..sure bombres would be interested.. ..every club would be, but unless as a club you're in a position to really go for it [few ever are], then usually it's just a way to drive a players price up, help muddy the waters and encourage confusion in an enemy team..

Stupid talk on Essendon*.

Although if they were interested, then I reckon a straight swap of Hurley/Murphy would be good for us. Doubt they'd do that though. As others have said, with GWS holding all the cards, the only way you can get a good player is to trade fairly for him.

There is only a handful of players in the AFL you might consider swapping murph for and Hurley is not even close to being one of them IMO....cannot see Murph going anywhere to be honest....

I would hazard to guess that once the CBA has been finalised for the next 5 years, then we are likely to see some movement with Murphy's contract as he and the club won't know how much the salary cap will increase over the period of his contract to determine a price for him.

Murphy for Hurley, Heppel and a nice draft pick would suit me.
But I'd rather keep him.
In my limited expertise he seems exactly the type of player you need to keep in order to win a premiership.
If Judd went out on a limb to try to keep Grigg, imagine how hard he'll be working to keep Murph happy.
I think re-signing Walker would make a difference too, they seem to be close.

I don't care how good Hurley is, I wouldn't want him, his head just doesn't say 'Carlton' to me.

Hurley was a student at the school my wife teaches at and he was a no brainer during his school years....wherever there was a fight he was either part of it or nearby. Also academically he wasn't the best student.....though this does not mean much since he has football talent.

I still will not trade Murphy away and wouldn't want Hurley in return.
Murphy won't be going anywhere so don't need to worry about it but I guess as he is delaying his contract signing I can see why we are getting worried.

Because most of the people panicking about it have nothing better to do.

Meeting on Monday between the club and Murph's management - source: Sticks outside the SCG barely 10 minutes ago.

Murph, his manager and key directors (Pratt family) met yesterday - he is not leaving.

Very smart lad and already focussed on ensuring that life post football is taken care of.

Boom! Hope thats correct.

Have been reasonably confident the whole time he would re-sign but as all on here are a bit impatient.

Thank you Ockham, the hysteria over Murph has run to 20 pages and infiltrated other threads.
Disappointed.

Lets go back to more worthwhile things

like

Bagging Collingwood
Admiring how brave Essendon* is
Laughing at St Kilda and thier teenage antics
And hating the AFL

What does this mean.?

From Jason Phelan's Twitter:

@marcmurphy3 and manager Paul Connors all smiles down at Visy Park just now. Anything you'd like to tell us Murph? #AFL #BeNavy
Hope this bodes well for an announcement

They were probably laughing at the offer that the club put to them.
