Cannot understand the ommission of Henderson. Has me baffled to say the least.
The MC put him in last week, knowing his limited preperation and therefore needing to give him atleast 3 to 4 weeks. Why bring him back for ONE? Why not leave him in the VFL for another couple before and then promote him? This has lost me.

Joseph is needed because need a specialist bp. Simple it's either him or Armfield for mine. Armfield might be used differently, therefore his the obvious choice.
Ellard deserves his opportunity and against Adelaide is the perfect midfielder to bring in. Hopefully he and Curnow can work well together and allow the others to link and run!!!

Hopefully we use the correct player as emergency this week: Robinson or Ellard!

The forward line would have got reviewed this week after its failure last week. Looks like the coaches are experimenting with a different mix this week and Henderson being underdone could be a victim of this. They have decided a tall had to go and it must have been a toss up between Hampson and Henderson. With Hampsons ruckwork and Warnoch carrying a niggle it makes sense that an underdone Henda goes back to the bullants.

This may not give you all the answers that you need but it may help you become un baffled to say the least.

Its fair to say things needed to change in the forward line and it is good to see the coaches having a crack at something new.

It's a bit like Home and Away, you can miss three or four episodes and pick up pretty quickly what been going on.

Having watched large parts of the Showdown last week, Port really got on top in the contested ball and Adelaide showed very little resistance thereafter. Just the basics, hard at it, first to the ball and the hunger of wanting it more.

I'd be greatly disappointed if we didn't do the same tonight right from the outset and for the full four quarters. They'll be smarting, just as we should be, so we shouldn't give them even a hint of a sniff.

Also expecting much more pressure in our forward 50. That was poor last week and needs to be addressed starting now.

Huge game and I'm hopeful we can take care of business. Can't say I'm overly confident though. Just how will we respond from the disappointment of last week?

Go Blues!

they have to persist - he and Mitch Robinson are the only 2nd/3rd round draft picks we have playing for us at the moment - thank f*#k for the rookie draft I say otherwise we would be totally screwed if we had to rely on out national draft picks

Hi Club, no doubt, i think you've summed up the match committies thinking. Posters like you usually do!

I feel for Henderson however and i believe it's a mistake. This will hurt Carlton more in the next 2-3 weeks. We can not bring him back in next week! We need to give him time to settle and get some form and doing this to him does not make sense. What is our alternative if Hampson fails again this week? O'hAilpin? Please.... Hopefully Hammer can take some steps and do a job over the next 2 weeks to give Hendo time to get some form, else we are going to be battling and I hope Ratts knows what he is doing. I want him to succeed so much.

We need Bower & Henderson in the team up and running. We've given Bower time yet we play yo-yo with Hendo. We are 2 KP players short currently. Interesting few weeks coming up.

Interesting comments from Paul Roos

Quote:
Arguably, the most important player in making Carlton a serious top four finals team is Jarrad Waite. At times, he looks unstoppable, yet he can look like a first-gamer. He must stay calm and do the basics well for 120 minutes. If he does, he will be a star.

Carlton should beat a young, injury-depleted Crows team convincingly.

Been thinking the same thing myself. Grigg gone, hampson not up to it. We stuufed those picks up. Has me baffled why we do so well in rookie draft and miss the obvious in national draft.

Wouldn't call Hampson a stuff up yet. I could easily see him going to another club, getting the #1 position and going bang (like so many ruckmen do - see Jolly, Mumford)

Dawes is the one who would have fitted in but at the time we had Kennedy and shit-for-brains up forward. Also Dawes was coming off an ACL.

Will be interesting tonight to see how we cope if Adelaide stack for the forward line with Walker - Tippett - McKernan.

Walker to kick 5 goals tonight. With the selection of the extra runner, Walker will need to play as a marking forward and i am backing him in to have a big one.

Cook is a spud. Takes the game on, but has no awareness or football smarts. Thompson on the other hand has been Adelaide's best mid by a mile.

You bring up a really good point about the lack of 2nd and 3rd round national draft pick players that are getting a game or are still on our list. You can go back to 2004, our first round picks have been good and our rookie selections. Players such as Austin, Kerr, O'Keefe, Davies have question marks over them as to whether they will make it. Grigg has gone and Bower has been injured and there are others who i cant even remember the names of. Wayne Hughes has done a great job with our rookies but should have done better with the National Draft after all the picks we have had in recent years.

Big test this one.

Jammo really needs to start running the ball out of defence more and linking up with the play.

Simmo kicked 3 last week but his overall performance has been below par. Lift FFS.

Waite just has to stop playing dumb footy.

Hampson has to start holding his marks.

Curnow hasn't taken a big pack mark at all so far this season.

Only one goal to Garlett last week. We need more out of him.

Scotland does too many u-turns and needs to just run straight and kick it.

Warnock needs to start using his massive height to our advantage.

Gibbs is soft.

Betts has performed in a big game ever and this one is huge.

Carrazzo needs to know his limitations. Stick to the basics FFS.

Robinson needs to lift his eyes. He'll learn from that.

Murphy has only kicked 3 goals this year. He's not hurting the opposition on the scoreboard.

White is on his last chance.

Duigan needs to repeat his last game else sayonara dude.

Laidler needs to get double figure possessions if we are to be a threat.

Yarran needs to provide more run if he is to be a defender. No tank?

Russell needs to spoil more. Not enough spoiling.

Too many MOYT attempts for Walker.

Judd needs to start winning us some games. That's what he's getting paid for.

thanks Verbs, if you wouldnt mind doing that on a weekly basis and Pming me it will save me a lot of time reading threads

I agree with Roos. 10 goals win it should be if we kick straight.

First chance to get on since teams were named. Not the quickest side for a smallish one.

Outs are not surprising except for the fact there were only two. Ellard is a great in, one thoroughly deserved. Was not expecting AJ to get in, let alone ahead of Armfield. Armfield has pace, ability to break lines and can find the ball better than AJ imo. He might be in for a shutdown role, but hope he is still not pidgeon-holed for that.

Not sure why everyone is going on and on and on about Hampson. Not setting the world alight, but not as bad as being said here. Should improve with games, and if not - at least we will know. Furthermore, just who is going to come in and make a difference? (Jacobs is playing in alternate colours tonight for those coming in late).

Hope the MC has worked it out well as this is one Crows game we should not let slip.
