We know Coutts doesn't understand the 21st Century and all, but I don't rank sending emails en masse and uploading a webpage once a week to be something you need an "IT genius" for.

Carlton
B: Dennis Armfield, Michael Jamison, Jarrad Waite
HB: Heath Scotland, Paul Bower, Jordan Russell
C: Kane Lucas, Aaron Joseph, Ryan Houlihan
HF: Chris Yarran, Setanta O’hAilpin, Kade Simpson
F: Matthew Kreuzer, Chris Judd, Eddie Betts
Foll: Sam Jacobs, Bryce Gibbs, Marc Murphy
I/C (from): Steven Browne, Andrew Carrazzo, Jeff Garlett, Lachie Henderson, Chris Johnson, Bret Thornton, Simon White

In: Thornton, Waite, Johnson, Browne
Out: Brock McLean (hip)

This is last years squad for the round 7 clash v Sts.

On paper we probably haven't 'improved' personnel all that much really.
No doubt we are getting a more consistent and even spread of contribution, but I can only wish we had a fit and firing Bower, Kruze, Hammer and Hendo to choose from this week.

Warnock has been in great form so far this year so hopefully that is a major improve on last years team, we also didn't have the in and underwork from Ellard and Curnow to give us access to the ball at stoppages.

I also think a fit and in form Walker will really add to the forward dynamic this year too.

Geez, that's one average centreline....

Thanks for the above Lily 'o.

Interesting. I'm with you about the advantage we'd have with last year's talls available for this game.
They're not so we deal with what we've got.
3 tall backmen on Monday will be Jamison, White and Russell to mind Reiwoldt, Kozi and probably Gilbert.
They still seem a bit short for the Saints forwards. On the flipside imo we are copying the collingwood model.
Our talls are more fleet footed runners of the ball; they can run and carry, just as Waite did last year.
We still have Waite as our wild card to throw back there if needed, so that gives me comfort with the backline.

The forwards will have their hands full against a mobile Saints backline, and if Setanta can feed the crumbers Betts Garlett and Walker, and Waite and Walker present and snag a few too, we'll be fine. I am expecting our mids to chime in for a few sausage rolls as usual.

But the game will all be decided in the midfield. Will Judd continue to dominate as the dominant player of the competition?
Well he doesn't seem to have a peer in the comp who can suppress his magic.
We definetely have the advantage there imo, especially with the soul of their midfield, Lenny, out injured.
Good point about Curnow and Ellard as extractors, and to add to that they are really effective 'blockers' too.
Dry track, and I'm expecting the run and speed of Judd, Murphy, Simpson and hopefully Armfield will carve them up.
If Milne is looking dangerous, and I reckon he's their most dangerous forward (yep moreso than Reiwoldt in 2011), then Armfield should take him on.

Warnock/ Setanta

Judd Curnow Murphy Scotland Simpson Carrazzo Ellard Robinson Armfield

We should win the clearances easily imo.

They will come out hungry for a win.
We have a bye the following week, so we can really 'ram' the win home and have a 2 week rest after we ram them.

I just want the 4 points and the percentage is secondary.

Carlton to win by 47 points.

I think they should bring Watson in to stand on Kosi. I have a funny feeling that Kosi will have a night out if opposed to White or Laidler.

Kosi has played one game this year and he was completely useless in that. He needs a long spell in the reserves to get some match fitness and touch before he can start having nights out. I really think that if he plays they'll be doing us a favour.

I understand that but we saw against Adelaide that Carlton struggle badly against tall big bodied forwards. Is it any coincidence that Lyon has rushed Kosi back for this game?

History suggests Kosi will miraculously find form and kick a bag of goals.

I have a funny feeling that unless St Kilda miraculously have been working on an attacking game plan away from the eyes of the media/public, they won't be troubling anyone in our defense.

We only have to be switched on mentally and this will be a win by 5 goals +

Yet we won the game and they only kicked 12 goals.

I couldn't care less if Kozi kicked 10 this week, if we keep any team to 12 goals we'll win.

Bower was a late withdrawal from that game as well.

We are in a good position where I would like to see Watson keep developing in the Bullants. No rush.

Bring Thornton for CHF with Walker and Setanta/Warnock as marking options with Betts, Garlett and mids underneath. That is heaps for Etihad.

Have Waite on Reiwoldt and Jamo on Kosi with Yarran, Armfield, Gibbs, Russell, Duigan running in support.

That line up will thrash the Saints!

..keep Waite fwd, he was very dymanic and under the roof will suit him.. ..With Setanta as the other tall and Walker the mid sized leading & leaping target and smalls/mids skipping around will be very potent vs the Aints.. ..dont worry about kosi, he's in as good touch as Hendo [nil].. ..only in cos they're gettin' desperate.. ..if anything let Roo lead high and kick in to Kosi, Jamo will murder him..

The team is out for Monday night's clash against St Kilda. Chris Yarran comes back in after missing round 6 while Jeremy Laidler will miss because of hamstring tightness.

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/newsar ... fault.aspx

“With his unavailability we have included Zach Tuohy as an emergency for the game,” added Icke.

Are we a little short down back? Unless O'hAilpin goes back and White goes forward?

That will give Laids a nice spell with the bye next week to freshen up after a great start to the year.

With Laidler out i am surprised that Thornton is only emergency. Fev may get to play on him afterall!

THIS...........he's a spud generally. He's worse than a stench from out west when he's hardly played.

If Kosi lights it up then the bloke playing on him should never play for Carlton ever again. Papers stamped and quietly walked out the door there and then.......

So gibbs goes back into laidlers role. White should be able to handle kosi.

Before bringing in a tall to play on a a big st kilda forward line the MC will consider whether keeping an extra running player in the team instead will help cut supply and create more goals for us than the goals they score when height comes into play.
