I can't help remembering the Hawthorn game last year @ Etihad - we were travelling nicely after 9 rounds, they were struggling and had been under the pump from the media for underperforming. They played themselves back into form in that game against us, and the fortunes of the two sides reversed for the remainder of the season.

If we're not switched on from the start, I could see a similar thing happening his week. A good start is very important. We must put scoreboard pressure on them early so as not to give them a sniff....

We ended up losing Kruezer shortly after which hurt us as much as lenny hayes being absent for them...

This time Kruezer will be returning..... :smoking:

Lets just hope teh Carlton faithful dont expect too much this season from the big fella - just get through strong and ready for next year

A knee reco is almost like a 2 year injury these days, the year you miss when you hurt and teh second year is generally hampered from not being able to have a full pre-season so you are behind the 8 ball - second year seems more like get fitness and confidence back into your body

Fair enough bomba. I hope he gets through the season unscathed and has has a ripper pre season.

I just can't see Krueze holding back...

Thornton for Joseph makes plenty of sense, far better balanced team.

Do you think? I like the fact we have so much run. Gives us more rotations which gives us more legs for the press and spreading from contests. Also gives us more energy around the contests that allows us to cut supply to their tall forwards. Over the last season we have won plenty of games with a short backline.
I reckon Lyon picked Kosi hoping we would bring in another tall to combat him robbing us of a running player. Hopefully we dont get sucked in.

I dont mind Thornton for White though.

T-Bird has played some good games on Kozi, when Kozi was semi decent too.

Yep, I'll pay that Club, could well be Thornton for White, but having seen Joseph in Sydney, he was a definite weak link, Army really made a difference when subbed for him in the 3rd qtr. If he was more than just an honest trier, my answer would be different.

With his versatility, T-bird can be thrown onto guys like Milne or a clueless Kosi or sit in a "Dawsonless" goalsquare if need be. Players like Tex can go back or fwd or even into the middle if run is what we need.

Kosi is near useless if the ball hit's the deck, can't run out of sight on a dark night and his fitness is awful.

If T Bird can play on him he could give us a fair bit of run from the backline coz Kozi can't chase.

..very different team back then.. ..the Krooz was a little down on form, Knockers is workin g well with his mids.. ..Ellard and Curnow and even Robbo add much more midfield grunt, Murphy's playing better too.. ..assistant coaches also have us playing with more maturity.. ..Waite was very dynamic vs them last yr, and is much fitter now..

..i reckon we'll cut them up.. ..they're so slooooow..

It sounds good as we've had the balance right lately but appear to be one tall short tomorrow night. It's only possible if White plays though which sounds unlikely.

I'm picking Thornton to play, and Yarran to be the late withdrawal.

Joseph probably needs to play on Milne.

The jungle drums are telling me that White will be a late omission - due to a foot injury.

Big Koschitzke back in the team tonight, and ready for his breakout year. I'd be very wary of him..could kick about 5 or 6 to sink us.

That was before 2011

Round 1: Morton
Round 2: Doesn't really count
Round 3: Blair
Round 4: Hooker
Round 5: Johncock (not a dud, but not the player he was)
Round 6: McVeigh (again, not a dud, but ALWAYS has a field day against us)

We're not past that shite yet

What a great opportunity it is for our boys to make a statement that we belong in the top half of the 8. They showed so much character over the past two weeks and now it is time to follow that up with a strong, dominant effort over a struggling opposition.
Looking forward to tonight.
Go Blues!
