I'm pretty sure Russell will be ahead of Kerr for a long time to come.

I am a huge fan of Armfield's pace, but I believe like many positions in our team, a better player will evolve and take over the mantle and I think Tuohy will be that player.

That forwardline looks like a Premership forwardline if ever I've seen one.

I agree that Hampson could nudge out Warnock in the end because he is stronger, faster, has a greater leaps and imo seems to be fitter.

No doubt Robbo has arrived in 2011.

Kerr won a contested ball yesterday and fired off a handball that went that fast it bounced of his team mates chest - Diesel would've been proud. Also took a really strong contested mark and his skills are naturally good. He's in form and playing with intent at the moment.

IMO, JR's dithering and just not at his best at the moment. A spell in the 2's to get some confidence wouldn't hurt to sharpen him up for the finals.

The one I hated leaving out was Ellard. Doesn't deserve it but Houlihan and Kerr can be match winners.

I've now come to the realisation that good players who deserve a game are going to be left out of the team every week.
Best 22 is irrelevant.

Don't be too tough on yourself Rexy. Take it from Stamos, there is no right or wrong Best 22. It's an opinion.

I'd suggest the Best 30 available and then judge our bottom 6 from that spot should give us all an idea of the unbeatable premiership team we will unveil in 2011.

Kerr does look special, and Russell is ahead of Ants standard. He did set the bar high last year.

Great to hear Gerard Healy finally say it: The Blues have certainly arrived. They are a serious contender.

Great also hear Frawley say that the Carlton midfield has to be the most potent in the competition....

Start with Judd, Murphy...the 2 best in the land
Supported by...Gibbs, Carrazzo, Simpson, Scotland...career best form...Robbo Curnow, Ellard...there's a few good ones there.
They are seriously good.

Int: Lucas Robinson Ellard Sub: Scotland/Armfield/Houlihan

Lots of rotations and options. Priority is kicking and we have some real hardness.
Goalkicking options and flexibility.

Still happy with this. All the pieces are coming together! :smoking:

That side is starting to look better and better, especially now Touhy is in. I rate guys like Bower & White as well but how do you get them in. They need to show form in the Bullants.

On form Scotland should definitely be in, probably for Lucas and Thornton in for Watson but I just like Watson's kicking but he is probably 12 months away.

If we could somehow add one or two more 'A' grade mids to that lot we would be top 2 easily!

I'm with yu Psych

You've always been a fan and spruiker of what we were going to inevitably seen.
I'm so glad he's had his opportunity. Now I expect him to saty in.

Great story....starting with THAT 1st bounce....right through to holding up the Cup in his first year from the rookie list.

Our Grand Final side:

B: Duigan, Jamison, Russell
HB: Yarran, Bower, Laidler
C: Scotland, Gibbs, Simpson
HF: Robinson, Waite, Garlett
F: Walker, Henderson, Betts
R: Kreuzer, Judd, Murphy
I/C: Warnock, Carrazzo, Ellard sub: Curnow

A fit Bower is better than Thornton or White. Would love to see McCarthy and Watson really pushing Bower next year for that CHF spot though.

Waite and Hendo are versatile enough to swing back if needed but hopefully they wouldn't be needed. Although Warnock not having a great year he's ahead of Hampson in the ruck line.

Would love to slot Houla in there but I reckon Robbo and Jeffrey are ahead of him at the moment. Robbo doesn't have the class of Houla but has so much endeavour! He's one of my favourites. It would be tough to get rid of anyone in that team for Houlihan. All the hard nuts like Robbo, Curnow, Ellard, Judd etc all work really well together... If I had to I'd swap the sub Curnow for Houlihan.

As everyone has said, the depth is by far our greatest asset - Armfield, Lucas, Setanta, Houlihan, Hampson, Thornton, White, Tuohy, Joseph, McLean could all come in and do a job and we still have other talent waiting in the wings!!

It's going to be a great second half of the year!!!

If i had to pick a team to play the grand final next week and our list was fit. I would make two changes on todays team.

Henda out for Waite
Bower our for Laidler

Waite is more reliable than Henda at this stage and Bower needs time in the team to see if he and the backline gel.

Ah, so Jamison's good enough to make your 22 now, hey?

Damn right, wouldn't he be in yours?

Last year my criticsm of Jamison was that he was purely defensive and created no offensive run and was poor in his decision making. As I said then it is important in todays football that a side has a back six that can also provide run. Simply that is my opinion.

It is fair to say that now he now provides all that and more and I couldnt be happier as it is such a vital role. Like Robinson his improvement has been significant and made a huge difference to our side. Unlike like some people here I don't get anything positive out of seeing our players fail and am more than happy to be proven wrong!

I like many others do not really subscribe to the 'best 22' theory and believe the team should be selected based on the opponent to a certain degree. So keep in mind 1 or 2 changes based on structures could be had.

FF: Betts Kruezer Walker

HF: Garlett Waite Gibbs

C: Simpson Robinson Scotland

R: Hampson Judd Murphy

HB: Yarran Thornton Duigan

FB: Russell Jamison Laidler

B: Ellard Curnow Carrazzo

S: Houlihan

With Hendo extremely unlucky due to Waite/Thornton being in good form.

Handy Depth of: White, Army, Joseph, Collins, Warnock, Bower, O'hAilpin, O'Keefe, Touhy.. all ready to take a role.

I would almost say yes, however, PCL's are a nasty injury to return from and I would go as far as saying that his 2011 is pretty much a write off. It is certainly associated with a slow recovery when a player returns to the field

is Kerr your son/nephew Rexy? that would be the only thing to rationalise your argument for him in best 22 IMO
I pissed myself when you pointed out that he won 'a' contested possession yesterday - he's on the improve!
woops I forgot that he took 'a' strong contested mark too!! jeez now I'm convinced

Ever seen Kerr play LL? Kid has a magnificent kick on him and a nose for goal. Another good pre-season and look out.
