the way this bloke goes about his footy.

Agree with everything you said except for Garlett.
He was up there in the top 3 in the comp for pressure acts, tackles I50 and goals per game. For that specialized fwd pocket role, can you name anyone better?

Brent Harvey is a player that could squeeze him out and Nathan Fyffe is another. The selectors try and squeeze in as many midfielders as they can so Jeff might miss out.

Agree, I just think that there are other names in the competition who deserve real consideration ahead of Scotland. He's in superb form though, and he's been a stalwart for us for a long, long time now.

I think Connolly has always been fair with us, in terms of doesn't seem to have an axe to grind.

People thought we wouldn't be that good this year, some people on here want a signed pact from journo's stating how they were wrong?

Get over it people, we are a big club, people hate us, Collingwood and Essendon* people also feel the world is against their sides too.

I think you'll find it's more effective when you let others point out your genius.

Works for me anyway...

Hey Hotcox;

Whilst you are patting yourself on the back you might like to reflect on Mark Austin being a possible in this week, after you told us he would never play for Carlton again (incessantly) (and he's only been back from a serious injury for what 2 or 3 weeks).

Maybe we shouldn't rely on you to "hear it here first" always.

Dane

I knew Andrew Walker was ready to explode a couple of weeks ago when i made this comment. I have now been vindicated with Walker kicking 11 goals in the past two weeks.

Walker will end up being named in a FP in the AA team.

Ok guys, this little argument can stop jumping from thread to thread thanks. We've had our fun with the Austin business, as well as the Arsenal calls, but now we can leave it be (unless Austin actually gets a game).

Hotcox, you probably need to stop trying so hard to prove you have a credible view, and construct an argument, then let the argument prove itself in the fullness of time. Everything else regarding it is just noise.

We are talking about the All Australian team in this thread aren't we?

I posted that Andrew Walker was a smokey for AA honours and have just re-posted that in this thread. If others want to bring up preconceived ideas about what i have said/done then that is there business.

You just tried to big note your victory after getting crapped on for your Austin antics.

You don't think any of this is over the top?
