yep, Supercoach the best way to judge players....

Not the best way, but certainly far from the worst. Poor players can't hide from it.

This is the weirdest pre-match thread I can remember seeing. Scotland can't kick or run?

I reckon any team's depth would be tested if three players from essentially the same position go down in the one week. Hardly a sign of crisis in terms of list management.

I'm hoping Houla gets a run. Ultimately I'd like to see him return to his defensive forward role which he was excelling in last year, however this week he'll probably settle across half back. I don't see the sense in disrupting two positions on the ground (eg by moving Houla forward and moving walker back). Big lesson from the NFL when they replace injured linemen.

Hopefully the extra day or two allows JR and Duigan to come up.

I must say one thing which has got me very pleased right now - the lack of fanfare surrounding the Blues. With all this carry on over Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn, the boys are slipping under the radar very nicely. It should continue with us in the graveyard shift this week. let's put another decent W on the board, move the % up a little and quietly go about our business.

Well said - we only play this rabble of scumbags once a year, so let's just get in and out of there without any fights or injuries and get safely home with at least a 7 goal win.

These guys have a tendency to try and get physical with us. Let's not get distracted.

Warnock's tap work is superior to Hampson. One of the things we were getting beaten in on Friday was clearances. I watched Hampson's tap work and he was constantly tapping it to spots where no Carlton players were present. In contrast, Warnock seems to be more 'to advantage' - he just has a better understanding of where his troops are.

This of course could be because he plays with them every week whereas Hampson doesn't.

The biggest gripe on Hampson is his total inability to hold most of his marks. In fact when he finally held one he drew ironic cheers.

How hard is it for the lad to be able to grasp the thing?

Collins can play, don't worry about that.

If he's fit and in form I'd have him in as quick as a flash.

Collins can play........................ in the VFL for the rest of the year...
If he was half decent. Richmond wouldn't have traded him to get Grigg..
Reminds me of another Tim Powell....

Warnock has taken a whole of 4 more marks than Hampson this season, from two more games...he's a veritable marking machine in comparison to Hammer!

How many of his Richmond games have you seen him play?

He was good up forward yesterday in the Bullants.

I know for a fact Richmond didn't want to trade him so they did rate him.

As good as Warnock is he really doesnt take enough marks around the ground - he's 206cm FFS.
Hampson just cant mark plain and simple.

This is another reason Kreuzer becomes so vital, because he CAN mark. Unfortunatey with the current ruck set up that get out of jail kick to the ruckman which could be used to great effect just can't. This will all change when the big K man returns and he will become a focal point from kick ins....

Reckon the extended interchange may be telling for the pecking order of a few this week also:

I'll have a stab and say..

In: Warnock, Houlihan, Joseph, Henderson, and then....Davies or Austin for the last spot.
Out: Hampson, Laidler

Think it will come down to whether Russell plays or not. He doesn't - Gibbs takes his role, Joseph takes Gibbs'. Gibbs to Gray, Joseph takes Boak.

Don't see the benefits of Hendo playing as a forward. Tall forward lines simply don't do well at AAMI. Adelaide look a lot better there when they have just two, even one of Tippett, McKernan and Walker, and have done so for a while. If he (or Austin) plays down back, fine, if the matchups suit. Westhoff, Schulz, and Motlop I guess are the 3 to match up on. Jamo should go to Westhoff, not confident in Thornton taking Schulz, Motlop = Duigan if fit.

No mention of Duigan there, must be OK this week. Have to find replacement for Laidler. Gibbs and/or Walker to backline, in Hoops and/or Collins to forward line. If Russell doesn't come up, in Joseph. There you are, I should have been a selector eh?

I wish Robinson would learn how to dispose of the ball under pressure. No point in getting 30 possession if you turn over half of them. Turn overs kill you ....

Really happy to see the big O playing well.

I think the 2 ruckman Warnock and Hampson are both struggling atm but we need to give them time and i bet one of them
if not both of them will star in coming years. Big fella's dont usually start holding there marks until they have at least played
100 games unless your Big Kruez IMO . I think warnock will be the next sandilands big call but i have faith i think his tap work is very very good just needs to get another pre season under his belt without injury.
For now we just need to get games into them and they will come good for sure.

One of these Ruckmen will be traded ... most likely Hampson ... Unfortunately someone will offer him an opportunity that he can't get at Carlton.

Unless he improves a lot, he won't be getting any Jacobs/Mumford type offers.

Some players have to accept they are second string ruckmen. Name me a team where he would be first ruck.

I love Robbo's enthusiasm and my mates and I just call him the Psycho now. I have never seen a player so completely mad and without a shred of self preservation. He is important to the team but either needs to stick to hand passing or become self aware when he has that 2 extra seconds to steady himself and make the right passing by foot option. The pass to Walks in the Saints game shows he has a decent enough kick, its the grey matter that can let him down at times.

He reminds me very much of Fraser Brown in his early years. Browny`s disposal and discipline was ordinary at times too but he proved to be such a vital part of the side.

Good call -maybe he's the new Mad Dog!

I have thought the same thing myself. Maybe great minds do think alike.
