Andrew Walker has some nice skills but his ball drop from hand to foot isnt one of them and results in some poor kicks especially on the run.
Carrazzo has a similar problem..its a awkward looking two handed release rather than one main hand being used to guide the ball down to the foot. Who ever does kicking coaching down at the club needs to get onto it because it detracts from Walkers game.

in an upcoming ghost article a poiint is made that kids today should still be taught the drop kick become it teaches kicking basics better than all other kicks. try a two handed drop drop kick......

I think we should get the irish lads, carrots , prender and walker all practising drop kicks until they can kick them like robbo or syd. then watch how they deliver the drop punts.

In a way, I might be the only one who thinks this, but I have a suspicion that a lot of it is decision making. He spots a target kicks it to advantage but more often than not, the opponents have seen what's he about to do and get men to where he will kick it. I don't actually think it's kicking as such but rather his perception on where he thinks a team mate will be that's the problem.

His kicks spin perfectly generally, but he needs to stop kicking to 2-on-1 or 3-on-1 contests. That is decision making in my opinion, not a poor kicking style.

I think sometimes he just tries to be too fancy, I think that maybe he feels that he has to do something brilliant every time he gets the ball. I reckon he just has to keep it more simple, go the percentage option more often.

Andrew needs to learn to be a good ordinary player before he can become a superstar. Someone needs to tell him we don't want him to be Judd, we want him to be a part of the team. The superstar thing will come in a few years.

I can see some stints in defence for Andrew this years as part of his ongoing education.

Walker's kicking is a work in progress and he wil be a brilliant player in time. But why o why did we draft Russell who by all reports, Wisbey and Carlton fans who've seen him play, when his kicking is equally bad if not worse. I hope Russell becomes a player and his pace and size suits the gameplan, but I fear we may regret not grabbing another highly rated KP player. And I know we drafted Hartlett with the next pick but he has been likened to Matthew Richardson, which doesn't excite me as to his potential as a senior player. Or on reflection maybe Cameron Wood as French is getting on and Russell will take the same time to develop.

His kicking was pretty good last night.

Love his move up forward but he worries me with his selfishness and general lack of smarts. Just didnt do the basics well enough last night and chased cheap goals in the second half. Was very poor on quite a few occasions where he just didnt help out. It is not just about kicking goals and he could learn a lot form Betts there.

Hes strong and fit but just hasnt improved like we'd have hoped - a beep test bully. Need him to really take on board this team defence stuff. Fingers crossed, a long way to go i reckon.

Here a heads up by the end of the season AW will be a 80-90 goal kicked based on average - how many Carlton players can boast that!

Walker has deficiencies, however, to suggest he "chased cheap goals" is bizarre. Yes he got a couple of easy goals, but "chased" them, not for mine.

He took a strong mark from a great Garlett kick and received a 50 metre penalty, he also received a handball over the top from Waite a couple of metres out but Waite couldn't kick it & it proved clever by him to handball to Walker. His other goals were solid, good goals.
