PROS:

Judd - Could be Captain of Carlton's team of the Century.
Betts - best game since he signed his new contract
Gibbs - good negating role on Goodes - want to see bigger effort next week
Defence - is becoming very good with Duigan and Laidler.
OHalipin - Great effort - always provides a hard contest.
Curnow, Robinson , Ellard - always worked for the jumper
Warnock - good
Walker - solid and lively.
Everyone else not mentioned above - all contributed.
We are becoming a harder & tougher team.

CONS

Joseph - Yarran back next week

Pro:
Brilliant second half
Won contested possessions, tackles, clearances
Judd - nuff said
Jamieson has turned into that key backman we really needed
Backline in general has worked better than most expected
Eddie - lets hope this is a real launching pad for him and doesn't go missing again
Gibbs - like Eddie, hope he gains a lot of confidence from towling Goodes

Con:
Mediocre first half

Pros:
Gutsy, gutsy win. I thought they looked out of legs half way through the 3rd quarter, but they just ground out the win in a tight, tough game against one of our bogey sides.
Judd. Simply an incredible performance.
Curnow and Ellard were terrific contributors in midfield as well.
Jamo, Laidler and Gibbs (in the 2nd half) down back.
Betts, Waite, Walker and Garlett (in the 2nd half) up forward.
Santy was really, really competitive. Not sure if it was the conditions, but thought he was pretty decent in the ruck.

Cons:
Not adjusting to the conditions in the first half. Gibbs trying for dinky passes. Handballs and short passes from many of them.
Waite dropping chest marks again (more excuse this week given the conditions).
I'm a fan of Carrazzo, but he's struggling at the moment. (Better 2nd half.)
I'm a fan of Russell, but certainly not at his best.
Not sure we really got enough out of Joseph and Armfield (although good goal from Joseph). I suspect the substitute role may not be ideal for fringe (and lacking confidence) players.

Pros:
- The second half
- That guy who's apparently not as good as Swan or Hodge
- Big increase in the output of Betts and Gibbs (who toweled up that cheating @#$%&! "Goodsey"
- Jamison is becoming one of the premier key defenders in the comp
- Curnow continues to be one of the finds of the season (arguably THE find)
- White, Laidler and Duigan were all solid
- Jeff's finishing
- Tackling

Cons:
- The first half: Played into their hands and was rather irritating
- Waite, giving away free after free, and offering very little
- The umpires
- Too many guys still waiting for the cheap possie. This improved in the second half, but didn't totally disappear.
- Still a bit worried when teams counter-attack us, but again in the 2nd half we tightened things up
- JR, AJ and Robbo were all shaky except for brief passages
- Essendon* were more courageous still

Pros

We won
Depth is now looking good

Yarran
McLean
Houlihan
Kruezer
Henderson
Lucas
Watson

Cons
White was terrible
Waite needs to get body behind ball when its wet
Smaller players need to learn to put head over ball, Garlett & Simpson, were poor in 1st half

..kinda agree regarding Murphy.. ..didn't feel like we had his usual buzz, but he still racked up 25 touches [2nd to Judd's 33] and blues high 10 tackles.. ..that run down the wing and two bounces looked good, still competitive in the wet but so much more run and drive in better conditions..

Pros

First win there since 1993 :smoking: :thanks:      :gift:
Jamo....this bloke has been awesome last 3 weeks. Quickly becoming the best key defender in the AFL (seriously)
Judd. He still can't kick, but his effort to get to the ball and drive us forward in the last Q was sensational :donk:
Walks has really found his spot on the Fwd line
Eduardo. Ol' Junk Time had a ripper tonite. A few more like that and you're back in the fold
Duigan was very solid in the 2nd half, inc a great mark under pressure. Love this guy
Gibbs on Goodes was very good 2nd half. I'd keep giving Gibbs these roles, as he doesn't seem to like getting his own ball in the middle for some reason.
Setanta gave a lot.......pressure on you now Hammer.
Maybe now the media will stop saying the only teams to challenge the Pies are Geel, Ess, Haw, Freo.........WTF ????

Cons

None tonight - they can wait until next week.

I haven't seen the game as yet but I can only assume the light at the end of the tunnel isn't necessarily the 3.05 from Broadmeadows anymore .

Looking forward to the replay.

Saw the game live at Blue Beatle's house.
Cons:
Blue Beatle was at the game in Sydney!
Next week I'll have to rely on internet streaming again as that was my last live game before going back to Mexico.
I'll be looking for THAT link and password  please p.m. me during the week if you have it!!!

Disagree. Not for the first time this year White's physicality had an impact on the game with Jack coming off second best in a contest and not being able to run with Judd for the rest of the game. Don't underestimate how much impact this had on the result.

Pros:

Judd - Unbeliable last quarter what a champion
Curnow - Great effort
Gibbs - Outstanding on Goodes
Jamison - Developing into one of the best defenders in the AFL
Carrazzo - Great 4 quarter effort
Murphy - Dynamic first half when someone had to stand up
Ellard - Another great game
Betts - Match winner
Garlett - Handy last quarter with 2 goals
Walker - Gave a contest up forward all night
Laidler - Another solid game
Duigan - Does the 1% very well
Ohalipin - Gave us a contest in the ruck and up forward. Shits all over Hampson.

Cons:

Umpires - disgraceful
Robinson - Slow

The MC got it pretty spot on with Setanta's and Army's inclusion in those weather conditions.

Robinson - Slow

*snip*. Robinson was about the only player in Navy Blue last night to put his head over the ball and body on the line the entire match.

Sure, his skills aren't ever going to make him a superstar of the game, but he willed himself into the contest all night in appalling conditions, and forced his way to the ball when teammates were being led to the ball and standing back from contests in the first half.

Others....

Pro:
The BIG Carlton crowd. Seriously, don't give me any of this absolute bullshit about there not being enough support in Sydney to request matches up here every year.
JUDD. Enough said.
Setanta. Did very well

Spending the night in the Members (MA Noble) having some fun 'banter' with Swans 'supporters' who were a bit miffed we were sitting in "The red zone".
Meeting Doc Sherrin. Had a great night with him. At the footy, you perverts. NTTAWWT.

Con:
Sydney supporters. Although watching scores of them leaving with 10 minutes to go and us 4 goals up was very enjoyable.
The umpiring. The first half was OK, then Razor Ray must have had a chat to the other maggots at half time, and the Umpirelotto™ whistles came out in the 2nd half.
The first half. Slow. Stupid. Dinky. Led to the ball. I could go on.....

Jeez Htcox, not sure how you single out Robinson as a con. In the first half he looked like the only one of our boys who understood what wet weather football required.

PROS:

Judd - enough said. He's the best player in the comp, everyone can just shut up.
Curnow, Laidler, Duigan - a recruiting masterclass.
Jamo - Supreme performance by a defender in the wet. The way he worked to the front was superb.
Gibbs - I am still worried his best games seem to come when he is guarding someone, but I'll take that performance any day.
Murph - I'm surprised at some slightly negative comments - thought he was hard as nails when it counted. massive tackle on Goodes to ice the game.
Betts - Well done. I wanted him out but am delighted for him to prove that call wrong.
Jeff - Tried to kick it too short at times but was cleaner than most on the night.
Scotland - Still vastly underrated outside Carlton. Very important for us.
Setanta - I would rather him than Hampson in the team anyday. If I was an opposition coach I'd be more worried about him than Hampson.
Armfield - Really liked his effort when subbed on. Hopefully that seals his spot and he can get on with it.

Once again, I thought the defence was ok, and the mids are really starting to protect them better. It wasn't White's best game for us, but when the scoreboard shows 59 points against heading into junk time in the last quarter I will take it.

The tackling, pressure and commitment were as relentless as I can recall a Carlton side delivering, except maybe 2000 when we were on the run of wins.

CONS:
Sydney showed us how to play wet weather footy in the first half. Thank god we learned, but we were ordinary first half. Too many short kicks, too many loose disposals, too many one handed efforts to trap the ball etc.

Waite was simply not respectful of the efforts those up the ground were putting in to get the ball down to him. 6 FAs is unforgivable. It's probably too late for him to change, and he probably isn't smart enough to change, but he was a liability in the wet last night, constantly taking himself off his feet instead of staying upright and locking in contests etc. If everyone else on the ground can take a chest mark, as a key forward he shoud be as well. He's one of my favourites, but we got Bad Jarrad last night in spades.

I don't think AJ did anything to suggest he'll keep his spot when Yarran returns. Looked a bit out of his depth at times.
