- We won
- Duiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigan
- Jamo gave Hrreeevoldt a BATH.
- Yaz...wow.
- Heath Scotland. Rock solid.
- Carlos pretty good esp that mark in the last.
- Saints season is all but over.
- Bye next week will be much needed!

Cons
- Jarrad Waite and all his brain fades. I swear to god I have never been so frustrated with one of our blokes before EVER.
- Goal kicking. Meh. Last time we played the Saints we kicked 20.9!!!
- Decision making: IF YOU TAKE A MARK INSIDE FIDDY, STOP, TAKE A DEEP BREATH, GO BACK AND HAVE A SET SHOT.
- Warnock got smashed by McEvoy... I mean seriously
- Kosi and Milne got some form
- Judd's clanger in the last...I nearly threw up.

39 hitouts to 21? Warnock was also smacked over the head and had a cut opened up, which can't help your balance.

The commentators missed it, and the crowd wouldn't have been able to see but Judd was kicking to a spot, and two of our blokes were idiotically running into the congestion instead of taking his cue and pushing into the space. Good kick, bad read.

one quick con - the flower of an aints player who elbowed Curnow's injured shoulder when he was clearly in a whole lotta pain!!!!!

i don't mind a bit of biffo, but that was a low, dog act!!!!

positives -

backline, backline, backline
we won without Juddy starring

I enjoyed:

Walkers game
Yarran's game
jamo's game (first half against Roo was superb)
Watching Jeffy stalk that ball
seeing JR reach 100, and enjoy the win so much!
Warnock's game in the ruck

I liked less:

some decision making
failure to take advantage of inside 50's
lack of run at times
failure of umpires to punish the maulers.
anything about st kilda except BJ

Jimmae, when it's heat of the moment, game on the line, without the benefit of analyising the replay, I'm so not thinking that way!

Pro:

Jamo's first half. Amazing. He was beaten in the 2nd but by then the life was out of Riewoldt.
Duigan. Gun, enough said. Getting better each week and is a absolute rock.
Yarran. Very, very special does all the right things.
Gibbs. Cleaned up Goddard, and made him ACCOUNTABLE. Would like to see Gibbs get the job as a defensive forward more often. Interesting he was used in the exact way that clubs were playing against him last year. (ALA Motlop and Green)
Walker's mark and goal.
O'hAilpin. Keeps trying, gotta love him when fit.
Robbo's heart. Between Scotland, Simpson, Robbo, Ellard we've got a culture of blue collar players who bleed navy blue, and it's excellent.

Cons:

Thornton show once again he is useless as a backman.
Milne's first quarter.
Forward Line. This is still the flaw. A fit Hendo will mean less pressure is on Waite, who WHILE FRUSTRATING is playing great footy as a floating forward. Need more to happen when Eddie and Jeff are shut down. Maybe Eddie on ball and Gibbs, Murph or Yazz up forward.
Letting them come back at us. Too many errors, poor kicks and missed chances. Though the real factor is a freakish 7.1 to 3.8 is always going to cause trouble.

Either way HAPPY with the win. Loved robbing these scumbags.

-Carrots getting a key clearance in the back pocket, then following it up and getting possession for us
-Judd diving in and committing his body to knock a player out of the way
-Robbo's kick
-Walks goal
-Setanta's mark

Cons
-Ed's injury
-everyone talking about thd brave Saints

PROS
Winning a game we would have lost not long ago
Winning without Juddy dominating
Gibbs - I've been a critic but for me that was his best game, shut out Goddard and won the ball in a desperate contest
Duigan - how did this guy not get drafted until he was 26?
Yarran - another great high pick. He is an absolute Rolls Royce
JR - great 100 games - has improved steadily each year and will play 250 for us - Caz will feel good about him - smart selection in a thin draft
Waite presented very well
Forward line looking more multi pronged
Jamo terrific first half
AJ's smother in the 2nd?
Setanta - forget what the idiot commentators said, he was very good and way better than Warnock. Made a couple of questionable decisions, but who didn't
Almost forgot Robbo, sometimes his mongrel punts are a throwback to the 70s but he has some spark and some mongrel and his last qtr and pass to Walker were terrific.

CONS
Very wasteful could have thrown away a certain win
Decisions - Simmo is terrific but why meander around on the mark when you have a set shot 30 metres out straight in front
Warncok - had looked much improved but the last two weeks has been very average
Curnow's injury
Commentators deciding Setanta will do terrible things and forgetting the great left foot pass to set up Waite, and the great evasion and pass to set up Simmo plus about 4 contested marks. Check his scoring efficiency see how it stacks up. Meanwhile Riewoldt's embarrassing disposal is excused.

simpson and waites 3rd quarter momentum shifting decisions to not have shots at goals from inside 50. you would think both of them would @#$%&! know better considering their Essendon* blunders were only a few weeks ago

Pros

We won and we're 3rd :thanks:
Aints gave their all - including targetting Judd/Murph off the ball big time in the 1st half. Their season was on the line and they were due - but we still beat them :donk:
Duigan......what a find this bloke is  Strong, good mark, fearless, composed, leader, rarely turns it over.
Yarran is pure Gold, and will only get better. They simply cannot catch the guy, and his skills are sublime.
Jamo is rapidly approaching AA form. Great first half but found it tough to go with Reevolt in the 3rd (but threw up trying  )
Jeffy G is sooooo dangerous. Freakish talent.
Gibbs best game IMHO. I've been one of his knockers but seems to relish being given a job on the opposition's best, so keep giving him those roles.
Great 2nd half Juddy. The Syd game may have jaded him, but he still found that other gear.
Murph was good for most of the night, and Irish gave us plenty.
Robbo was very important. He's a maniac

Cons

Missing chances to ice the game.
Milne having yet another big one against us :banghead:
Curnow's injury

i forgot kicking for goal as a con. on the drive home i heard our accuracy for the year was at 47 per cent.

i guess the important thing for now is that were getting in there and creating opportunity right???

Bloody hell............... that was tough to watch.

PRO's:

- We won (albeit very very luckily)

- Duigan (great pick up. Looked like he's been playing AFL for years)

- Yazz (Andrew McLoed anybody?)

- JR (100 games. Well done mate! They we're a tough 100 games for you no doubt, and many, including me, never thought youd make it! But you've earnt it! Well done._

- Setanta (Give him crap all you want, this guy gives 110% each and everytime! Sure, he's not great in the ruck - but FFS at least he tries. Which is more than I can say about Hampson and Warnock! Setanta has heart and plays for the CFC jumper! I love that about him!)

- Jamo! (yup, he surely must be close to AA.)

- Gibbs (steped up a notch after a few so-so games)

- We get a week off (Thank christ, cause we need it!)

CONS:-

- Not Impressed. (Enough said.......... just not impressed.)

- Judd (can be forgiven cause, well, he's Judd!)

- Warnock (spent most of the time with his back towards play or standing there with his hands on his hips. I don't
know if it's his fitness or just that he doesn't give a crap but bloody hell, he needs to change!)

- The players who started on the bench (Scotland (has been wonderful this year) Garlett (Our leading goal kicker) and Curnow (a shining light and welcomed addition to the midfield).................. WHY start these players on the bench?????)

- THOSE BLOODY JUMPERS (Nope, i hate em. I prefer the Whites)

- We're 3rd on the ladder (do we deserve to be? I'm not sure. Yeah i'll take it, but we need a lot more work to EARN it!)

P.S. Seeing StKilda go at Curnow's shoulder tonight. Let's just take a deep breath. Ed came back on........... That's footy. Brisbane did it to the Saints a few years back after Nick stayed on, i don't see anything wrong with it!

A good on you Ed for coming back on! That shows balls!

Pros:

Scotland steady as usual
Glad the recruiters took the advice of posters like myself & selected Yarran
Some great chases from Garlett
Walker's poise at the end. Was rapted for him.

Cons:

Played like millionaires first half of the 3rd

Thank God someone else picked up on this....we really need to work on our fwd entries we are so disorganized when we go forward....

Pros:
We've learnt how to tough out wins, even when not at our best. We're much better drilled, and the players really seem to have confidence in where we're headed.
Jamison, Yarran, Duigan and Russell.
Gibbs.
Warnock and Santy.
Most of our forwards contributed at different times. Clutch goal by Walker at the end.
Robbo. Also thought Carrazzo had a slashing first half.
Obviously it's easier when you win, but thought Ratts presented pretty well in the post-match interview on channel 10 in the rooms.

Cons:
Curnow's injury.
Goalkicking.
Looked nervous and flat early. And pretty tired as the game went on. Bye has come at a really good time for us.
Judd really struggled tonight I thought.
Waite was an important player, but his decision making tonight was poor. Held on to the ball, when he should have moved it on quicker. Moved it on quickly (and inaccurately) when he should have held on to it.
Joseph was thrashed early. And while he improved, we're still not getting enough out of him and Armfield at the moment. It's a pity Lucas struggled yesterday, because I think it's time for him to get a run at senior level again.

4 points
5.5 out of 7
Duigan
Yarran
Gibbs
Jamo
Decimated backline and we still won
Jeffy's goals
Tex' goals

CONS
Should be 6 out of 7
Kicking at goal
The maggots, kept them in it
Players taking a mark within goal distance, not going back and having the shot :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: (Setanta, Waite, Simmo in the third, Scotty in the last).
Those ridiculous 'away' jumpers.

IIRC Simmo's one was the ump calling playing on because he shuffled one foot sideways. He was going back to the take the kick, and didn't even realise it was play on until a team mate pointed it out.
