We got closer than the so-called favourites Collingwood, and did it basically without a Judd-like input from Judd.

Disappointed we didn't grab the win, but so happy with the resolve of the players to not let Geelong street us when they had the momentum in the third.

More upside than down, IMO.

Their experience and playing for a dead legend got them over the line.

We will smash them on the G in a final.

The curse of the bye strikes again.

Do you think they have No Umpires, No Selwood threads over at Geelong?

What's Judd's injury? How bad?

It's about where and when with moments. Rationalise all you like, if Warnock kicks that goal we win......no ifs or buts! Argue that!!! There's very little play after that to affect the way the game goes.

I find this a too simplistic way of looking at a game. Why is one miss more costly than other misses? They all have the same effect on the scoreboard, which is where it matters.

We will get stuck into Warnock, when he missed a shot that was in all probability as easy what others missed throughout the game.

I don't buy that. As much as I hate to pin the loss on Warnock, the Cats weren't good enough to hold on to their lead; they just got lucky.

Okay, Cats fought back and did very well to even the scores up at half-time, but there were at least two periods where Geelong had momentum and the lead and I thought they were safe, yet we were good enough to wrest back the lead. Of course, the scoreboard will say you are right, but it's not as simple as that. A lot for us to take out of tonight's game.

Warnock is usually an okay kick for goal, so give him that shot again and we'd be talking about how we are almost as brave as Essendon*.

Choke kick cost us yes but have been saying it for a while now our forward entries are disgracefully disorganized unless bombing the ball is our tactic....other areas have improved greatly this year....midfield defense structures but when we enter fwd 50 we have no idea....we should have won by 2 to 4 goals tonight....

It was a great game and we played good and mostly solid footy!

I'm pretty proud of how the game played out (a goal from 15 out with 2mins left would have been good.) But I think its games like this that will drive the playing group well into september, they understand our best footy is a match and we can beat these guys... and we will!

Pfft, that's an easier option than Selwood ducking his head.

Warnock hasn't even played 50 games of footy yet and we're asking him to lead our ruck division. He's doing a pretty good job if you ask me. Give the guy a chance to develop.

Robbie seemed a reliable kick for goal last year. Lost his mojo now.
And why didn't we have anyone to shepherd Waites long bomb through? :donk:
Cats got lucky that we couldn't finish the job

McLean good at stoppages. Bad everywhere else.
Warnock and Setanta pathetic all night
Missed Curnow
Took to long to put Carrazzo on Selwood
Need Henderson or Kruezer up fwd
Duigan and Laidler great games
Scotland Murphy awesome
Defence very good, attack average
Yarrans defensive work very good

Reality is we are close, probably 3-4 players off top 2 spot.

Or another 15-30 games of development. Undeniable signs of improvement over last year and the years prior.
