Imagine when Laidler is fit?

FB - Laidler, Jamo, Duigan
HB - Yarran, Russell, Bower

No room for Thornton?

Im one of the first to crack it at T Bird when he's not performing, but Thornton hasnt been that bad lately, despite the slight bleep of making Justin Westoff look like a superstar in the first quarter last week lol

I don't like to see too many changes . Touhy still finding his way, Bower, Hendo and Krooz are good players but have been out for a long time.

Brizzy to get a jump, Blues peg back, closeish for 3 quarters, Blues by 30.

Its obvious to anyone that has any idea on football that Bower has been brought into the side for two reasons.

1) He is cover for a sore Jamison who will be only playing at about 80% capacity.

2) He will help Jamison/Thornton as the third man up in marking contests with Brown.

I would have thought that Ratten has been having a couple of sleepless nights this week trying to work out the best formula to contain Brown who in the past 5-8 years has destroyed Carlton.

If everyone is fit, picking the best backline is near impossible, let alone settle on a post for the best 22 thread.

Next year I could only think of Scotland who may have a slight form dip, but only due to age. With the young draftees to come on, we are starting to look really, really good on paper.

Here's to putting it all together tomorrow and smashing the lions out of the park.

3 changes isn't that excessive. These are 3 guys in our best 22 (when fit) and we needed to get them in sometime.

If we stick to our current systems of play Brown should not impact the game too much. This season our defense has plenty of protection from the mids and forwards. We are defending way up the ground and making it hard for any tall to get ahold of us.
The Bears will probably try what the crows tried and push all their players back and hope they can frustrate us and then get us on the rebound. That is their only hope and personally i dont see them being slick enough or organised enough to pull it off.

We should win the clearances, get the ball forward and keep it locked in our half for long periods of the game which will make it hard for Brown to have an impact.

The 3 changes are pretty much like for like if you look at bower being a swap for Laidler so the balance shouldnt be much different .

We will strangle them and grind them down until we eventually run over them for a good win.
Blues by 55pts.

There was a time I even blamed global warming on Thornton but dropping him now would be very harsh.

2 of 3 changes were because of injuries. Why would u be nervous?

Starve Brown of any of the ball and the rest takes care of itself.

Brown can kick 10 and we'll still win by 10 goals.

I hope we smash this mob.

Hate them for the 2007 thumping.
Hate them for 2009 elimination final.
Hate them for the Fev saga last year and Voss and Brown's smugness about being able to reform him.

Come on Blues!

3 best in's i've seen all year.

Will be at the game tomorrow and what a day it will be - big Kreuzer back and Gibb's 100th, cannot wait!

I can still remember how heart broken I was when the big K went down last year vs. Freo, I just hope he gets through the game ok, anything else is a bonus!

Would love to know what people's overrated opinions of Bower are based on.

'In our best 22'

What bullshit, this is Carlton 2011, you have to earn your spot. A handful of good games (at best) over a few years doesn't make you a certainty.

Nice attacking player Bower. If he can form an understanding with Yaz we will have some serious rebound power.
Will be interesting to see if our new game style requires Bower to be so attacking though or is Thorntons more static style more suited to the 2011 Blues.

At the end of 2010 Ratts rebuilt our backline with players that can kick. Particularly short kicks so we can hold posession and work out way through zones by kicking. Laidler, Duigan, Yaz are all over these skills. Will Bower be able to do it?

Tomorrow we begin to find out. Very exciting.
