Well done Hammer!! Yes he was playing on an injured brogan but he was holding his marks and did some good things.
He has showed what he can do and just needs to develop. All this pressure from the ants his helping our team big time
loving it :smoking:

Very exciting watching us become a great team, good to be apart of.

And the ironic thing is we actually lost that match, if I remember correctly. Late 2002, we played them at Princes Park and went down by 9 points.

Yes.

The great Craig Bradley finished up.

And got 3 Brownlow votes in his last ever game.

This has probably been posted somewhere, but these are the past four last quarters against Port at AAMI:

2008: 7.3 to 0.3
2009: 9.2 to 1.3
2010: 6.6. to 1.1
2011: 7.4 to 0.0

For a total of 29.15 to 2.7

Against a decent team we would have been 6 goals down at half time and up against it.

Luckily PA squandered their chances and we ran away with it in the second half.

It was a ten goal win but it wasn't a ten goal win.

I guess thats when you know thats how far you have come. When your a little bit down you go up a couple gears
and then kick 'em when there down. It's been a while since we have been able to do this. Against a good team we would of come out and played better in the 1st half so i agree we need to be better even against these spud teams to be relentless.

The HS website had Judd in their best - I mean, he played OK but was no way in our best 5-6 today

As a keen Bullants watchers I was pretty disappointed they made Touhy the sub though. Should have given the kid a full game to let him settle into the pace of the game. With guys pushing for selection next week it makes it hard to keep him in the side after just over a quarter of footy this week. Hope I'm wrong though.

I agree.

I thought Duigan had a bit of a shocker actually. Too many fumbles, turnovers and running blindly into dead-ends. Improved in the 2nd half but probably just an off-night.

There's no doubt that we were terrible in the first half. Trying to be way too cute with the ball and underhitting kicks and generally turning it over, but it was great to see the way they worked their way back into the match and eventually took control. At the risk of getting banned, it was very Collingwood-esque, especially with the way we blew them away in the last quarter.

Mitch Robinson - love this guy. He is surely Adrian Hickmott's bastard son?

Watched it thanks to Justin and the Apple. The stream was pretty ordinary in the first half but was good in the second. In the first half I had to stop myself from getting frustrated with the vision, remembering that dad had to listen to Radio Australia for 25 years and here am I getting live sound and reasonable live vision. In the second half it was like watching it on a small screen TV. I am not going to complain about that.
I had Skype on all match. Looked for you before, during and after. That missed call on your mobile was me. We have to get better organized!
All in all I thought the first half we lacked intensity at the footy and let them get to it first. After half time, with Brogan on one leg, things turned around. Setanta had a weird game lots of touches but did nothing with any of them. Garlett was hopeless apart from some nice skills late. Robbo, Scotland, Murphy and Yarran in particular played well. Walker made sure it won't be him that makes way for Kreuzer. Touhy got nothing out of the game apart from a sticky hairdo during the song. Ha has to get another chance next week with more time on the field. His kicki to (I think )Scotland was a pearler.
Judd listed in the best in the Sun. His mum must have written the article.

Nice second half in the wet. 11 goals to one. I'll take the points, the percentage, the lessons and let's get ready for next week under the roof.

Judd, Russell and Curnow looked hampered.
I would rest Judd at least this week. He's shown at Weagles he can play on half a leg but a fit and firing Judd is crucial when we play the big boys. He had no pace last night at all.

Lucky Eddie wasnt in the FOXTEL commentary box last night otherwise who would have taken umbrage at the snide remarks made by Russell and Healy about Yarran & Garlett.

I mean he would have taken umbrage wouldn't he. :?

The conditions at Footy Pk, last night, made for some messy foot skills. Was really windy and the swirling around. Port came out to play and the Blues showed them no respect, except for Walker.

Halfway through the second quarter the switch was flicked and you could see the Blues inching them in one by one.

Ellard was immense in the first half especially, really set up the clearances out of the centre. Thought Murph got on top of Cornes, and ran him ragged, and Hammer had a beauty too.

Robbo. You mad @#$%&! dog. Just a crazy bastard. Got to love his endeavour. Blokes look over there shoulders when he's around. NO FEAR.

Yarran off the back half was our best defender followed by T-Bird. Thornton takes many a grab in the back half and he was great without Jamo there.

Duigs was OK, nothing really outstanding just a serviceable game.

The second half we turned it on, and Port had no answer. Just ran them off their feet....was a sight to behold.

Great numbers of Carlton supporters, and thought the noise we generated was massive.

Onya Blues !!

What did he say? I was at the pub & couldn't hear the commentary well. Thankfully.

He had a rest 3 weeks ago

He got injured 2 weeks ago. Whats the relevance of a break 3 weeks ago?

Yep, he's clearly hampered a bit, despite what the coach says. But we're only guessing from here whether it's something that would benefit from rest.
