Really struggling to understand why we would drop McLean now...

Agreed he hasn't been overly impressive but if ever there was a time to give him an extended run it is now with the 'softer' games against Port, Brisbane etc. Wouldnt want to be taking chances on him at the back end of the season.

All signs pointed to Ratts wanting McLean in the team and it seemed he'd get a good run of games to show his wares. He was getting 30s in the VFL all year so I dont really see what point there is to play him back there now. His issue was adjusting to the speed of the game and his role in the 22, he can't address that playing 2's.

If not know for Brock, then when? (Unfortunately the answer may be never)

Can't play Curnow, Ellard and McLean in the one side.

Yet we flirt with bringing Joseph in who we can't play either really with Curnow and Ellard in the side....

I agree we cannot play Curnow, Ellard and McLean in the one side - clearly because of the lack of pace. Joseph doesnt have an issue with pace and is a different player than the others imo - but he will not be coming in anyway.

It will be interesting if they go for the height of hendo to replace jordy, and go for houla or a mid. It is unikley port will have more than 2 talls in the forward line ie. westhoff and schultz - so jamo and thornton will have them covered. depends if they throw trengove down there as well - if so - it might stretch us - but hey - our midfield should kill theirs so I could play down back and not have a problem!!!

What did he say?

He said that he heard the boos from the crowd on Friday night and thought just as many Carlton supporters would be booing him as Melbourne supporters. He also said that he knows his has lost whatever pace he had and this was predominately as a result of being in a moon boot for 5 months. He spoke about the bruise free game without offending the opposition and finally said he would be working his butt off to improve his game.

I'm in the same boat as Centanaryblue since I heard that interview which was replayed on OTC on Monday night. Really moving stuff.
I really hope Brock makes it. He was pragmatic and honest about his current situation.
He also described himself as a"slow" player and has to really do well in the contested ball area to give the team real value.
And he's giving it his best shot.

Good luck Brock. There's a chance you may keep your spot for another week if Curnow doesn't get the recall...which he deserves, but then again, if Brocky can be given games now to see where he's at, that's better than during the finals series.

I trust the MC, and as I've said before, they are doing a great job in 2011.

Can't wait to finally see Tuohy play in the great jumper.
I always thought that if he was given a chance he'd cement his spot from Day 1 if he doesn't get to ahead of himself.
Great pace, great strength and damn good kicker of the pill. We need as much of that as we can get.

You may have to wait. I think he'll be playing in the slightly less than great jumper.....

Players like mcclean, Henderson and others who either cost us a lot, or have a huge weight on their shoulders, should not get into the team because of these factors.

It's simple, play well or get dropped, play well in the 2s and get a call up. No preferential treatment for anyone.

Good luck to zach, great to see Curnow back too!

I though Warnock had only been OK vs Cats and Saints and Hammer was certainly no worse last week. Very nice ruckwork by the big man and deserves another game.

According to the AFL site Zach Tuohy is elevated because Mitchell needs more work on his shoulder:

Tuohy's elevation comes at the expense of Mitchell once again, with the former Calder Cannon requiring further surgery on the same shoulder, which has seen him returned to the long-term injury list.

Given they gave Mitchell a run last week, it sounds like something went wrong. I'm getting worried about the chronic shoulder issues. Anyone know more?

Yeah I think Warnock could do with another week off he's been looking tired.

Armfield or Joseph to be sub probably.

Hard to pick the bench though.

Good to see Hampson get another go. We need to cover all bases and the mids need to learn how to read his ruckwork as well as they read Warnocks as anything can happen finals time. Also i reckon hampson is better at ground level so if the rain shows up as forcast then he would be more value that Robbie. Hampson has also played in the wet a bit over the last month with the ants so he should be in tune. He should forget about taking a mark and get the rest of his game in order. From there the marks will come with confidence.

Yep

Henderson seems to be ready for a recall, but given it'll be really wet on Sunday, I'd leavr him in Melbourne.

I don't think Hendo cost us anything. We got Lucas (pick 12 with 10 years ahead of him) and Hendo (pick 5 with 10 years ahead of him instead of Bradshaw) for Fev (pick 60ish) and only 9 games on offer. Bargain!!!

Not sure that it's going to be that wet. According to the Bureau of Meterology...

Fri - a shower or two
Sat - a shower or two
Sun - A few showers, windy.

Houlihan should be eased back into the team.. He is a Class Act above the Bullants team and at his best, he is a key asset to our finals campaign...

Henderson should also be eased back in... he is a Key Forward and gives you a tall Option.

Joseph and Armfield should spend some time in the 2's....

I reckon it's time for Henderson to get a game. Important player for us 'going forward' . Can't think of a better time to get him back in the team.

agree with this, extremely important to get another forward working in tandem with Waite, if Henderson isn't ready now he won't be ready later in the year either.

Delighted by the depth on the bench.

Assuming Russ out I would like to see a bench of:

Hendo; Houla; Mitch and Ellard/Army

My thinking on Hendo is he is in better form now and if we lose a tall during the game we are very thin for height. He gives us an option forward and back if we lose a key player.

So of the bench out Russ (inj) Joseph would have either of Ellard/Army as travelling emergency.

Agree with this, and I'd want Army in ahead of Ellard.
