He did actually. It was Armfield. Poor work by the player, not the coaches fault.

I will say it again and if this post gets put off I dont care, Varcoe had no opponent for 12 minutes .

The players have developed as you expect.
The coach isnt up to being a headcoach
Varcoe should have been manned up.

Your going to tell me Armfield walked out of the halftime dugout knowing he was going to man up Varcoe and proceeded to leave alone on the corner of the centre square with nobody near him.

Thats bullshit

me too - they are getting worse. don't know if they are trying to make it more interesting but it's not working.

but at least in tassie we don't have to put up with ads after goals, so you tolerate bad camera shots from time to time

You are wrong. You are saying because no one was standing next to him at the centre square he had noone on him. You see that at all games every week. Been happening since the 80's.

If we planned to play noone on him then all the coaches should be sacked.

Wasnt the case though. He had opponents. He played well and had a purple patch. Good on him. You cant blame all goals on Gavin Brown just because he is the defensive coach.

When the players look like they are not improving its the coaches fault. When its obvious they are improving you say that players are good enough to improve but the coach is still not up to it.

Let it go Keogh. You are probably the only left who isnt behind Ratts.

You've mentioned it three times now. That thread was just attention seeking, when it could have easily posted in many current threads.

Russell was his oppenent, he allowed Varcoe to creep up on the wing whilst he stayed on the hbf - he kicked his third goal on Arma, when Russell let it go through his legs.

Yep. Just rewatched it. Russell got himself lost in traffic on one and then paid for sagging off. We did a good job on him in the first half but let himself down in the third.

I don't think Ratten helped with this last night; Russell and Yarran swapped which end of the ground they were playing more than once. Both were stopping their opponents when in defence, but Russell was caught napping regularly after the first swap.

Finally a Carlton side that plays as though it has real pride in the jumper. That's a major positive after ten years of what we've watched. There are things which need to improve, but when you've got blokes who believe in themselves and each other and play with passion for the cause then you can start to take those steps.

While the result is dissappointing - the Carlton that I used to know is back.

Another lacklustre, underwhelming and impactless game by Gibbs. When oh when is he going to take charge of a game? He only seems to play well when he's given a tagging job. Not sure if it's the instructions he's given or if it's just him but he is reactive, not proactive

Right now
Judd, Murphy, Simpson, Curnow, Scotland, Jamison, Waite, Garlett and maybe 3-4 more would cause Carlton more grief if they got injured.

Can someone fix this problem up. It's his 5th season FFS.

I'll say it again. Play him as a HF/FWD mid ALL F$%^ING YEAR. He's a good kick and maybe a few goals might get him a little enthused

Cotchin and Martin from Rich are comfortably ahead of him. Would take either of them in a heart beat over Bryce

In hindsight.... i think we all kind of wished that HE didnt get off his own back and had someone else take the kick...

Russell.Armfield whatever he was not manned up for 12 minutes. I would think if a guy as dangerous as Varcoe would have had an opponent on him at the start particularly when he is forward of the centre.

you would have more chance of picking it up if you were higher up like in the coaches box.

And that doesnt happen all the time when a gut has no opponent when the ball is up.

I'd be livered if a gut had no opponent.

(Did you see what I did there?)

CFC Facebook!

I have to confess that I felt sick in the stomach when I heard this on ABC radio today. And I regret having such an angry whack at him last night straight after the game. I hereby promise never to post a negative comment when I am angry - cardinal rule is to hold off putting anything to paper in the heat of the moment. I am sorry I didn't apply this rule last night - but I still think he should have kicked it.

For what it is worth in the cold light of day - my overall view is that we really are premiership contenders and like Gerard Whateley (ABC) we will only get better as the season progresses. And when we get kruz, hendo and curnow to name but three - No.17 is ours.

The boys are hard and committed and play for the team (though didn't like duigan bawling out armfield over the hawkins goal on half-time cos duigan was closer.)

Just need experience.

And to those who had a go at "tasmanians" - especially lonni blue - chewy on your boot!. But i still love youse cos we all love the blues.

It's not just you daggs.

What really annoys me though is when you hear the ball being bounced whilst being shown yet
another picture of the coaches watching the game.

This could be a thread all by itself.
(maybe it is - haven't checked).
