Had another conversation with a rock today. Said we would win and garlett would kick a goal.
You rocked it here first!

Geez we're a bunch of sad sacks. I couldnt decide which post to respond to so I'll sum up by saying.

1) Brisbane aren't good value at any price...let alone $14.50
2) People worried about this one were worried about Murph signing. Always something to worry about. Wayne loves you though...go worry with him.
3) My overrated opinion on Bower is based on him hands down beating Franklin and Reiwoldt when he was fit. Better than me not understanding modern football and not being able to recognise attacking defenders are gold and crabs are bad. Even T-Bird has recognised the stuff he was serving up was crap.
4) The only sleep Ratten has lost this week was over whether to have sandwiches or party pies at half time. He already knows the key to beating Brown is pressure through the midfield and F50

Post Jack Riewoldt our defence has performed well against big forwards. Which is good on them and speaks a lot about how they are gelling as a group. Bower will be a handy addition this week and at his best is a GREAT player.

Some stats against key forwards:

Riewoldt 6
Dixon 2
Walker 4
Tippet 3
Dawes 3
Cloke 2
White 0
Goodes 0
Podsiadly 1
N. Riewoldt 0
Kosi 2
Schultz 1
Westoff 3 (Hard to count him though...)
Jurrah 1

We've hardly been flogged this year. The Walker/Tippet combo was the only bad one.

I'm feeling confident, and if we are as advanced as I perceive us to be, we will win whether we play well or not. It's a sign of a good side that you do just enough to get over the lesser sides, and we've done that so far - Melbourne & Port in recent weeks, we won comfortably yet only played about a quarter of good football in each game.

I expect we'll have a few unexpected losses throughout the year, as is the nature of the beast, but I doubt this will be one of them. That said, we can't lay claim to being a consistently good side just yet after 10 rounds so this is another important step in cementing our top 4 credentials.

Good luck to Kreuzer, Henderson and Bower and I am extremely excited to see these 3 lads playing again. All are top quality talents and fingers crossed they get some continuity.

Blues by 51 points.

What a great time slot! Starts here at 10:10 p.pm.
I'll be in bed by 1:30
Very civilized.

Blues by a lot. Brown to kick several. Yarran to run down Rich, strip him of the footy and drill it inside F50 for a sausage and a bronx cheer.

Thanks TBB. Nice post.

The same people "glass half empty" year after year.
Devaluing the team. Devaluing the players. Devaluing progress.
Stuck in the scarring of the dark years.
I say it's time to move on.

There's a lot to like about this list: Player 1-35. We have some serious depth in quality. Don't focus on how young we still are because we are maturing right under your nose.
Firstly in order to see the value in the top 30 players on the list you have to respect who they are, what their credentials are, and what they bring that's a bit different to the next player to this great club. Not degrade them. You'll never see anything degrading players.

There lies the answer to your questions on players.

I'm so glad the Houla haters have almost completely disappeared.
I was disgusted with the treatment Stevens and Russell copped.
I'm glad people can see the value Setanta brings to the team when he's in, rather than his idiosyncracies.
Now, there's a reason why the MC pick Bower every time he's fit and in form. You just have to watch him in the preseason to know he's head, shoulders and feathers (being an emu) above most other talls in the team. If you respect the MC you don't need to question them, and they are doing a damn good job, regardless of how bad they, WH, Ratts is in your mind. Over rating, under rating...we all just generally uninformed punters. One thing we all should do is get on with being supporters.

We are a much better team in 2011, than we were in 2010, and all the players whether tall or small, in or out of the team improve on each year.

In the past, if we had missing Kreuzer, Henderson, Bower, White, Houlihan...we would not be so confident.
With or without the abovementioned I am confident against any team any time.
Ever heard the saying "on their day they can beat anyone" ? There's substance in that.

I have a bitof money on Carlton this year this year, and as usual I will win more than I lose. Such is the enjoyment being a Carlton supporter (note word "supporter").
Most of the person to person bets I make good money on is from negative Carlton supporters: they can't see trees for wood.

We are a damn good team this year...and I'm sure many of you will be surprised when we make the GF this year. Why not? I have plenty of reasons why we will. Have a llok at our list, our achievemnts thus far in 2011, the improvement still to come, and the players we will return from injury that we will add to the team to make it stronger.

We will win by more than 10 goals today. We should win by 15 goals.

Win today and we're 3rd.

With Hawthorn (sadly and tragically) loosing roughead for the season, we're in a great position to cement that top 3 spot!!!

Eddie paying $7 for most goals today.

He's due. He kicked 5 against them last time around. Wouldn't be surprised.

I don't think anyone is 'wrong' about Bower, one way or the other. It's been that long since he's strung consistent games together (not his fault) that can anyone say with confidence he's a part of the best 22? I don't think so.

I think it just depends which Bower you believe is the 2011 model - 2009 Bower who was as TBB described - being extremely competitive against the best forwards in the comp; or 2010 Bower who perfected the 'rabbit in the headlights followed by hot potato' routine better than any key backman I can recall seeing.

Clearly no one wants 2010 Bower, so no-one's 'wrong' about him. But it's fair to have doubts - he has to prove 2010 wasn't an injury induced aberration. Because if 2010 is his ceiling then he's not on the list, let alone being in best 22 conversations. The game's changed quite a bit since he was playing good footy - his hot potato routine won't cut it with forward presses.
