He won't last long at Limited News writing stories like that. For a start, it was positive about Carlton. Secondly, and most appallingly, there was not one mention of Essendon* or James Hird!

I'd feel better if the link wasn't still "Swans lead Carlton at halftime"

I know. It should be changed to "Swans led Carlton at half time. But Carlton are awesome, and won"

THE AFL will launch an investigation into a controversial interchange infringement that cost Sydney a vital goal in its loss to Carlton at the SCG.

Swans coach John Longmire was furious after his side's 16-point defeat, claiming the interchange steward had made a major error and should have immediately reversed the decision.

The Blues had kicked three consecutive goals through Eddie Betts to take the lead late in the third quarter when the Swans were penalised for having 19 players on the field.

Adam Goodes was coming off the ground and Daniel Hannebery was attempting to come on.

Carlton were awarded a 50m penalty from which Setanta O'hAilpin kicked a fourth straight goal. The penalty enraged the Sydney bench, who were convinced they had not breached the rules.

Longmire said the Swans actually had five players off the field, with Jesse White out of view receiving treatment.

"We had plenty of players on the bench and not enough on the ground and I could see that from the coaches box 80 metres away," Longmire said.

The interchange steward was confident he had made the right call, but official statistics recorder Champion Data, who monitor rotations, is believed to be siding with the Swans.

OMG! An umpiring decision cost you a goal. Alert the !@#$%& National Guard!

You should listen to John Longmire's press conference after the game. Went for 7 minutes, and 5 minutes were about the interchange decision. I'd hate to hear that from my own coach.

I don't know what's gone on in this cirumstance, but I believe the interchange system is unnecessarily complicated.

If the steward has made a mistake then Longmire has every right to winge , because it is different to a bad umpiring decision and can be directly linked to a goal at vital part of the match.

My only annoyance is that it takes a small amount of gloss over what was a famous victory.

If in fact it was an error, can't say I blame him tbh.

Although I believe we would have won regardless, it did come at a very critical part of the game.

Lesson to the AFL is don't tamper with the rules too much as it will bite you on the @rse...

With any luck he's a chance to play for the Saints game then.

Did he spend the other two minutes talking about Jetta's throw that set up their goal in the third?

Very impressive win. It's been a long time since I've been that proud of the boys after a game.

Not for the first time this year, the MC were right and I was wrong. Picking Setanta was the right thing to do. He was a good fit for the conditions and did his bit last night. However, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Hammer back in sooner rather than later because we won't get away with being smashed in the ruck like we were last night very often...

Hopefully Murphy will be OK, he has been terrific this year. And I love the way that Curnow & Ellard are travelling - 2 guys that have done it the hard way and proof that patient development through the VFL can have its rewards.

Betts & Garlett made very good contributions. Good to see Eddie step up in a tough game against a good side (mind you, he was up against a much less experienced opponent for much of the night). Anyway, great to see him respond the right way to criticism, and I like the way Ratten has consistently backed him against the media/public pressure.

Jamo is in career best form right now (possibly AA form). A fit and in form Bower would round out our backline nicely...

Three other guys that are maligned at times on TC but were good last night - Scotland, Gibbs & Carrazzo. Well done to them.

And of course, our captain......

Still in Sydney soaking up the win

New it was a good omen after talking to Swan & Sticks outside the ground before the game.

What a nice guy Sticks is

Apart from being robbed by the umpires it was a great game. Was great hearing a Swan's fan giving it to Goodes in the last qtr.
(looked like a Richmond supporter)

When we were 20 points or so up in the last the Swans fans left in droves.

They have no idea about AFL. It is a social event for them

Had a few ales with some friendly Swans supporters at the Fox & Hounds pub after the game. Plenty of Blues fans there as well.

Been coming up to Sydney for years. Great to have a win at last

Marc Murphy flew home to Melbourne today with his left arm in a sling after suffering a knock to his shoulder during last night’s victory over the Swans at the SCG in Sydney.
Murphy played out the game and has the arm in a sling as a precautionary measure. He will have scans over the weekend and the results of these scans will be advised as soon as they are available.

We are the ultimate confidence team.
The best part about tonights win was everyone contributed.
Also playing Ohailpin was smart by the MC.
He had an impact

How was the coaches performance?

Ok maybe he new about the weather because it suited us better. We went in small and that wasnt a factor in those conditions.
Structure goes out the window a bit in those conditions KK. It becomes an old fashioned slogfest. Sydney arnt a good wet weather team. Lokk at the Geelong game.
Ratts made some good moves tonight.
Hasnt convinced me he should be there 2012 and beyond at all.

Maybe you and Josh Kaplan need to have a cup of tea with this guy who has been around footy abit....

250 AFL games
Dual Brownlow Medal winner (should have been 3)
Twice Players Association Most Valuable Player award winner (with Geelong in 1985 and Carlton in 1994)
Norm Smith Medal winner with Carlton as best on ground during the 1995 AFL Grand Final.
4 time All-Australian Team member.
In 2001 inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
In 2009 inducted into the Sydney Swan's inaugural Hall of Fame.

He seems to have a different opinion but I'm sure you and Josh watch alot of footy on the telly which no doubt helps your thought process on the matter.

Now, now MrC, don't go all facts and credentials on us. Besides what would he know anyways.

I liked the interview with Diesel at half time.

"So having played for both clubs, where do your allegiences lie?"

"Um...ah....with both I guess...."

Then later, "So do you think Carlton can come back & win?"

"Yeah I'm pretty confident..."

Pretty impressive list of achievements BUT you forgot this little 1...........

1995 premiership player and VERY close if not BEST mate of B. Ratten a fellow 1995 premiership player.

Now your NEVER going to bag your best mate are you????
Funny how Ratts rates Judd up there with none other than G. Williams.
