Do you think Bobby gave 206 a nudge on the way in?

Pros:
good endeavor and put ourselves in a position to win the game
Skills were good
Duigan Yet again rose up when it mattered
Garlett and Yarrans pressure (particularly yarrans second half tackling)
Waite Is finally looking to be more consistent
Goal kicking was better overall

Cons:
A game which we had many opportunities to break away in we just couldn't do it
Let them score too many goals on the rebound
We had a handful of opportunities to win it which we managed to butcher
A few clanger kicks across HB
WE LOST

Flower anyone who needs this match to prove that we are a threat. Who cares what the critics think. We know were good enough to match it with the best.
This is the last time I want to hear anything about being satisfied with a loss. We've proven to ourselves that were good enough, it's time to take the next step...

If people are negative after this effort they can go and flower themselves. Effort was A+ against a very good team and unlucky not to win, dont pin it on one person, we still need to improve decision making and delivery / receiving - Cats movement of the ball to their attack was better then us, but we had more intensity and fight.

If we keep this up we WILL be top 4 and we will worry the Cats and Pies. I am very happy with the development of the team and I am very happy with the recruitment this year.

Anyone know how bad Judd is ?

Crossed my mind must admit, but either way the old bloke's passing raised the emotional stakes of this game significantly. We could have and should have won, are clearly improving, and should be a fair chance to knock them off next time. Missed Curnow IMO.

@#$%&!!! Just finished watching :hitcomputer: . so bloody close.

Great game by the Blues but, shit, should've won.

Can't wait for Kruezer to come back in. Probably for McLean.

No way. Henderson shouldn't be played until he is white hot.

Warnock and Setanta pathetic all night
Missed Curnow
Took to long to put Carrazzo on Selwood
Need Henderson or Kruezer up fwd
Duigan and Laidler great games
Scotland Murphy awesome
Defence very good, attack average
Yarrans defensive work very good

Reality is we are close, probably 3-4 players off top 2 spot.

agreed with most of the above - except thought setanta was ok........but kruezer and hendo and curnow will give us those three players (and bower, forgot him for a minute)

Curnow, Lucas, Kruezer, Houlihan, Touhy, White, Bower are all players that can make us better!

Just an awesome effort from the boys.

From now on, thats it, thats the standard, now we've proved we're top 4 standard.

Without that joke of a free kick to Lord Selwood halfway through the 2nd qtr, when we had the momentum, we continue on and win this game.

Don't worry, we're a contender, a top 4 side!

WHAT IS PRIOR OPPORTUNITY?????
WHAT IS PRIOR OPPORTUNITY?????
WHAT IS PRIOR OPPORTUNITY?????
WHAT IS PRIOR OPPORTUNITY?????
WHAT IS PRIOR OPPORTUNITY?????

When you find out tell those yellow cauliflower, forget Warnock missing, it was not rewarding the tackler that really cost us. In particular Yarran running down someone WHO ATTEMPTS to kick the ball ie. had prior opportunity.

Umpire calls play on, another tackle isn't rewarded and Duigan gets pinged for mouthing off.

COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSHIT!!!!!

Couldn't be prouder of our boys though.

Just a few minor tweaks to the team and we'll be fine.

Armfield didn't belong out there.
Ellard did.

Well done Thornton also, played really well and should keep his spot regardless of what the peanut gallery here thinks.

PS - Selwood is a whiny little cauliflower, Judd never gets those sort of cheap bullshit frees.

A great game that we should have won.

Ignoring for the moment that we blew three chances to win it in the last three minutes (Waite, Walker, Warnock), I thought we really lost it by persisting with dinking little short slow kicks for the first 20 minutes of the quarter while Geelong just kicked long twice to the forward 50 (same as the Pies in the second half). We didn't play to our stengths at all.

As someone who has been critical of Waite on occasion, tonight he was the player he is capable of being every week if he would just forget about his opponent and the umpires, tone down the agro a notch, and just play football. He was marvellous.

What tonight has taught me is there is basically nothing between the top three sides this year so we may as well win the flag just to spite everyone.

Spot on............sadly. What a shocking effort. Wimmera League 3rds at best. We owned 80% of the last Q, and were in front in all the indicators. How many times did the Geelong players choose to take us on, or were run down from behind, takcled and..............."play on". WTF :banghead: :banghead:

We're crying out for someone to help Wait up forward. Hendo, come on down pal.

And, Ratts better work out how to free up Yazza, because that's the 2nd time he's been taken out of the game by a defensive forward. Yarran is nearly our most damaging player, if he can be freed up.

Yep - top 4 is the target now with 2 finals wins. The team looks good and work well together. I'd leave it alone as much as possible with the exception of Kreuzer. Our #1 aim MUST be to stop colonwood from winning another flag.

The free was there, but it happened in the third quarter.

We still had a quarter to win it.

No excuses.

Thornton played well.

Agree totally, came on expecting a lot of praise for the team, about how we had improved and how we gave a top team a massive scare about how much better we can get.

But nooooooooooooooo.
And anyone who blames Warnock for the loss, simply has no idea.

The best players in many sports will all tell you it's about "the decisive moment".

Executing when it matters is what matters. Your logic is sound, but human emotions aren't logical. Pressure to kick the shot from 15m to win the game. It's an easy shot usually, but just enough angle to make it missable. Do you want to take it?

Warnock was sore, but my immediate instinct was that he didn't want it. When I saw he wasn't keen, I thought "Do a Brian Lake and stay down". Let Garlett kick it FFS. He looked miserable lining up. But he took the shot. He missed horribly. It was the match-losing miss of the year.

And that's the way it is. It's unfair because Robbie's ruckwork was beautiful at times.

Cant believe we lost

Controlled the game for extraordinary lengths of time. For once Geelong kicked straight and made us pay.

A couple of dodgy free kicks (the in-the back to Selwood when we were away and they kicked a goal), as well as the free kick against Duigan for abuse.. There were a heap more going against us but these two were killers.

Murphy showed that he is elite as he carried us in the midfield with Judd sore...

Scotland, Gibbs were both brilliant and hopefully silenced their knockers.

Cant be too upset with that tonight as the boys put it to a premiership calibre side, playing with the extra motivation of their favourite son dying..

Warnock was too groggy to take the kick. He should have just stayed down, and gone off, let Garlett kick it.

Can't blame it all on him though.
Why wasn't anyone protecting the line for Waite's shot?
We had another inside 50 after Robbie's miss, but Scotty picked our Scarlett.

Really though, we can blame the maggots. 50MPs not paid to Betts and Waite (both would have been certain goals), but they paid a softer one to Bartell. All the shit with Selwood. The free for abuse in the goal square. Probably worth at least 3-4 goals.
