Ladies and gents. A challenge. How many times in the next 96 hours will Essendon* be called 'brave' or a variation of in the media. With three major newspapers, radio coverage and a couple of talk TV shows I am expecting a score of up over 180. What a brave team they were today.

The Bombers’ effort was brave given that they lost two players in the first term to potentially-season ending knee injuries. Jason Winderlich went down early in the first term, followed late in the same quarter by defender Courtenay Dempsey.

With just two on the bench, the Bombers could have been excused for fading, but they rebounded magnificently to secure two of the more famous premiership points in recent memory.

"Two of the more famous premiership points in recent memory" no less.

Does that make our two points equally famous...?

there is a big difference to 1/2 a win compared to 1/2 a loss

FFS the papers were full of how much better than us they were - We couldn't have played any worse and you could see they were very flat after last weeks effort

Our two points are clearly infamous.

Apparently it was purely due to a dodgy goal umpire that we came away with 2 pts.

BTW, according to the hun they were "crippled". That's right, we took a baseball bat to all their knee caps and rendered them all incapacitated, yet their hearts STILL beat enough for them to overcome to odds and take 2 pts off our evil group of cheats and tankers.

If the shoe was on the other foot and we had been the one to be down a man the focus would still be on our missed chances rather than the fact we were playing -1.

No, because apparently we only have one player (Judd) if any of our other players went down they'd write that it wouldn't have made any difference anyway, as PLAYER X is ordinary at best.

yep. There is no hard edge to most of our players. When it's your turn to attack the ball with an opposition player also attacking the ball, we wait and try (and I mean that in the loosest meaning of the word) to tackle. Happened lots of times today. Not good enough and won't win you games in September (or October).
